## Watching Yu-Gi-Oh!
Shorts, the Old-school Duelists Have a Meltdown!
# Chapter 6: The Blue-Eyes Xyz Galaxy!
The Veterans Break Down Again!
The duelists of the six worlds never imagined that, based on just these two cards, they could already envision such a powerful synergy!
As expected, the video blogger “BrideIsMine” immediately began the detailed explanation of the two-card combo.
BrideIsMine: “Running these two Synchros is usually enough. You lead with Spirit Dragon on turn one, and if things look hairy, you just ‘潤’—I mean, tag out—into Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon.”
BrideIsMine: “Azure-Eyes tagging into Dragon Spirit of White is also a solid choice, since that can banish one of your opponent’s cards.”
BrideIsMine: “Of course, relying solely on Spirit Dragon’s single Graveyard negate for suppression isn’t enough.”
BrideIsMine: “Now, let’s look at the cards we can include for our Xyz plays.”
BrideIsMine: “The Galaxy-Eyes Xyz Trio—Rank 8 Overlay Stacking. No problems there, right?”
Silence.
After the narrator finished those words, the duelists of all six worlds fell into a hush.
*What was the ‘Galaxy-Eyes Trio’?*
*What was ‘Rank 8 Overlay Stacking’?*
*And what on earth were these ‘Xyz’ things?*
The mountain of questions left them momentarily speechless.
As the video continued, the information for the so-called Xyz Monsters appeared!
[Card Name: Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon (Rank 8)]
[Attribute: Light]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK/DEF: 4000/3500]
Leading the charge was the powerhouse capable of detaching materials to destroy cards: Full Armor Photon Dragon!!!
**DM World**
Seto Kaiba almost coughed up a lungful of blood!
It was bad enough that a white Blue-Eyes card appeared, but now there was a mysterious Black Card!
More importantly, this card clearly wasn’t part of the Blue-Eyes archetype!
It was likely a system card from an entirely different archetype!
This left Kaiba even more bewildered!
“Wait, so what is this?”
“Who am I? Where am I?”
“What is that thing?!”
Joey Wheeler felt his entire worldview crumbling.
*What are Xyz Materials?
Looking at the summoning conditions…
it requires three Level 8 monsters?
What is going on?*
…
**GX World**
Chancellor Sheppard and Professor Crowler had already led the students to the library.
Their goal was simple: dig up any information regarding ‘Synchro’ summoning.
Unfortunately, before they could even find the basics of Synchro, the Xyz cards and a whole new set of terminology had appeared.
“Mamma mia!” Crowler collapsed into a chair.
“Another one! What is this now? What is that card supposed to be?” He felt like his years of academic knowledge had just been rendered completely useless.
“The effect is actually pretty good!” Jesse Anderson, standing next to Jaden, quickly deduced something from the synergy of the effects.
“The first effect lets you turn two Equip Cards into materials! And combined with the second effect, you could potentially trigger it multiple times! After all, the second effect requires detaching a material to destroy a card.”
After a moment of thought, Jesse continued, “The summoning condition is three Level 8 monsters… but it says it can also be Xyz Summoned by ‘overlaying’ it on top of a ‘Galaxy-Eyes’ Xyz Monster you control. That means the second method is probably the one most people use!”
Jesse had quickly realized the most efficient way to summon it.
His words left Jaden, Zane, and Alexis in deep thought.
Perhaps…
Xyz was easier to understand than Synchro?
…
Before the duelists could ponder further, the video quickly displayed the second Xyz Monster to be included!
[Card Name: Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon (Rank 8)]
[Attribute: Light]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK/DEF: 3000/2500]
BrideIsMine: “This one only requires two Level 8 monsters to overlay! That makes it a perfect fit for Blue-Eyes White Dragon!”
BrideIsMine: “By detaching one material, you can ‘niu’—I mean, snatch—one of your opponent’s monsters! The downside is that only this card can attack for the rest of the turn.”
BrideIsMine: “Let’s look at the next one.”
[Card Name: Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon (Rank 9)]
[Attribute: Light]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK/DEF: 3200/2800]
*There’s more?!*
*And this one requires three Level 9 monsters to overlay?!*
BrideIsMine: “By now, I think everyone understands the process.”
BrideIsMine: “First, we bring out Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon to snatch an opponent’s monster.”
BrideIsMine: “Then, according to the rules of Xyz, we can overlay Full Armor Photon Dragon on top of Cipher Dragon to destroy a card.”
BrideIsMine: “Next, we can overlay Cipher Blade Dragon on top of Full Armor, detaching a material to destroy another card.”
BrideIsMine: “The play shown on screen is just a basic maneuver. I’m sure you all know how it works, right?”
As the blogger explained step by step, the footage of the Rank 8 “stacking” played out.
The edited footage showed two Blue-Eyes White Dragons on the field being overlaid to Xyz Summon Cipher Dragon.
Then, following the narrator’s instructions, it was overlaid into Full Armor for a destruction effect, and finally into Cipher Blade for a second destruction!
After watching the entire Xyz sequence, the duelists of the DM, GX, and 5D’s worlds were left in a daze!
They had originally thought Xyz would be some profound, incomprehensible high-level technique.
But after seeing it once?
They all got it!
Whether it was Kaiba, Yugi, Joey, or Mai…
or Jaden, Zane, Alexis, or Yubel…
The duelists of the two earliest worlds, after being enlightened by the “Galaxy-Eyes Trio,” finally understood the essence of Xyz Summoning!
*It’s just stacking!*
*If you have two monsters of the same Level that meet the requirements, you can stack them for a Black Card!*
*And if you meet the conditions, you can stack an even stronger Black Card on top of that!*
*Dammit!
So that’s Xyz!*
