It was a cane.

But not just any cane.

Instead, it was sleek and black and it had a silver handle sculpted in a unique shape.Full novel: Urban Elf System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

At first glance, one would think it was just an accessory, but since it was Odette holding it herself, Logan couldn't help but feel that the cane might not actually be a cane.

"What's that for?" Logan asked as he nodded at it, and Odette noticed his gaze aimed at the cane on her lap.

"It's a weapon."

"A weapon?"

"Yeah, if I do this, it becomes a sword." Odette pulled the edge a little and Logan instantly noticed the steel blade hidden beneath the sleek, black covering.

"Woah, that's pretty cool. I've never seen a sword like that before."

"Yeah, the boss got it for me, so I brought it along in case I might need it."

"You think something might happen on our way back to Aunt Delphine's mansion?"

"I can't say, but I also don't want to be unprepared if anything unexpected happens. Your safety is extremely important to me."

“Oh wow. I never knew you could flirt as well. Look at you acting all strong and protective, you’re trying to melt my heart, aren’t you?” Logan asked in a teasing tone that caught Odette completely by surprise.

"H-huh?"

"I see how you're willing to do so much for me, and it makes me feel really happy. Maybe I should give you something more than just having a date."

"W-What? N-no. I-I don't..."

"Hmm, maybe I should give you a kiss for being the best bodyguard in the world?"

"......" Odette's face and ears instantly turned red as she lost her voice and the words she had in mind instantly vanished.

She was certain that if she managed to say anything right now, every word would be a babble of incoherent words for her young master to comprehend.

Meanwhile, Logan couldn't help but grin inwardly.

He loved teasing his cute and beautiful bodyguard, and right now was no different because her reaction to his teases was simply the best.

"Anyways, I kinda understand why you brought a weapon along. I guess it's nice I came along with mine as well." Logan muttered softly, and Odette's expression instantly turned serious as she glanced at her young master.

"You have a weapon too?"

"Yeah, it's..."

"No, don't bring it out." Logan gestured as if he was about to pull something out of his back pocket, but Odette instantly stopped him.

She could understand why he would need to have a weapon with him for self-defence, and Odette wasn't against it, but she was genuinely surprised by how he had hidden it so well, even she hadn't seen it till now.

In other words, it was best for him to leave it tucked wherever it was, so as to be on the safe side.

But just right then, everyone's attention drifted back to the tarmac because a set of runway lights blinked on in the distance, indicating that Delphine's plane was about to land.

The plane landed, and a few moments later, a beautiful and stunning lady stepped through the private terminal door.

Looking closely, the first thing he noticed was how perfect her figure was.

Of course, his mother's chest was unlike anything he'd seen before, but Delphine was equally as impressive as that of Rowena.

'Were all elves like this?'

He wondered.

And yes, that's right.

His Aunt Delphine was a dark elf, but she was equally as beautiful and stunning as his mother.

'Maybe that would explain why both were so close as friends.'

Logan joked inwardly, but swiftly brushed such thoughts away with a wave of his hand.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, Delphine stepped through the private terminal's doors, and her eyes immediately spotted the handsome elf standing and awaiting her arrival.

Seeing him, Delphine immediately called out to him in a happy and excited tone, almost as though she hadn't seen him in years.

Well, that's exactly the reason why she was so excited right now.

"Logan! Mon cher!"

Delphine instantly crossed the distance between them in quick steps as her heels clicked against the tile.

Then she pulled him into a big hug, tight enough to lift him slightly off his feet.

Well, since his face was squashed on her bountiful goodness, who was he to complain about such a heavenly reward?

"Oh my, Mon cher, look at you. You're so grown and so handsome too."

"Thanks, Aunt Delphine." Logan smiled softly as he pulled back softly from the hug.

However, he had noticed something very unique about his aunt already, and it was her French accent when speaking.

Besides, she had called him Mon cher twice now, and although he clearly did not know what it meant, he could only imagine it was a term of endearment used for him, and this made him genuinely curious as to what the word really meant.

Maybe later, he'll search the meaning of the word.

"Oh, that's right." Delphine said as she dragged his attention back to her.

"I heard it. Is it true? About what your mother told me on the phone, that you have lost your memories?" Delphine asked with a worried look on her face.

Seeing this, Logan smiled and nodded in response.

"Yeah, a lot of it, but I'm recalling a few things little by little." Logan replied, and Delphine's expression softened even more.

"Oh mon cher. I am so sorry to hear that. So you do not remember me, non?" Delphine asked as she hugged him again, but tighter this time, and with one hand cradling the back of his head, almost as if he was still the small child she remembered carrying in her arms all those years ago.

"No, not really."

"It's fine, Mon cher. This just means we'll have to spend more time together to help jog back all those lost memories, and besides, aunty will be happy to create more happy memories with you as well if you don't mind."

"I'd like that."

"That's my favourite nephew." Delphine smiled before finally releasing him, then she glanced at the beautiful half-elf standing behind Logan.

"Oh my, look at you, Odette. Still beautiful as always. Thanks for always looking after my nephew."

Odette offered a polite nod as she reached for Delphine's luggage, but before Odette could take it, Delphine suddenly held up a finger when she noticed her phone buzzing.

She gestured to Logan as well before saying. "One moment, Mon cher. I must make a call before we leave."

The first buzz was her phone alarm, reminding Delphine to make a call upon her arrival.

The call was to someone very important to Delphine, and she didn't want to miss it, especially since the person she was about to call was her late husband's daughter.
