Early morning.
Sunlight filtered through white curtains, teasing the person on the bed.
Song Wenxi opened her eyes. Her gaze was clear as she quietly looked at the crystal chandelier above her. She lifted an arm and touched the sleep dress on her body.
Last night… wasn’t a dream.
She had been too tired and too sleepy. After waking briefly, she hadn’t wanted to move at all. Subconsciously, she hadn’t resisted his closeness, so she simply fell back asleep.
Her body felt fine. She had slept peacefully through the night.
Today was Sunday, and the entire villa felt unusually quiet.
When Song Wenxi went downstairs, only Aunt Zhao was busy.
“Madam, good morning. Would you like breakfast now?”
“Morning, Aunt Zhao. I want egg rolls.”
“Alright, I’ll make them right away.”
Song Wenxi ate breakfast leisurely. The children were still upstairs. After eating her fill, she went to check on them—but when she opened the room, they weren’t there.
Strange.
At that moment, in the guest room, the three children sat on a grey bed hugging their plush toys, looking confused about this unfamiliar space.
When Song Wenxi pushed the door open, she saw three half-asleep little faces—dazed and adorable.
“Oh, so you’re here. Why did you all run to Daddy’s room?”
Clearly, they had slept here. How rare.
The three children immediately perked up and rushed over excitedly, abandoning their toys to hug her, chattering about how their father had brought them here last night.
Mo Nanqing waved his little hand, signaling her to lean closer. Song Wenxi obediently bent down. Standing on the bed, he pressed his mouth close to her ear and whispered:
“Mommy, I’ll tell you a secret. Daddy kissed my forehead last night.”
The other two children overheard him immediately. Their eyes filled with envy.
In the end, all three of them each got a “kiss” from Song Wenxi and instantly became happy again.
After washing up in the children’s room, they went off with renewed energy.
Song Wenxi knocked on the study door.
Hearing the man’s low voice inside, she pushed the door open.
Mo Hanche looked up. His gaze landed on her.
She was still in her sleep dress. For a brief moment, he thought of last night—his eyes darkened slightly, heat flickering beneath them—then he looked back at the computer screen, though his focus had already scattered.
His tone was casual.
“Awake?”
“Mm.”
Song Wenxi glanced around his study. The large room was divided by an openwork screen: one side for resting, one for working. Two full walls were lined with books. On the desk sat two small pots of succulents.
She walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and curled up in a single armchair, sitting cross-legged.
“I just wanted to tell you—you did pretty well yesterday.”
Mo Hanche suddenly looked at her. His face and ears turned two different shades—one pale, one red.
“Ahem… it’s fine if… if you don’t blame me.”
After all, no matter how many reasons he had, it still didn’t erase the fact that he had taken advantage.
If she was praising him… did that mean she didn’t mind? Or rather—she wasn’t resisting his closeness.
At first, when she suddenly broke into his life, he had suspected she had no sense of shame. But after these past few days, it didn’t seem like that at all.
Most of the kisses had been initiated by him. She didn’t resist, and he could feel that she enjoyed them—but there was always a subtle sense that she treated it as something that didn’t need to be “accounted for afterward.”
To put it simply, she enjoyed it physically.
But why… was she no longer showing disgust or impatience when looking at him?
Last night, when she briefly woke up, there had been a flash of clarity in her eyes before she lazily closed them again—almost as if she was calmly accepting his care.
Song Wenxi felt his expression was a bit strange.
That flushed, almost spring-like look—what was that supposed to mean?
Regardless of what he was thinking, she straightened her tone.
“How could I blame you? You came over immediately when we needed you—that’s a good thing. And you even helped put the kids to sleep last night. Not bad.”
Mo Hanche: “……”
He suddenly had nothing to say.
He couldn’t help but feel both embarrassed and irritated. Suddenly, he stood up, strode over to her, bent down and completely enclosed her within his presence, then lowered his head and captured her lips—forcing his way in and taking what he wanted.
