"Alright, dear. I just wanted you to know breakfast is ready. So, I'll leave you to it."
"Thanks, Mom."
"Anytime, dear. Oh, I also needed some help carrying something to the car, but I suppose I'll just ask Odette instead."
"If it's heavy, I'd be happy to..."
"It's not heavy, dear. Thank you. I'm sure Odette can manage it herself." Rowena assured him before leaving the room to find Odette.
Soon after, Odette and Rowena could be seen walking out to Rowena's Aston Martin, parked in the garage.
In front of her, Odette was carrying a medium-sized box out to the car.
Then she asked Rowena.
"Should I place it in the back seat, ma'am?"
"Yes, that would be perfect. Thank you, Odette."
Once the box was placed where it should be, Odette turned around and asked. "Anything else, ma'am?"
"That would be all, Odette." Rowena announced and was about to return to the house, but she suddenly stopped instead.
"Oh, on second thought, I would like to thank you for sharing the private information I specifically asked you not to share with anyone, only to find out you had the audacity to share it with my own son. It seems to me, you're ready to move on from this job. Maybe it's because you're not satisfied with your salary, huh? Very well then, I'm sure you're prepared for the consequences that come with doing things without consulting me first." Rowena announced in a very serious tone, and Odette instantly felt her heart clenched in fear as she realised her conversation with Logan last night must have been overheard by her boss.
This instantly made her drop to her knees immediately.
"I'm so sorry, ma'am. I shouldn't have said anything to the young master. But he really wanted to know, and I thought if he knew the truth, he could..."
Rowena gestured for Odette not to say anything else, and she stopped immediately.
"It's alright, Odette. If I wanted to fire you, I would have texted you last night. I'm simply unhappy that you told my son before consulting me, that's all."
"I'm so sorry, ma'am. I truly am. I know no words can express how..."
"It's fine, Odette. But I can't promise your safety if you deliberately disobey me again."
"I won't, ma'am. I promise."
"I hope so. For both our sakes. Besides, it seems my little peanut likes you, and I have no intention of doing anything that would make him sad. Not ever again because he deserves to be happy, and I'm happy whenever I see him that way. So we'll pretend this conversation never happened, and I expect the two of you to remain close. Understood?"
"Yes, ma'am." Odette nodded, and the two of them returned to the house as though nothing had happened at all.
After a while, all three of them sat down to eat breakfast in the dining room together for the first time.
Of course, Logan had mentioned to his mother that he wanted Odette eating with them from now on, and Rowena had agreed without hesitation because she'd been considering it for a while now.
But what he didn't know was that she had overheard them talking about it last night, so she had mentally decided to grant Odette the chance to join them in eating from now on.
And so, the trio continued to enjoy their meal together as a family.
But midway through the meal, as Odette took a sip of water, Logan decided to drop a bombshell.
"Mom, I'm thinking of going on a date with Odette this weekend."
"Pfft!!"
Odette spat out a mouthful of water on reflex, but she managed to catch the rest painfully down her throat.
Meanwhile, Rowena was equally caught off guard as well. "Oh my. I never knew you two had gotten this close."
"We're just getting to know each other better, and Odette mentioned a new restaurant that's popular in Alabama City, so we thought we'd check it out this weekend." Logan replied.
Odette had sent him the venue that morning, and he figured now was as good a time as any to bring it up, but his mother didn't look too pleased about it.
"Hm. I recall telling you, just two nights ago, that I wasn't letting you out of my sight ever again. And now you're leaving the city, somewhere I might not see you for two whole days?"
"I'm sorry, Mom. I just thought I should do something nice for Odette, after everything she did for me."
"I understand, dear. But Mommy expects some kind of reward too, since I won't be seeing you for a while."
"Anything you want, mom. Just name it."
"How about a date with me, too. Once you're back."
"I don't think it's normal for mothers and sons to go on dates together." Logan stated to his mother before stealing a glance at his bodyguard whose face was still so red in disbelief of how Logan had boldly told his mother he was going out on a date with her.
Of course, Logan found her expression extremely cute and he definitely wanted to tease her about it, but he decided not to do that for now as he redirected his gaze back to his mother.
"Just because humans don't do it doesn't mean we have to follow their customs." Rowena playfully smiled as she added.
"Besides, what's wrong with spending one-on-one time with your own mother?" Rowena asked cutely before recalling something important, and her expression became serious again.
"Oh, that's right. It's actually good timing that you're heading to Alabama City, because I have a task I need Odette's help with."
"What do you mean?" Logan asked, and Odette glanced at her boss immediately.
The shy expression she had on her face instantly vanished along with the redness as well because her boss clearly needed her help with something and that means she had to give Rowena her full attention.
Meanwhile, Rowena turned to her son as she replied. "Your Aunt Delphine, my best friend, is flying back to Alabama City from France on my private jet tonight, and she'll need someone she trusts to drive her home, and I was hoping Odette could be the one to do it."
