Shorts, the Old-school Duelists Have a Meltdown!
# Chapter 8: Ritual Expansion!
Who Dares Set a Monster Against the One-Shot King?
In the ZEXAL World, Yuma Tsukumo finished listening to the uploader’s explanation of the Blue-Eyes combos.
His expression had turned quite serious.
“Is the power of a deck without Number cards really this great?” Yuma turned to his rival.
“Hey, Kite Tenjo? What about those Galaxy-Eyes cards he mentioned?”
Kite Tenjo was already looking dazed.
“Galaxy-Eyes Three-Piece Set? Full Armor Photon Dragon? Cipher Dragon? Cipher Blade Dragon? What is he talking about?”
He shook his head, his face contorting with a mix of confusion and indignation.
“I’ve never heard of those. I only have Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon! That’s my ace! 4500 Attack! But to bring it out, I usually need Trap cards or heavy investment. How is this deck bringing out Galaxy-Eyes bosses easier than my actual Galaxy-Eyes deck?!”
Kite became more agitated as he spoke.
He had barely held it together during the Xyz explanation, but this was the breaking point.
In his world, ace monsters were unique symbols of a duelist’s soul.
Who just puts someone else’s “Big Brother” in their own deck like it’s a spare tool?

In the ARC-V World, Yuya Sakaki and Zuzu Boyle were more focused on the utility of the non-Blue-Eyes cards.
“The core engine is decent,” Gong Strong grunted, offering a critique.
“But the chance of a ‘brick hand’ still looks high. It’s not my style. My Superheavy Samurai are much more reliable.”
Despite being impressed, he wasn’t sold on the Blue-Eyes’ consistency.
“Yeah, that’s fair,” Yuya agreed. This chapter was copied from g.com without permission.
“Relying on those specific monsters is tough. Especially since the heart of the deck is just a vanilla monster with no effects. Honestly, I don’t think it’s as good as my Odd-Eyes.”
To Yuya, “Vanilla” monsters—Normal Monsters—were relics of a bygone era.
How strong could a deck really be if it revolved around a card with no text?

In the VRAINS World, the video was nearing its conclusion.
Yusaku Fujiki (Playmaker) stood with his allies in the digital space.
Even Ryoken Kogami (Varis), leader of the Knights of Hanoi, had temporarily set aside his goals to watch the phenomenon that had taken over their VR world.
“Heh,” Ryoken scoffed.
“Blue-Eyes White Dragon? It’s nothing but a pile of junk compared to my Rokkets and Borrels. Why is the great Playmaker so interested in such an outdated relic?”
“Ryoken, you shouldn’t underestimate any deck,” Yusaku replied with a knowing smile, pointing at the massive VR screen.
“Look at the cards shown at the end of the video.”
Everyone’s eyes shifted.
A new card appeared on the screen, radiating a dark, crushing aura.
[Card Name: Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon (Level 8)]
[Attribute: DARK / Type: Dragon / Ritual]
[ATK/DEF: 4000 / 0]
[BrideIsMine]: “Next is a supplementary section: the Ritual Engine usually included in Blue-Eyes builds.”
[BrideIsMine]: “Let’s talk downsides first. Ritual Summoning is naturally card-intensive. If you commit to the Ritual axis, you have to run cards to search the Ritual Spells and monsters, which cuts into your other plays.”
[BrideIsMine]: “But, if you focus on it, the power ceiling is massive. Chaos MAX Dragon is strong. Incredibly strong. It can also be used as Fusion material for Dragon Master Magia!”
*So that’s how!*
Then, they read the effects of the Ritual Monster.
**Effect 1:** Cannot be targeted or destroyed by your opponent’s card effects.
**Effect 2:** If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict double piercing battle damage to your opponent.
In the DM World, Seto Kaiba was impressed by the first effect, but the second effect left him reeling.
*Double?*
*Doubling piercing damage?!*
“Are you kidding me?! This Blue-Eyes Ritual is a cheat code!” Weevil Underwood shrieked.
“4000 Attack with double piercing? If I set one of my insects, I’ll be deleted in one hit!”
He was panicking.
His deck relied on Setting monsters face-down to trigger Flip effects, and his insects usually had low defense.
If he took a hit from this, he was dead.
“Holy cow! He’s right! This card is insane!” Rex Raptor yelped.
“The ‘One-Shot King’! Who would ever dare to set a monster against that thing?”
A single card had managed to terrify the former regional champion and runner-up of Duelist Kingdom.
Kaiba, however, was becoming increasingly ecstatic.
He felt as though his Blue-Eyes White Dragon was truly becoming invincible.
*The Ritual Engine!
I don’t care about the risk of a brick hand!
I have to have this!*
