After washing her hands, Jun Wan took little Jingchen from Nanny Lin’s arms and sat on the bed to nurse him.
Once the baby had begun feeding, she looked at Nanny Lin with a serious expression.
“Nanny, hurry and pack everything in your room. Even the smallest scrap of cloth—take it all with you.”
After speaking, she noticed that Linglan was nowhere to be seen.
“Where’s Linglan?”
Nanny Lin was still stunned by Jun Wan’s strange request. Hearing the question, she instinctively replied,
“She went to look for Your Highness.”
“Look for me?” Jun Wan looked at her in confusion. She had teleported back herself—where could Linglan possibly be looking?
Realizing she hadn’t explained clearly, Nanny Lin hurriedly added,
“The little prince was hungry and kept crying. Linglan said she’d go see if Your Highness had returned. She probably went to the front gate.”
Jun Wan nodded in understanding. At most, Linglan would only peek outside from inside the gate. The guards stationed outside would never let her leave.
“If you see her, tell her to pack her belongings too,” Jun Wan said, then added with emphasis, “Everything she owns.”
Without asking any questions, Nanny Lin turned and left.
From the soldiers guarding the manor to the grim expression on her princess’s face after returning from gathering information, Nanny Lin understood that something terrible had happened. Having served by Jun Wan’s side for so many years, she was far from ignorant. She knew the Eldest Prince would never spare them.
After feeding little Jingchen, Jun Wan directly moved both the baby and his cradle into her mystical space.
Then she emptied the manor’s storerooms and kitchens, storing everything—including the pots, bowls, and utensils—inside her space. She also packed away everything in Mo Yan’s study.
While collecting the items, she came across a courtyard filled with women.
“What a scumbag,” she cursed under her breath, then silently thanked heaven that Mo Yan was dead.
The thought of having to share one man with so many women made her sick.
Still, she couldn’t understand why she had absolutely no memories of there being so many women in the prince’s residence.
But the man was already dead, so there was no point dwelling on it.
When she returned to her room and saw how empty it had become, she worried that if Mo Cheng’s men arrived later, it would look suspicious.
Remembering the noble families Mo Cheng had mentioned would be exiled, she decided to pay each of them a visit. She even stopped by the homes of ministers who were especially close to Mo Cheng, emptying out all of their storehouses and kitchens before finally returning to the prince’s manor.
The moment she arrived, Nanny Lin and Linglan entered the room, each carrying a huge bundle.
“Master, I’ve packed everything you told me to,” Linglan said, placing her bundle on the table and letting out a long sigh. Looking at it proudly, she added, “These are all of my valuables.”
“And this is everything I own,” Nanny Lin said with a frown.
Just the belongings of herself and Linglan amounted to this much. But what about the princess’s things? Her dowry, the Emperor’s rewards, and so many other treasures… How could they possibly take them all?
As she thought about it, Nanny Lin suddenly felt that something was off.
“Your Highness, where are all the things from your room? And where did the little prince go?” Linglan asked in confusion.
At that moment, Nanny Lin realized what was wrong.
Not only had everything in the princess’s room disappeared, but the little prince was gone as well.
“Princess, where is the little prince?” Nanny Lin asked anxiously.
Linglan also looked at Jun Wan.
Jun Wan smiled mysteriously.
“I’m going to take you somewhere. Prepare yourselves.”
She had never intended to hide the existence of her dimensional space from them. That was why she had asked them to pack their things in the first place.
After all, the jade pendant had been with the original owner since childhood, and Nanny Lin knew about it. Besides, both of them were absolutely loyal. She had no reason to be wary of them.
Still, worried that they might not be able to accept it all at once, she first waved her hand and stored their bundles inside the space.
Nanny Lin and Linglan’s eyes widened so much they nearly popped out of their sockets.
“M-Master… where are my things?” Linglan stammered. She searched around the table, then frantically looked all over the room.
Nanny Lin, being older and having heard Jun Wan’s earlier words, quickly pieced things together.
“Princess… did you put them away?”
Jun Wan smiled and nodded.
“Now I’ll take you inside so you can see for yourselves.”
With that, she brought both Nanny Lin and Linglan into the room inside her jade pendant space.
Little Jingchen’s cradle stood beside her large bed, and the child was sleeping peacefully within it.
“…”
The two women were so shocked that they couldn’t utter a single word. Their eyes darted around in every direction, taking in the unbelievable sight.
At that moment, both of them were thinking the same thing:
Fortunately, the princess had warned them beforehand. Otherwise, they would have been scared half to death.
“This is the space inside my jade pendant,” Jun Wan said solemnly. “You must never mention it to anyone.”
Snapping back to their senses, Nanny Lin and Linglan immediately knelt down.
“This old servant/this servant swears never to reveal it. If we ever break this oath—”
Before they could finish, Jun Wan interrupted them.
“Get up. There’s no need to swear anything. I was simply telling you.”
She trusted them completely. After all, they had been by the original owner’s side since she was a child.
“Thank you, Master… Thank you, Princess.”
“I learned from the palace that since Eunuch Wang didn’t steal the Imperial Seal, Mo Cheng has already ascended the throne. Meanwhile, Mo Yan was ambushed and assassinated on his way back to the capital. Right now, no one knows whether he’s dead or alive. Mo Cheng plans to exile me, my son, and Consort Yi in order to lure Mo Yan out…”
As she spoke, she turned to Nanny Lin.
“You and Linglan should stay here. This place is absolutely safe.”
“What about you and the little prince, Princess?” Nanny Lin asked.
“We have to go out.”
Jun Wan then explained her entire plan to the two women.
“Once we reach the place of exile, we’ll disappear. Right now, all of Mo Cheng’s attention is focused on me and my son. If we run away now, we’ll spend the rest of our lives being hunted.”
“Master, why don’t we return to the Silver Wolf Kingdom?” Linglan suggested. “His Majesty dotes on you so much. He would never bear to see you suffer.”
“We could leave,” Jun Wan replied, “but what about Consort Yi and Princess Huai’an? Even if I don’t care about Huai’an, I can’t just abandon Consort Yi. She’s always treated me quite well.”
What Jun Wan was really thinking, however, was something else.
The Silver Wolf Kingdom was far smaller than the Dragon Yuan Kingdom. She feared that her so-called relatives, in order to secure their own country’s future, might one day hand over her and her son.
If that were the case, she would rather not return at all.
