Gu Shao suddenly wanted to hear her voice. Unable to resist, he called her, but no one answered for a long time. Feeling slightly disappointed, he switched his phone to silent, set it aside, and returned to work.

…

Su Su did hear the phone ringing, but her little baby had just woken up, so she had to rush over to soothe the little one first.Full novel: What Should I Do After Transmigrating Into the Female Supporting Character’s Mother? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Breastfeeding directly was out of the question. At most, she would pump and feed the baby with a bottle.

When she had first transmigrated and saw Wanwan, she had worried about feeding. But recalling Zaizai’s infancy put her at ease. Back then, Gu Shao had not allowed her to breastfeed, and Zaizai had mostly been raised on formula.

At midnight, he would hold her possessively and whisper in her ear, “Not even our son can have you, you belong only to me.”

Even the original owner, who had once chased a man all the way to his home, had no choice but to back down in front of him.

Children only became fun at Zaizai’s age. Wanwan was still too small, eating and relieving herself in an endless cycle, almost like a straight-through system, making her exhausting to care for. Even with a nanny helping, Su Su could not stand the monotony. She handed the baby to the nanny and went off to entertain herself.

When her mother returned and saw her lounging around playing on her phone, she sighed helplessly. How could she still act like a child when she was already a mother?

“Call Gu Shao and see if he has eaten. If not, bring him lunch.”

“Me?” Su Su shook her head quickly. No way. She had just teased him earlier, how could she face him now?

“Gu Shao works so hard, all for you and the children. You have nothing to do all day, yet you cannot even bring your husband a meal.”

“It’s not like that, Mom.”

“What do you mean it’s not? I know you. You’ve been spoiled since childhood, never suffered a bit. Now I take care of the kids, Gu Shao supports the family, and you just become more and more inconsiderate.”

Su Su fell silent. What could she even say?

The original owner might have been spoiled, but she herself had never lived such a pampered life. Still, now that she occupied this body, she had to bear the responsibility that came with it.

“I understand, Mom. I’ll go.”

Even a small act of obedience from Su Su was enough to make her mother happy. Although Su Su agreed somewhat reluctantly, her mother did not comment on it and instead smiled. “It’s been a long time since I cooked for you. Since you’re bringing him food, I’ll personally make something he likes.”

Her mother had already been taking care of the children for quite a while. Su Su would not let her go cook, so she quickly pushed Zaizai back into her arms. “I’ll do it. Gu Shao will be happier eating something I made.”

“You can cook? Since when?”

Su Su was speechless. Right, she could cook, but the original owner could not.

“Cooking is simple. I’ll just follow online recipes. Don’t worry, I learn quickly. I can pick it up at a glance.”

With that, she rushed into the kitchen before her mother could stop her.

Her mother smiled helplessly, but also felt a sense of relief. Ever since giving birth to Wanwan, Su Su seemed to have grown up overnight, becoming more sensible and finally showing signs of being a proper mother.

In the past, Su Su did whatever she wanted without considering others’ feelings. If not for Gu Shao, her mother would have worried whether anyone could tolerate her at all.

As her mother, she could endure her temper, but looking at her objectively, she knew her daughter’s personality was not likable and would surely lead to hardship in the future.

Fortunately, Su Su had started to change.

Zaizai wanted to go play with Su Su. Not knowing where she was, he anxiously tugged at his grandmother, calling out “Mommy, Mommy.”

Su Su’s mother took his hand. “Don’t worry, Zaizai. Mommy is cooking for you. She’ll be back soon. Let’s go see your little sister.”

Children’s attention shifted quickly. Once brought in front of his sister, he immediately forgot about his mother. Held in his grandmother’s arms, he tilted his head to look at the baby. “Sister, sister,” he said, even pointing at her with his little finger as if afraid his grandmother might not notice.

…

In the kitchen, Su Su cooked while listening to music.

She washed and chopped vegetables with practiced ease. If the original owner’s mother saw this, she would be utterly shocked.