The wind stirred the curtains, breaking the calm of the room. The air turned heated. Two completely different breaths tangled together, until they finally merged into one.
Mo Hanche rested his forehead against hers, one large hand covering her exposed, soft shoulder as he panted heavily, trying to suppress the restless heat within him. His voice was hoarse to the extreme.
“I thought you were praising me… saying I did a pretty good job taking care of you last night.”
Her soft, rosy face visibly flushed red. Her deer-like eyes darted around nervously as she mumbled, “I… I mean… it was… okay.”
Mo Hanche straightened and returned to his desk. His expression looked calm again, but his heartbeat was still chaotic and unsteady.
When the atmosphere in the study finally settled, Mo Hanche motioned for her to come over.
Song Wenxi pouted unconsciously in mild dissatisfaction, but still got up and walked toward him. Unexpectedly, her legs were slightly numb and she stumbled forward.
Mo Hanche rushed over in time to steady her, then simply lifted her and placed her on the chair.
He pointed at the computer screen, his voice low.
“The strange woman you saw at the art museum yesterday has been identified. Her name is Lin Mo. This is her profile—she’s a rising actress with increasing popularity recently…”
Song Wenxi carefully read through the information, tapping her fingers lightly on the desk.
In the book, there wasn’t much written about Lin Mo. The original host’s four years at Huangqi Entertainment were described only briefly, mostly in dark tones. The only mention of Lin Mo was a single line:
“In Huangqi, Song Wenxi was surrounded by malice… Lin Mo was one of the few who could be considered relatively polite.”
From the data, there had been no real prior interaction between the original host and Lin Mo. If anything, their only overlap now was this variety show—Lin Mo was also one of the regular guests.
“Based on surveillance, she had been watching you since you entered the museum,” Mo Hanche added.
“Meeting her at the museum was most likely a coincidence. She’s a public figure wearing a mask and sunglasses—it’s normal. And publicly, I’m known as unmarried. Seeing me with three kids, she was probably just curious.”
At the word “unmarried,” Mo Hanche’s expression darkened.
To the outside world, she was seen as single, which had already caused plenty of rumors. And she still refused to let others interfere in her matters…
Mo Hanche didn’t want to dwell on her so-called “chaotic” behavior any further.
“Song Wenxi,” he said coldly, “I respect your work. I don’t care what you want to do—but when you’re outside, you’d better behave yourself.”
He stared at her, waiting for anger, rebuttal, or her usual unreasonable reaction.
But she just looked back at him calmly, her eyes clear, her expression neutral. Not even a trace of anger.
“You’re so fierce,” Song Wenxi said.
Mo Hanche remained expressionless. He was increasingly unable to understand her.
“And you were kissing me so intensely just now,” she added casually.
Mo Hanche let out a light laugh. “So you actually like it when I kiss you.”
Song Wenxi nodded. “I do like it.”
Mo Hanche’s face darkened again.
Confirmed. This woman really had no shame at all.
Downstairs, the three children were already sitting neatly at the dining table.
After breakfast, Bai Shuo arrived at the Mo residence in casual sportswear. Song Wenxi glanced at him a couple of times. In a suit, he always looked serious and reserved, but now he seemed more like a gentle neighborly handsome guy.
Bai Shuo felt increasingly uneasy under her gaze. He was certain—if she looked at him one more time, his boss would freeze him to death.
“Madam, I’m here to teach the young masters self-defense,” he said.
“Alright. Let’s go to the basement gym then.”
Bai Shuo led the three little masters downstairs. Song Wenxi wanted to follow, but Mo Hanche pressed her back onto the sofa and wouldn’t let her move.
“If they’re learning, they need to take it seriously. No soft heart.”
Song Wenxi lay back casually. “I’m not soft-hearted.”
The three little ones had such tiny arms and legs—surely Bai Shuo wouldn’t use anything inhumane on them, right?
In her previous life, she had been forced by her brother to learn some basic combat skills. She knew exactly how tiring and painful it could be.
