Everything was settled. Just as he planned to head back to the villa, the driver received a phone call from Lu Jinglin, instructing the driver to bring Xia Yuning straight to Lu Jinglin’s company so they could head to the Lu family residence together to visit Lu’s parents.

Xu Qian had just come downstairs after seeing off an important client. As soon as he entered the lobby, he noticed a young man with exquisite and striking features sitting on the sofa.

There were quite a few staff members in the lobby, and they kept glancing in Xia Yuning’s direction. It was no wonder, as Xia Yuning’s face was simply too eye-catching. Anyone unaware would have thought some celebrity from the entertainment industry had dropped by.Full novel: Transmigrated Into The Villainous CEO’s Bride — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Xu Qian walked over to the front desk and asked the receptionist, “Xiao Li, who is that person?”

Xiao Li replied, “He said he is here to see President Lu.” As she spoke, she glanced at Xia Yuning again. Ever since Xia Yuning arrived, she had lost count of how many times she had sneaked a peek at him. Not only was Xia Yuning’s appearance captivating, but the fact that he was looking for President Lu made her immensely curious.

Xu Qian frowned and asked, “Does he have an appointment?”

“No.” Xiao Li shook her head, her gaze still lingering on Xia Yuning. “I told him to wait over there for a moment.”

Xu Qian nodded and walked toward Xia Yuning.

“Sir, is there anything you need?”

Xia Yuning put down his newly purchased phone and looked up. “Nothing in particular.” He paused to think before adding, “Well, please get me a glass of water at room temperature.”

Xu Qian had been standing a bit too far away earlier to see clearly, but now that he was close, he could fully appreciate the young man’s appearance. It was a face that could easily gain tens of thousands of fans on its very first day in the spotlight.

Xu Qian was stunned for a good ten seconds before snapping out of it. “Ah, sure, please wait a moment.”

Xia Yuning shifted his attention back to his phone. He had already familiarized himself with some of its functions and was thinking of exchanging contact information with Lu Jinglin later so they could easily reach each other if anything came up.

“Sir, your water.”

Xia Yuning took it. “Thank you.”

“Are you here to see our President Lu?” Xu Qian asked.

“Yes.”

Xu Qian tried to phrase it as politely as possible. “Well, you see, if you do not have an appointment in advance, you cannot meet with our President Lu.”

Xia Yuning took a sip of water and smiled faintly. “It is fine. I can just wait for him here.”

Just as Xu Qian was about to say more, a deep voice sounded from behind him.

“Sorry to keep you waiting.”

Xia Yuning set down the disposable paper cup and looked at Lu Jinglin, who was walking over at a leisurely pace. “Not at all, I only just arrived.”

Xu Qian was startled. He looked at Lu Jinglin and then at Xia Yuning, thinking to himself that this must be someone the president knew. Could they be friends?

Lu Jinglin said in a low voice, “Next time, just come straight upstairs to my office. I will notify the front desk.”

“Alright, sounds good.”

Lu Jinglin asked, “Did you get a haircut?”

“Yes.” Xia Yuning’s eyes curved slightly. “It was getting a bit too long, so I trimmed it. Besides, we are going to meet your parents later.”

Lu Jinglin gave a soft hum of agreement and handed some documents he was holding to Xu Qian. “Assistant Xu, since you are right here, please print out another copy of these documents and give them to me tomorrow.”

Xu Qian dazedly took the papers. “O-okay.”

Lu Jinglin turned to Xia Yuning and said, “Let us go.”

Xia Yuning followed behind him. “Mr. Lu, there is something I want to tell you.”

“What is it?”

Long after Xia Yuning and Lu Jinglin left the company, Xu Qian still had not fully processed what had happened. If he had heard correctly, were they going to meet President Lu’s parents together? Weren’t they just friends?

Xu Qian suddenly raised his head as a recent rumor from high society flashed through his mind, the rumor that their president was going to marry the so-called loser from the Xia family. Could that young man just now be the CEO’s wife? Goodness gracious, thank goodness he had not offended the CEO’s wife just then!