Su Su had learned to cook back in middle school. At first, she only aimed for food that was edible, but later, when she wanted a more refined lifestyle, she began to put real effort into cooking, gradually improving her skills. To be frank, her cooking was even better than Aunt Li’s at home, every dish carefully perfected.

Humming along, she added ingredients to the pan and stir-fried, thinking that if Gu Shao could taste her cooking, he would surely be deeply moved.

Only when she added cilantro did she suddenly realize that not everyone shared her lack of dietary restrictions. Gu Shao might not like it. Although they had lived together for a while, she, like the original owner, had never paid much attention to his preferences…

But she had not had the chance. Gu Shao was always busy, and whenever they were alone, it was almost always in bed. They had plenty of chances to know each other intimately, but none to get to know each other in ordinary ways.

Since the cilantro was already in, she did not bother removing it. Even if Gu Shao did not like it, she was not about to pick it out piece by piece.

She also did not follow her mother’s suggestion to call him first to ask if he was available before deciding whether to bring the food. She had her own reasoning. If she missed him, it would just be an outing. If she did not, then it would be a pleasant surprise for him, would it not?

…

After everything was packed up, Su Su stood hesitantly at the door. “Mom, I’m heading out?”

“Go on already. What’s there to be shy about? He’s your husband, not a stranger.”

…Mom, that’s not the point, okay?

Once outside, she realized that her memories about Gu Shao’s companies were a complete mess. She only knew he owned a string of companies, of which she could name three or four, but she had no idea which one he was currently at.

So she simply searched his name online, skimming through pages of overwhelming news coverage to get a sense of his recent activities and roughly judge where his focus might be.

When she snapped out of it, Su Su clicked her tongue. Impressive really was impressive. Her husband was even more formidable than she had imagined.

It must be all the good deeds from her previous life, like helping old ladies cross the street, that earned her the fortune of becoming a wealthy wife overnight.

Feeling quite satisfied, Su Su put her phone back in her pocket, hailed a taxi, and told the driver to take her to Aurora Tech.

…

Entering the lobby.

She needed to register at the front desk and get a temporary access card. The receptionist maintained a polite attitude throughout, but when Su Su mentioned she was here to see Gu Shao, the receptionist gave her a surprised once-over, scanning her from head to toe and back again, making Su Su feel a little self-conscious. She had not yet adjusted from her past life mindset, and her outfit looked more like that of a college student than a wealthy married woman.

The receptionist’s reaction was not unreasonable. It was rare for a young woman dressed casually rather than in business attire to come looking for their CEO. Her instincts told her this was not a business meeting, especially seeing the lunchbox in Su Su’s hand.

“I’ll make a call to check. May I have your name?” Although she had privately speculated about such women before, most of them ended up being thrown out by the boss. Still, this was not someone she could afford to offend. Internally, she felt a trace of mockery, but her tone remained courteous.

“Ah, never mind, that’s too troublesome. I’ll call him myself.”

As she spoke, she took out her phone and dialed.

The receptionist said nothing further, simply watching. Their boss had just had a baby daughter, and his wife was supposedly at home caring for the children, yet here came another shameless woman.

Su Su had never been to Aurora’s headquarters, and no one there recognized her. Combined with the assumption that a woman who had just given birth could not possibly look like her, no one connected her with the CEO’s wife.

The phone rang for a long time without being answered.

Su Su frowned.

Several well-made-up receptionists exchanged glances and smiled knowingly.

She called again, and this time it connected.

Before she could speak, he complained first, “I called you this morning, and only now you’re getting back to me?”

Su Su remembered that Gu Shao had indeed called earlier. She had been about to pick up Wanwan, who had just woken up, so she missed it. Later, she got distracted with her phone and felt too lazy to call back…

“I’m downstairs. I can’t get up, come pick me up.”

“Hm?”

Downstairs? Gu Shao did not immediately understand. It was not surprising, since the original owner had never gone to his workplace before.

“At your company. I came to see you, I’m in the lobby right now.” Then she added a little awkwardly, “I won’t disturb your work, will I?”

There was a brief silence, then two simple words came through the phone,

“Wait for me.”

Gu Shao set down his pen, stood up, grabbed his coat, and headed out.

She actually came?
