Now she had everything she needed—food, clothing, money. The only thing left was to get rid of the people watching them. Once she shook them off, she could take Nanny Lin and the others and live a life as carefree as immortals.

“In that case, this old servant will go with you as well,” Nanny Lin said firmly. “I can’t rest easy letting Your Highness take the little prince out there by yourself.”

“I’ll go too!” Linglan hurriedly added. “I know martial arts. I can protect Master and the little prince.”Full novel: Transmigration: Exiled with Her Son, She Accidentally Became Empress — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“If you come with me, the journey will be very hard,” Jun Wan reminded them. “And to avoid arousing suspicion, we won’t be able to enter the space whenever we want.”

“This servant isn’t afraid of hardship.”

“Neither is this old servant.”

Both women answered without hesitation.

Warmth filled Jun Wan’s heart. The original owner had truly been fortunate to have such loyal people by her side.

After bringing them back out of the space, Linglan immediately dashed outside.

“Master, I’ll bring over the quilts and the rest of my clothes. Please help me store them!”

“This old servant will go too!”

Nanny Lin also hurried out.

Originally, the princess had told them to bring everything, but because they couldn’t carry so much, they had only packed the essentials. Now that they knew the princess had a place to store things, of course they wanted to take it all. Otherwise, not only would they have to buy everything again in the future, but whatever they left behind would simply become someone else’s bargain.

…

Early the next morning, large numbers of soldiers could be seen searching every house on the streets.

Inside the War Prince’s Manor, Steward Zhang hurried toward Jun Wan’s courtyard.

At that moment, Linglan had just stepped out of Jun Wan’s room to fetch water for her morning wash.

Seeing her, Steward Zhang quickly asked,

“Miss Linglan, has the Princess Consort awakened?”

Noticing the anxious look on his face—and how unusually polite he was—Linglan nodded suspiciously.

“Please trouble yourself to inform the Princess Consort that this old servant has an urgent matter to report.”

“Very well. Please wait a moment.”

Inside the room, Jun Wan had already overheard the conversation. Before Linglan could even speak, she said,

“I know.”

Then she walked outside herself.

After all, her room was completely empty now. She didn’t want Steward Zhang to become suspicious.

She already knew why he had come.

As soon as she stepped outside, Steward Zhang hurried forward.

“Your Highness, something terrible has happened! The manor’s treasury has been robbed! Overnight, everything inside vanished without a trace!”

Inside the room, Nanny Lin, who was holding little Jingchen, froze for a brief moment.

But she quickly understood.

With such a miraculous treasure in the princess’s possession, emptying a treasury was hardly difficult.

Jun Wan put on a shocked expression.

“How could that happen? Aren’t there soldiers guarding the manor outside? How could everything simply disappear? Unless…”

She deliberately left the sentence unfinished.

But Steward Zhang understood exactly what she meant.

Either the guards had stolen it, or he himself had embezzled it.

His face turned pale, and he immediately knelt.

“Your Highness, please see clearly! This old servant has never taken a single coin belonging to the manor!”

Deep down, he was suspicious as well.

The treasury lock was completely intact, yet everything inside had vanished.

How could that even be possible?

A faint smile appeared on Jun Wan’s face.

“Please rise, Steward Zhang. I cannot accept such a gesture. As for the theft of the treasury, you should report it to the Prince.”

“I have neither the authority to manage the household nor the responsibility to guard its treasury.”

“W-What should I do now?” Steward Zhang muttered in panic.

Because the Prince had never favored the Princess Consort, and since he had gone off to war without leaving any instructions, the treasury keys and account books had always been under Steward Zhang’s care.

Now that the treasury had been emptied, how was he supposed to explain it to the Prince?

Just then, little Jingchen suddenly burst into tears.

Hearing him cry, Jun Wan said to Steward Zhang,

“You should continue your investigation. There’s nothing I can do to help.”

With that, she turned and went back inside.

Steward Zhang looked helplessly at her retreating figure before finally leaving.

Watching him go, Linglan sneered.

“Serves you right. Normally none of you ever treated my mistress like the lady of this manor. But the moment something happens, you suddenly remember her. The nerve of you people.”

In the hearts of both Linglan and Nanny Lin, once their princess had married into the War Prince’s Manor, then aside from the War Prince himself, she should have been the mistress of the entire household.

Yet after the wedding, the Prince had only gone through the marriage ceremony before leaving for the battlefield the very next day.

Fortunately, their princess had been blessed enough to conceive after that single night, bringing joy to Consort Yi and the Emperor.

Otherwise, they could hardly imagine how she would have survived in the War Prince’s Manor.

Still, both women had always found one thing strange.

The War Prince’s rear courtyard housed so many women, yet not a single one of them had become pregnant.

No wonder the Emperor and Consort Yi had been overjoyed when their princess conceived.

After nursing little Jingchen, Jun Wan took out some prepared dishes from her space. She had no idea which household they had originally come from, but the three women sat down and ate together.

She had also discovered that her space could preserve freshness.

She had transmigrated several days ago, yet all the vegetables in the supermarket inside her space were still perfectly fresh.

“Waaah! Waaah!”

Before they had even finished eating, little Jingchen began crying again.

Nanny Lin and Linglan were about to get up.

“You two stay seated. I’ll do it.”

Jun Wan guessed that the baby had wet himself.

Since Nanny Lin and Linglan already knew about the space, she no longer intended to hide the items inside it. That would make taking things out much more convenient in the future.

She planned to put a disposable diaper on little Jingchen so that when he urinated, he wouldn’t soak both his cloth diaper and his blanket.

Using her mind, she tried to take a baby diaper from the supermarket inside the space.

But nothing appeared in her hand.

Her consciousness entered the space, and she discovered that beside the supermarket checkout counter sat a package of diapers.

On the cash register display was written:

Baby Diapers — 1 tael and 5 qian of silver

Beside it was a button labeled:

[Confirm]

So the supplies she had brought from the modern world weren’t actually free—they had to be purchased with silver.

Jun Wan thought to herself.

She mentally pressed the confirmation button.

To her surprise, it worked.

The package of diapers instantly appeared in her hands.

“Master, what is that?” Linglan asked curiously.

“This is a disposable diaper. It’s basically a cloth diaper, except you don’t have to change it constantly. It’s much more convenient.”

As she spoke, she changed little Jingchen into it.

“Linglan, do you know how much a chicken costs?” Jun Wan asked casually.

She wanted to figure out the exchange rate between the silver in this world and modern currency.

“About thirty copper coins for one,” Linglan replied, putting down her food and walking over to watch how the diaper was used. She wanted to learn so that next time her mistress wouldn’t have to do it herself.

Hearing that, Jun Wan quickly calculated.

A chicken in the modern world cost around sixty yuan.

That meant one copper coin was roughly equivalent to two yuan.

And the diapers she had just bought from the space were nearly fifty times more expensive than modern prices.

After finishing, she changed little Jingchen into a fresh set of clothes.

Just then, a chaotic mixture of hurried footsteps and noisy voices sounded from outside.

Jun Wan estimated that Mo Cheng’s men had arrived.

She quickly wrapped little Jingchen in a small blanket and handed him to Nanny Lin to hold.

Then she stored away the unfinished food, composed herself, and calmly walked outside together with Nanny Lin and Linglan.
