the meetings , the reports and the endless responsibility.

My gaze shifted to the box kept on the side

Cookies

Mom’s Cookies

A small smile appread on my face

At least i remembered .

Twenty minutes later, my car entered the Watson residence.

The large gates opened automatically.

The mansion stood proudly under the evening lights.

To most people, it was luxurious.

To me, it was simply home.

I stepped inside.

Before i could even take my coat a familiar voice echoed through the hall

“Kuya”

I looked up

“What is there in ur hand , what is that box ?” Keigan asked

“For mom”.

I replied

And i was about the go ahead my world appeared .

“Keifer , you remembered ” she said

“Ofcourse” i replied

She came to me took the box and opened it

She took the first bite and said

” I love it ”

Her face brighten

A smile appeared on my face .

For a brief moment, the stress of the entire day vanished .

To this i remembered something

“She will love it too”

The girl from the bakery.

“Have it , keifer” she offered me

“No mom ”

“These cookies are soo good and so tasty

Taste it , for me please” she said

And after this i couldn’t argue more

So i just took one n tasted it

And actually they were so tasty.

“Liked it?” Mom asked

“Yes” i replied

“Then bring it tomorrow also .” Mom said

“Again ???”

“Yesss ” she replied

“Momm”

“Yess you have to and How was the work?” Mom asked

“Usual” i replied

Which really meant exhausting .

She narrowed her eyes.

“Which means terrible.”

I sighed.

“Something like that.”

Serina laughed softly.

“You work too much.”

“I have responsibilities.”

“And I have a son who forgets how to rest.”

I couldn’t say anything

There was no point of arguing

My mom is always right.

Always.

Authors Pov –

After the dinner

Serina sat on the couch.

Keigan in his room doing the projects

Kaizar is on a company trip .

Keifer went to his room

He changed into the night suit.

And came back in the hall

As he saw his mom

He didn’t waste a second

And went quickly near the couch and

Rested his head is his mom laps

Serina froze for a second

Then smiled

She starting playing with his hairs.

Keifer closed his eyes.

Keifer’s pov –

The best place to rest

Is sitting with my mom

The place where i am just a little child of her

No company, no responsibility, no pressure

Just peace .

I closed my eyes

And started thinking how happy my mom was when she ate the cookies

This means the world to me .

As this again remembered me of the bakery girl.

What was her name?

I frowned.

I didn’t even know.

She was just a bakery employee.

A stranger.

Someone I would probably never think about again.

So why was I remembering her smile?

It made no sense.

I wasn’t interested in people.

Especially strangers.

Yet every time I thought about the bakery…

I remembered her.

Her smile didn’t seem forced.

Or fake.

It felt genuine.

“What are you thinking about?”

Mom’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

I opened my eyes and looked at her.

“Nothing.”

She laughed softly.

“You only say that when something is bothering you.”

“It’s work.”

“Liar.”

I sighed.

Somehow, Mom always knew.

“Maybe you’re finally interested in someone.”

My eyes immediately opened.

“Interested ??”

“And me ??”

“Absolutely not.”

Serina laughed.

“That reaction tells me everything.”

Authors pov –

Keifer sat up immediately.

His expression remained calm, but Serina could see the slight annoyance on his face.

Teasing him was one of her favorite hobbies.

“Mom.”

“What?”

“Stop creating stories.”

“I’m not creating anything.”

Her smile widened.

“I’m just saying you’ve been thinking for the last ten minutes.”

Keifer shook his head.

“Good night.”

Before Serina could tease him further, he stood and walked toward his room.

Yet even after closing the door…

The image of the bakery girl remained in his mind.

Comment it and let me know.
