Xia Yuning took a bite of the pastries that had just been delivered that day. Fengxiang Building continued to send pastries to Lu Jinglin like clockwork, though ever since Xia Yuning arrived, these desserts had basically all ended up in his stomach.

He finished off the snack in his hand in a few bites, dusted off the crumbs, stood up from the sofa, and prepared to head to school.

At that moment, Lu Jinglin also stood up from the side and asked, “Getting ready to go to school?”Full novel: Transmigrated Into The Villainous CEO’s Bride — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Mm, yes.”

“I happen to be heading to the company. I can give you a ride along the way.”

“Ah?” Xia Yuning was slightly stunned. He waved his hand and said, “There is no need, do not trouble yourself.”

“It is no trouble.” Lu Jinglin straightened his suit jacket and, leaving no room for refusal, stepped toward the door. “Let us go.”

Xia Yuning had no choice but to follow.

When they reached the car, the driver greeted them, “President Lu, Mr. Xia.”

Xia Yuning recognized that this was the same driver who had driven them on their wedding day, and he nodded in acknowledgment.

Once they got into the car, the driver in the front asked, “President Lu, should we head straight to the company?”

Lu Jinglin smoothed out his slightly wrinkled suit jacket. The two emerald cufflinks at his cuffs made him look noble and elegant. “Not the company yet. Drop him off at school first.”

The him referred to naturally being Xia Yuning. The driver nodded in compliance and started the car, steering it out of the villa.

Along the way, Lu Jinglin leaned against the backseat with his eyes closed in feigned sleep. After a moment, he suddenly spoke up, “If some unexpected situation arises again, like what happened yesterday, you can let me know beforehand.”

It took Xia Yuning a moment to process that the situation Lu Jinglin was referring to yesterday was him taking Qiu Se to the hospital.

“I am your husband, your legal partner. I think I have the right to know these things.” Lu Jinglin paused before continuing, “Otherwise, I will worry.”

Husband.

Partner.

Worry.

No matter which of these words was spoken, they were all far too sensitive. Xia Yuning’s heart hammered against his ribs a few times, his cheeks grew burning hot, and even the tips of his ears turned red.

He cracked the window open slightly, allowing a chilly breeze to rush in and ruffle the stray locks of hair across his forehead, helping the heat on his face subside a bit.

“Understood. I will tell you next time.”

He spoke, his voice slightly scattered by the wind, drifting softly and gently into Lu Jinglin’s ears.

“Mr. Lu, I am going inside now. Goodbye.” Xia Yuning stood at the main gate of A University and waved at Lu Jinglin inside the car.

Lu Jinglin nodded, rolled up the window, and instructed the driver to move. The driver made a U-turn, and the vehicle soon vanished from sight.

Xia Yuning watched the car gradually disappear into the distance, pondering quietly to himself why on earth Lu Jinglin had suddenly decided to drop him off at school.

By now, a crowd had already gathered at the main gate of A University, and most of the gazes were falling directly on him. These looks were noticeably more intense than the ones from yesterday.

Xia Yuning stepped onto campus, walked along for a moment, and decided he should stop by the dormitory first.

When he reached the door of Dormitory 304, he knocked.

The door opened shortly after. He had only intended to drop by for a look, but to his surprise, Qiu Se was genuinely inside.

He smiled and greeted him, “Qiu Se, good morning.”

Qiu Se’s complexion had recovered significantly compared to yesterday, and his energy levels had improved a lot as well. He nodded expressionlessly.

“Why are you here? Did you not already move out?”

“I just came to check on you. Seeing that you have recovered well, I can finally rest easy.”

“Thank you.” Qiu Se pressed his lips together and stepped aside, making a path for Xia Yuning to enter the dorm.

“Why is it so dark in here? It is the middle of the day, why draw the curtains?” Xia Yuning walked over to the window and pulled open the tightly shut drapes. “When you are sick, you need to soak up more sunlight.”

As Xia Yuning drew back the curtains, this small space was instantly flooded with sunlight. Qiu Se squinted against the bright rays.

He watched Xia Yuning bathed in the sunlight and took a moment to feel the warmth of the sun himself.

Ah, it really was quite warm.

“Do you have classes this morning?” Xia Yuning turned around to ask him.

Qiu Se shook his head. “No classes.”

“That works out. Let us go, time to go cancel our leave with the counselor.” Xia Yuning headed toward the door of the dorm and said, “Once we cancel the leave, we are going somewhere.”
