Keifer’s Pov –
The morning passed exactly the way every morning usually did.
Meetings.
Reports.
Phone calls.
Deadlines.
Yet for some reason, my mind wasn’t completely focused on work today.
Every now and then, the image of the bakery girl helping the elderly woman appeared in my mind.
I frowned.
Why was I even thinking about it?
She was just a stranger.
A bakery employee.
Someone I barely knew.
Yet I could still picture her helping that woman without hesitation.
The traffic light turned green in my memory.
But even after driving away…
The image had stayed.
A knock on my office door interrupted my thoughts.
“Sir, the meeting is ready.”
I nodded.
“Coming.”
The rest of the day passed quickly.
By evening, I felt exhausted.
I was about to leave when my phone rang.
Caller ID – Mom
A small smile appeared on my face.
“Hello.”
“Keifer.”
I immediately knew she wanted something.
“What happened?”
“The cookies are finished.”
I closed my eyes.
Already?
“Mom, I bought them yesterday.”
“They were good.”
I sighed.
“Fine.”
“Bring more.”
A smile appeared on my face despite myself.
“Okay.”
The call ended.
For some reason…
The thought of returning to Moonveil Bakery didn’t bother me.
Not at all.
Authors Pov –
The evening sun painted the city in shades of orange and gold.
Moonveil Bakery remained busy as always.
Customers entered and left carrying boxes of pastries and bread.
Behind the counter stood Jay Jay.
Her smile remained as warm as ever.
Yet every now and then…
Her gaze shifted to the silver pen in her purse
The pen still hadn’t been claimed.
Maybe the owner had forgotten about it.
Maybe he would never return.
Before she could think further
The bell above the entrance chimed.
Ding.
Jay Jay looked up.
And froze.
The man in the black suit.
He was back.
Jay Jay’s Pov –
The customer from before.
The one who bought cookies for his mother.
He came forward
“A Box of Almond Cookies”
“The usual order ?” I asked
“Yes , my mom loved it soo much” he replied
I nodded and packed the box and handed to him
After paying as he was about to go
I remembered the pen
“Sir”
“Yes?” He asked
“Wait a second” i said n went to my purse and took out the pen
I handed him the pen
“You forgot this ” I said
For a brief moment he stared at the pen and again to me
Then at the pen
He took the pen in his hands
“Thank You” he replied with a smile
“Good Night” the voice came from my mouth without any hesitation
For a brief moment he stared at me
“Good Night ” he said and leaving.
Authors Pov –
For some reason
Watching him leave felt strangely familiar.
As if she had seen him somewhere before.
Yet she quickly shook the thought away and returned to work.
Keifer’s Pov –
As I entered the bakery again
The bakery girl was standing packing someone’s order .
I placed my order and she asked the usual order
I replied my mom loved it
But to be honest i too loved it
They were tasty
Thinking this , a smile appread on my face.
As I was about to leave she handed me my pen
I forgot it here
For some reason I was shock
This one is gifted to me by my mom
How can I forget this
My gaze shifted to the bakery girl holding it
The pen.
Yet somehow…
She remembered.
She had kept it safe.
Most people wouldn’t have bothered.
But she did.
I accepted the pen.
And I was about to leave
I heard something
Other employee of the bakery said
“Jay Jay , can you help me ?
”
“Yes, coming ” she replied
Her name jay jay
So that was her name.
A simple name.
Yet somehow…
It suited her perfectly.
The bell chimed again as I walked out of the bakery.
Yet for some reason…
The name remained in my mind all the way home.
Jay Jay. This chapter was taken from g.com without permission.
And for the first time…
It felt like a name worth remembering.

Later that evening…
Keifer finally returned home.
The moment he entered the house, Serina appeared.
“Did you bring the cookies?”
Keifer handed her the box.
“You care more about these cookies than me.”
Serina gasped dramatically.
“Impossible.”
“I love both equally.”
Keifer shook his head.
A few moments later, Serina took a bite.
Her eyes immediately brightened.
“Perfect!”
Keifer smiled slightly.
Then, without realizing it, a familiar name crossed his mind.
Jay Jay.
The girl from the bakery.
The girl who remembered his pen.
The girl who always smiled.
For some reason…
Thinking about her made him smile.
A smile he didn’t even notice.
But Serina did.
And that made her curious.
Seeing his mother happy always made his day better.
As he turned to leave, Serina suddenly spoke.
“You know…”
Keifer looked back.
“The girl working at that bakery seems very kind.”
For a brief second…
His steps paused.
Only for a second.
Yet Serina noticed.
“When did you meet her?” he asked casually.
“Oh?”
Serina raised an eyebrow.
“So there IS a girl.”
“Mom.”
“What?”
Keifer shook his head and continued toward the stairs.
But as he entered his room…
A familiar name appeared in his mind once again.
Jay Jay.
The girl who remembered his pen.
The girl who smiled at everyone.
The girl who somehow remained in his thoughts.
Keifer stared at the ceiling.
Then frowned.
Why was he thinking about her again?
He didn’t know.
And somehow…
That bothered him more than it should have.
Outside his room, Serina smiled knowingly.
Something told her…
This wasn’t the last time she would hear that name.
