Shorts, the Old-school Duelists Have a Meltdown!
# Chapter 5: The Synchro Axis!
Spirit Dragon and Azure-Eyes!
Seto Kaiba was currently mired in a profound sense of self-doubt!
Meanwhile, the video blogger “BrideIsMine” had already moved on to discussing the two essential Fusion Monsters for the deck.
BrideIsMine: “That’s about it for the Fusion segment. In practice, the card you’ll summon most often is Blue-Eyes Alternative Ultimate Dragon!”
BrideIsMine: “As for the original Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, Blue-Eyes Twin Burst, or even Dragon Master Knight… they’re mostly just fodder to be discarded for Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon’s multi-attack effect.”
BrideIsMine: “Of course, a Blue-Eyes Fusion build can also run Blue-Eyes Tyrant Dragon, which is a great beatstick. Now, let’s take a look at which cards we’ll be running in the Synchro segment.”
[Card Name: Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon (Level 9)]
[Attribute: Light]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK/DEF: 2500/3000]
[Effect: 1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner Normal Monsters]
[①: If this card is Special Summoned: Until the end of the next turn, Dragon-Type monsters you currently control cannot be targeted or destroyed by card effects.]
[②: Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: You can target 1 Normal Monster in your GY; Special Summon it.]
In the following seconds of the video, the Blue-Eyes Synchro monsters appeared.
The silver-white card, shimmering with a pale radiance, immediately caught the eyes of the duelists in the old-school worlds!
*Is this it?!*
*The white Duel Monster cards they had never seen before?*
*And what on earth was a ‘Synchro’?*
*A Tuner…
and a non-Tuner?*
…
**DM World**
Seto Kaiba’s original train of thought was shattered the moment this card appeared!
The 2500 Attack points weren’t the focus for him!
The focus was the effect!
“It actually provides effect destruction immunity to all Dragon monsters?!”
This was true protection!
A rare form of resistance that could be granted to his entire draconic legion!
And the Standby Phase effect was even more absurd!
Unconditional resurrection of a Normal Monster from the Graveyard!
Without a doubt, this was an absolute relic designed to support the Blue-Eyes White Dragon!
“Wait! Is this supposed to be another ace card for the Blue-Eyes?”
“Kaiba! Do you have any idea what ‘Tuner’ and ‘non-Tuner’ mean?”
“Do you understand how to summon it?”
Atem, the Pharaoh residing within Yugi Muto, could no longer contain himself and took control of Yugi’s body.
His flurry of questions left the nearby Seto Kaiba speechless.
Kaiba wanted to say something, but the words wouldn’t come!
Indeed.
What exactly was a ‘Tuner monster’?
“Yugi! These white cards might be an entirely new method of summoning,” Tea Gardner analyzed calmly.
“Like Fusion or Rituals! ‘Tuning’ might just be the requirement!”
Beside them, Joey Wheeler, who had been ready to crack a joke, also quieted down.
Elsewhere, Bakura, Ishizu, and Marik all frowned.
*Tuner monsters…?*
…
**GX World**
Jaden Yuki scratched the back of his head.
Looking at the white card, he felt his brain starting to overheat.
As someone who only loved Fusion Heroes, he naturally couldn’t grasp the concept of Synchro!
“Mamma mia!” Professor Crowler shouted, clutching his head.
“This looks like those fake cards the street vendors print! Since when did Duel Monsters have white cards? Why wasn’t I informed?!”
Despite his outburst, he knew deep down that these white cards were undoubtedly real.
“It’s true,” Alexis Rhodes said, covering her mouth, her voice filled with confusion and bewilderment.
“The Blue-Eyes White Dragon is President Kaiba’s ace deck. Even he has never used this…”
“Hmph. Interesting alternative cards and duel rules,” Zane Truesdale let out a cold chuckle.
He wasn’t particularly surprised by the appearance of the cards.
“I want to see exactly what kind of combos a Blue-Eyes deck can pull off once these white cards are added.”
…
**5D’s World**
Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlas traded glances.
Unlike the residents of the previous two worlds, they understood the power of this Synchro card perfectly!
“The power level is decent. It’s a huge buff for a Dragon deck,” Yusei muttered to himself, his mind already analyzing the possibilities.
“But it requires a Normal monster as material… and the Level is quite high.”
“Don’t be so sure yet, Yusei,” Akiza Izinski said, pointing at the data screen of the Duel Runner.
“The uploader is introducing another card. The next one seems to be… Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon!”
Sure enough, as she spoke, another Synchro ace monster with the Blue-Eyes name appeared!
[Card Name: Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon (Level 9)]
[Attribute: Light]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK/DEF: 2500/3000]
The sheer utility of this Blue-Eyes Synchro monster left many duelists completely stunned on the spot!
Effect 1: While on the field, it prevents both players from Special Summoning two or more monsters at the same time!
Effect 2: Once per turn, it can negate the activation of a card effect in the Graveyard!
Effect 3: During either player’s turn, it can Tribute itself as a Quick Effect to Special Summon 1 Light-Attribute Dragon-Type Synchro Monster from the Extra Deck in Defense Position!
(Though that monster is destroyed during the End Phase.)
Three effects!
Seto Kaiba, with his mastery over the Blue-Eyes, immediately linked this to the previous Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon!
“Could it be?!”
“Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon ‘tags out’ into Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon during the opponent’s turn!”
“With Azure-Eyes’ effect, it ignores the self-destruction clause because it can’t be destroyed by effects!”
“And then, by the time it’s your own turn, it can pull a Normal monster—a Blue-Eyes White Dragon—directly from the Graveyard!”
Kaiba’s realization sent a shock through Yugi Muto, Mai Valentine, and Joey Wheeler!
What a terrifying combo!
*You can actually play like that?*
*It even counters the Graveyard!*
*Is this deck even fair?!*
The other duelists soon caught on as well.
In an instant, the footage from the short video plunged the duelists of all six worlds into a profound, stunned silence.
