The sun had gone down a while before Hailey carefully opened her window and slid out.

Dave flew out after her, though he wondered how she planned on getting back inside as she dropped to the ground.

However, with the ease which she landed, he couldn’t help but wonder if she’d done this before, which would mean she probably had some plan in mind to get back in through her window when it was just above her head when she stood below it.Full novel: Trapped as a Magical Girl’s Mascot — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Dave hoped that she knew what she was doing, but he wasn’t going to complain.

Not when she was the one who wanted to find an alternate location to start her training.

Although, Dave wondered if maybe she should have transformed before she left, seeing as how she didn’t need to call out her transformation phrase loudly.

Not to mention the fact that she would have had all the privacy she’d have wanted inside her own room.

At least considering the blanket she threw on him when she changed into her pajamas before taking a nap and again before she put on a pair of shorts and shirt after her nap.

“Where are we going?” Dave asked, suspecting she was making this up as she went along.

“You’ll see,” she said, as she started walking casually from her house.

Dave couldn’t help but wonder if she was really that interested in training at this time, that she would have been moving with more purpose.

He didn’t expect her to run the entire way, but at the same time, he would have thought that she would have set more than a casual pace.

Not that he was really complaining, since he was surprised at how tiring it was for him to fly after her.

He wasn’t sure if it was because he was new to being a stuffed animal, or faerie as Hoshi had put it, or if it was due to some other factor that he wasn’t quite aware of just yet.

However, one thing he was confident about was the fact that he needed to stay quiet until they were out of the residential area, seeing as how he couldn’t say when someone would be watching from the shadows of their porch.

Which was something he’d encountered enough when he’d been human and homeless.

While Hailey seemed like she was merely out for a casual walk, Dave had to admit that she knew where she was going when she didn’t hesitate when she reached a street corner or when she reached a fence that had a hole in it that Dave hadn’t noticed until they got closer.

Eventually they reached an abandoned factory.

One that Dave would have loved to have found when he was homeless, as it was clear that no one had been living there and he would have been able to sleep much more soundly from that fact alone.

Although, he supposed he’d have to first see how often the police patrolled this area, since that would be one factor that would put an end to any training they had at this place.

“Alright, turn around,” Hailey told Dave suddenly.

“Why?” “Why?

Because I need to transform, that’s why.” “Why didn’t you do that in your room?

You could have thrown the blanket over me again while you did that,” Dave replied, wishing they could be on the same page.

If only because it hardly felt like they were working together on this when he felt that they should try to be more of a team.

“Because I can’t walk here looking like that,” Hailey retorted, as if that fact should have been obvious.

Which Dave supposed was a fair point.

An outfit like her magical girl attire would certainly draw attention that they probably wouldn’t want.

Not to mention how much younger she looked as a magical girl.

“Okay,” Dave said, turning around, wondering if this was going to be a regular thing or not.

“Crystal soul shatter,” Hailey called out.

Dave couldn’t help but wonder if she was trying to draw attention here, but he didn’t think now was the time to get on her case about that.

Not when they hadn’t done any training just yet.

Especially when there was so many other possibilities of why she was being so loud with her transformation.

“Okay, you can look now,” Hailey, or Crystal Flower, said.

Which surprised Dave because it wasn’t until that moment that he realized her voice was slightly different.

Not in any way that he could easily put his finger, or wing in this case, on, just that there were subtle differences that made it an entirely different voice.

While it could have been that Crystal Flower appeared younger than she did when she wasn’t transformed, Dave was pretty sure that that fact was only a part of the whole thing.

That there was something else there that either caused or made that difference that he was able to detect.

So, Dave made a mental note to keep an eye on that.

He wasn’t sure if it would be important, but it at least felt important.

“So, what’re you going to do on your first training session?” Dave asked as he turned back around to face Crystal Flower in her magical girl attire.

“I was going to see if I could repeat some of what I did in my fight with Dragonfly.” “Okay, but first should I just call you ‘Crystal’ or ‘Flower’?

Because calling you ‘Crystal Flower’ might be a bit of a mouthful over time.” Crystal Flower blinked, clearly surprised at Dave’s question.

“Uh, I guess ‘Crystal’?” she answered, looking like she wasn’t sure how to respond to his question but answering it anyway.

Which was something Dave could work with.

“Alright then.

Let me know if you need anything from me.” Crystal nodded, though Dave wasn’t sure if she was really happy to have him along or not.

As it was hard to tell with her right then.

He hoped that she was, as he wasn’t sure what he’d do if she wanted him to leave at some point.

Though, as she started what he supposed was her ‘training’ he settled down to watch.

Hoping that he’d prove useful at some point rather than just being a plush toy to her.
