When we arrived at the police station, we saw Lucas mopping the floor.
Lucas looked at us and went inside without saying anything.
We were led by Lydia and Dorian to the police station.
They put us in one cell.
Damon was upset.
He sat down on the ground in the corner.
Max was standing near the iron bars.
Lydia remains in the police station, and Dorian went out for a walk.
I was sitting on the bench, scratching the surface underneath the bench.
I was shaking my right leg.
Lucas passed by my cell, but he did not look at me.
A short while later, Lucas bids Lydia farewell and exits the police station.
I was surprised that he did not talk to me.
For me, his behavior was suspicious because when I met him earlier, he was nice, but now he does not look at me.
I was gazing at Lucas, denatured, at the police station.
Meanwhile, Damon came over to me and stood in front of me.
He looked at me with narrow eyes.
He raked his fingers through his hair.
I pressed my lips together in a thin line.
Are you nervous?” Damon asked.
His voice was steady.
I squeezed my eyes shut and a minute later opened them.
The corners of my mouth turned up into a smile.
“What do you mean?” I spoke.
My voice was soft.
I crossed my legs.
I clasped my hands in my lap.
Damon gave his head a nod in frustration.
“Tell me why you are nervous, or if you are not, then stop shaking your leg because it is making me nervous,” Daman said.
His voice was firm.
Before I said anything, Max jumped into the conversation.
“Leave her alone,” he said.
His voice was trembling with rage.
Damon scoffed.
“Oh, I forgot you two are best friends.
If one is in trouble, the other one comes to the rescue,” Damon said.
I sensed hatred in his voice.
When I heard that, I stood up and looked at Damon.
“I am not his friend.
I do not know him,” I said.
My voice was unwavering.
Damon avoided eye contact, rubbing his head with his right hand before shaking his head dismissively.
“Umm, if you are not his friend or you do not know him, why did you tell everyone that he is not the one who attacked you and the Ken family?” Damon asked.
His voice was laced with surprise and suspicion.
I cautiously took a step back.
“Because it was true that he did not attack us.
We were attacked by a wolf.
I am quite sure that it was a wolf,” I said while sitting down on the bench.
Damon returned to the corner and sat down on the ground, leaning against the wall.
He silently lowered his gaze.
The room fell silent.
“Well, he did not attack you, but he burned down Terry’s house, and he is dead,” Daman said.
His words are sharp with anger.
Max got upset.
He reached for Damon.
“Get up.
I said, Get up.” Max’s voice was steady.
Damon, who was sitting on the ground, lifted his head and glanced at Max.
“Just go away,” Damon said while nodding.
“Huh…
so now you want me to go away?
I am tired of your false accusations.
I cannot take it anymore.
I want you to get up and prove how I burned the house,” Max said.
His voice was a taut string, humming with anger.
Damon’s hand squeezes into fists.
“Walk away,” Damon said, gritting his teeth.
“Hey, I am not walking away this time.
I want to end this today,” Max said while grabbing Damon’s shirt.
Max forced Damon to stand up.
“Take your hands off me,” Damon said.
His voice cracked the silence.
Damon clutched Max’s hand, wrapped his finger around Max’s wrist, and forced him to let his shirt go.
Damon then gave Max a double-handed shove.
Meanwhile, Lydia screamed.
“Knock it off.
Take your hands off of each other.” Her voice was excessively loud.
“Or I will come inside and beat you both up.” Max stands straight.
Max drew a long breath.
Max adjusted his shirt.
“Hmm… I was at the police station when someone burned down the house.
I do not want you to tell everyone a lie,” Max spoke.
His voice was firm.
Damon dropped his arms to his side.
He balled his fists.
“You know what happened?
I know that you and your friends did not like him because he is different.
And today you found out that he is alone in the house, and one of your friends suggested that we should scare him because it will be fun, so you burn the house down and kill him,” Damon said.
His voice was wavering.
Damon’s eyes welled up with emotion.
Max covered his face with both his hands.
Max started rocking in the jail cell.
“I am telling you one last time that I did not kill anyone, and Marty said there was no one in the house when a fire ignited in the house.
Don’t worry about anything, I’m sure.
Terry is currently intoxicated and likely relishing life at a bar.” Max said with quiet tone.
They are now annoying me.
Since I got here.
I saw them arguing with each other.
I am pretty sure both have trust issues.
I held my head with both of my hands.
And they started arguing again, which was bothering me.
I suddenly rose to my feet and jumped into the conversation.
Damon was right.
Terry is dead.
And how can you forget that man in flames?” I spoke with the authority.
Damon’s and Max’s eyes widened dramatically with surprise.
“What are you saying?” They speak at the same time.
There was shakiness in their voices.
I nodded my head slightly.
I was wringing my hands.
“I do not know if I should tell you or not, but you both are arguing like kids, so I think I should tell you that I saw a dead body in the house.
The dead body had burned and was unrecognizable,” I said.
My voice was thin and shaky.
In the meantime, Marty walked up to the jail cell and looked at me with an angry face.
It seemed from his face that he was not in a pleasant mood.
“Do you know what we are talking about?” he spoke with barely concealed anger.
I was just staring at Marty.
Marty started unlocking the door.
He stepped into the jail cell, grabbed my hand, led me outside, and took me into the corner.
“Why are you spreading rumors?” Marty asked.
His emotion was frantic.
I was sensing that Marty is fierce.
His face turned red like he would blow up in any minute.
I gulped.
I started playing with the bracelet on my wrist.
spoke in a soft voice.
“I told them what I saw in the house.”
“You saw nothing in the house because we did not find any human remains there,” Marty said.
His voice dropped to a near-inaudible level.
Marty pressed me against the wall.
Marty shifted his gaze from my face to Damon and Max.
Marty yelled.
“She does not know what she is talking about.
I want to tell you, Damon, that Terry is fine because the house was empty when the fire ignited” Marty delivered his words with firmness.
I sat down on the chair and did not say anything.
I started staring out the window.
I was confused by Marty claiming that the house was empty.
Because I heard them talking about the corpse in the house.
I want you to call your parents to take you home or give me their number and I will talk to them myself,” Marty said while walking away.
In the meantime, Max gave Damon a single-handed shove.
“This is what I am trying to tell him.” Damon silently lowered his gaze for a second while placing his hands on his waist.
Damon clenched his fists, and his knuckles turned white.
Damaon then punched Max across his face.
In the meantime, Marty stepped in and grabbed Max’s left arm and dragged him outside, throwing him into the other jail cell.
“What did I do?
He punched me!” Max yelled.
“You pushed him first,” Marty said while locking the door.
Marty walked to the chair and sat on it in front of Lydia.
Lydia looked at Marty.
Lydia winds down to Marty’s side.
“Is Terry dead?” Lydia asked.
Marty’s eyes grew large with surprise.
Before Marty says something.
We heard noises outside, like someone crying or screaming.
Lydia and Marty rose to their feet and dashed outside, where they saw a man standing with bloody clothes.
Blood was dripping from his hand, and there was something written on the ground in blood: “You are mine.”
“What the heck is happening in this town?” Marty yelled, and I could hear the fear in his voice.
