While he supposed it would help if he’d done this already or had at least some idea of what exactly he was doing, Dave focused on the pressure of the girl’s magical potential as he drew a blank as to what to do after that.

Sighing, he decided to seek help from the voice.

I’m really not sure what you mean by adding my ‘potential’ to theirs.” *Seriously?!

This is one of the most basic things around.

You already turned yourself into a plush toy, so how can you be missing how to do this!?* the voice cried, making Dave wonder if he could get ear damage from the voice inside his head.

“Actually, you were the one who turned me into a plush toy, not me.

So, I’m sorry if I didn’t get how that connected with me turning girls into magical girls,” Dave replied, wondering if he should just give up, become human again, and ignore the voice from now on.

*I did?* the voice asked, sounding like it had already forgotten.

Dave had already decided this wasn’t a system, or at least not in the way that he’d ever seen in a webnovel.

As for one, it certainly didn’t strike him as especially reliable.

Another was that it couldn’t say what kind of system it was.

Yet, if it wasn’t a system, Dave wasn’t sure what it was, just that it wasn’t what it had claimed to be.

Which would be another matter to deal with later.

If he was still willing to deal with this voice later.

“Yes, you did,” Dave affirmed, feeling like he was quickly losing patience.

*Alright, so I guess I did.

Then that means you need to imagine pushing your potential into the girl’s magical potential.

Think of it as pouring two liquids into the same container.

They’ll mix automatically and what you’ll get is a magical girl when everything’s settled.* Dave sighed again.

If this didn’t work or he just couldn’t get the hang of it, he was going to wait until he could find a way to get out of here, convince the voice to turn him back into a human, and wash his hands of this whole matter.

Dave closed his eyes as he focused on the girl’s magical potential, ignoring all noises, including the ambient noises of the hospital that he could hear outside of the room the girl was in.

As he did, he suddenly felt like there was a pressure coming from him that seemed very similar to the magical potential from the girl.

Dave wasn’t sure if that was his potential, or how he’d even gotten that in the first place, but he imagined tossing it into the girl’s potential, as if he was tossing a ball into a sphere of water.

He wasn’t sure what to expect, but what happened made him nearly fall off the gurney.

It almost felt like an explosion and he felt the girl’s magical potential disappear.

In Its place was something that felt more solid, even if it didn’t extend as far as the potential did.

Somehow Dave could tell that the process was complete and the girl was a magical girl now.

Dave was about to move out from under the gurney to take a good look at the girl for the first time when suddenly the door opened and the doctor returned, but this time had a man and another girl with him.

The man looked to be in his forties and the girl looked like she might have been eight.

The man had brown hair and deep green eyes while the girl beside him was blonde and had bright green eyes.

*Wow, that girl has almost as much potential as the girl in the gurney!* the voice exclaimed, startling Dave.

He could sense the potential of the girl, but he didn’t say that.

In fact, he worried about drawing attention to himself.

At least before he could talk with the girl and get her consent to being an actual magical girl.

After that, he wasn’t sure about what he’d do.

“Your daughter is lucky.

All she had was a broken nose, but we’re not sure why she’s unconscious.

It’s possible that there was other damage that we missed, but right now we’re waiting to see what her condition is when she wakes up,” the doctor said, making Dave want to clench his teeth when he heard the conflicting statement the doctor was making to what he assumed was the girl’s father.

While he could give the doctor some leeway in making the situation not as bad as it was, Dave wondered if there was anything in the Hippocratic oath about making false statements to parents of patients, but that wasn’t his business.

Especially since he was already in an ethical gray area as well.

As the father walked towards the gurney, Dave noticed how the other girl kept her distance from the man.

He wondered if maybe the girl was actually a friend of the girl who he’d just made into a magical girl, rather than her sister.

Where, if she was a friend, he had a sinking feeling of how old the girl was.

Something he realized he should have checked on before actually completing the process of turning her into a magical girl.

However, he realized that there wasn’t anything for him to do about that now.

Not when the process was already complete and was probably irreversible, regardless of what he’d rather be possible.

“How did this happen?” the man asked, not reaching out to his daughter.

“I just heard that there was an accident on her white-water rafting trip.” Dave blinked, completely missing what the doctor’s response was.

He wasn’t sure how old a person needed to be to go on a white-water rafting trip, but he doubted that young children would be up for challenges like that.

Which at least gave him hope that the girl was older than he had started to worry she was.

“Come with me, sir.

We have some paperwork we need you to fill out,” the doctor said as Dave’s focus returned to what was going on around him.

“Your other daughter can keep her company.”
