“Have you made up your mind? Are you coming back to the capital with me?” Xing Mingyuan’s voice came through the phone.

Xing Hui glanced at You Miao, who was lying on the bed with a fever again and his tone carried a trace of impatience. “Dad, I’m not a child. Why do you always want me to stay by your side?”

“You’re my only child. How many years have you been away? Now it’s time to come home!” Xing Mingyuan snorted.Full novel: When a Straight Guy Transmigrates into an Alpha, He Can Get Pregnant — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“You’ve gotten used to running wild outside, don’t want to return? Let me tell you, don’t even think about it, you’ll stay by my side from now on. You’re not young anymore; there are things you need to attend, matters of the officialdom you need to learn.”

“I know. I’ve got things to handle here, I’ll hang up now.” Xing Hui ended the call and immediately started urging the doctor. When the doctor arrived, he complained about being slow.

The fifty something alpha physiology expert looked at him helplessly, just about to say something, when Xing Hui interrupted: “Professor, what are you looking at? The person in bed is the patient.”

The expert had no choice but to check on the unresponsive You Miao. Pulling down the blanket, he saw the bite marks on his neck and shoulders and instantly understood what had happened. He then reviewed the medications previously prescribed, found nothing wrong and finally examined his glands.

“How is it?” Xing Hui asked, concern etched on his face.

The expert instructed the assistant to draw two tubes of blood and said, “Let’s wait for the blood test results before deciding the next step. For now, we’ll give him an antipyretic injection.”

Xing Hui’s expression grew serious and he instructed someone to send the blood samples for testing.

Half an hour later, the results came back: a bacterial infection. After IV treatment, the doctor prescribed additional oral anti inflammatory medication and instructed that the previous anti inflammatory drugs were no longer necessary, though topical ointments should continue.

“Does he need to be hospitalized?” Xing Hui frowned. “He’s had a fever since yesterday. He came home and slept through the night yet the fever is still high.”

“No hospitalization needed. The high fever is caused by a bacterial infection. With the targeted medication, it should subside quickly. He can stay home for two days,” the expert hesitated, “His body is very weak. He should refrain from sexual activity during this period. Even as an alpha, he cannot push himself so hard. After recovery, he still shouldn’t overexert.”

Xing Hui listened with a stiff expression, then arranged for the expert to leave.

His apartment in Haishi was a two bedroom, one living room, one bathroom, one kitchen unit. On the ninth floor, both units were his. It was in the university district, directly across from the military academy where he studied. On either side, the dorms and apartments were all Lou family property, so living anywhere was the same.

He had a strong sense of territoriality. Even close friends like Shen Heng, relatives and even his own father were not allowed to stay in his place overnight.

But he had brought You Miao home and was taking care of him, which surprised Shen Heng and even the housekeeper. They realized that this alpha was someone the young master truly cared about, so they attended to him meticulously.

At dinner, after checking You Miao’s temperature and seeing the fever had subsided, Xing Hui exhaled in relief. He carried the porridge that Aunt Wang had prepared into the bedroom.

“Master, if he’s awake, give him some water first. He needs to stay hydrated while recovering from the fever,” Aunt Wang reminded him.

“I already fed him.” Xing Hui considered himself impeccable, he had fed him directly, mouth to mouth. Though he’d been bitten, it was unavoidable; You Miao hadn’t eaten or drunk anything for two days. Already sick, his body couldn’t handle it.

You Miao had already woken up, feeling as though his entire body had been run over by a car. Every part of him ached, especially the one spot, definitely swollen. His throat hurt. The physical pain could be endured but the psychological burden was unbearable. The thought of what had happened with another man had crushed him.

Three days entangled with a man in bed, he couldn’t believe it. If he hadn’t been drugged, he would never have imagined he would sleep with a man.

So when Xing Hui appeared in his line of sight, his disgust peaked and even murderous intent flashed in his eyes.

“You haven’t eaten for two days. Have some porridge.” Xing Hui placed the bowl on the bedside table, cupping the bowl to check the temperature. “It’s a bit hot. Let it cool.” Then he asked, “Do you need to use the bathroom?”

You Miao’s face was ghostly pale, his energy completely drained. Leaning against the headboard, he barely lifted his eyes, regarding Xing Hui as if he were the most despicable villain imaginable.

Xing Hui sat on the bed. “Do you need to go? I can get the bedpan for you.”

You Miao didn’t want to engage or even look at him. He turned his head away and closed his eyes.

Xing Hui frowned. Two days, not a word to him, refusing to meet his eyes, refusing to eat or drink. He let out his displeasure. “Who is this act of yours for? Let me tell you, the one suffering from this is yourself!”

You Miao’s eyelashes trembled slightly. He stayed silent, eyes still closed.

Xing Hui’s brows knit tighter, his anger swelling as he looked at the pale face before him. He wanted to lash out but restrained himself, taking a deep breath. Then, with patience, he said, “If you won’t go, at least drink some porridge.” He scooped some with a spoon and brought it to You Miao’s lips. “The temperature is just right. Open your mouth.”

The spoon touched You Miao’s lips but he turned his head more forcefully, not drinking, pressing his lips shut.

Xing Hui’s expression darkened. He clenched his teeth. “Do you want me to feed you with my mouth?”

You Miao’s eyes snapped open, glaring at him with hatred. His lips trembled slightly. After a long pause, he said, “I won’t.”

Hearing this, Xing Hui’s face darkened further. “So you want me to feed you with my mouth?”

“…” You Miao immediately recoiled, emphasizing, “I won’t!”

Xing Hui ignored him. He drank a large mouthful from the bowl himself, then, with brute strength, lifted You Miao, cupped his face, pressed his lips to his and forced his mouth open to pour the porridge in. He followed with a second spoonful.

You Miao’s entire body trembled uncontrollably. Despite his weakness, he forced his head to the side, resisting Xing Hui’s contact. In the struggle, he knocked over the bowl, spilling porridge all over the bed.

The room was a mess. Xing Hui didn’t care. The resistance only stoked his anger. His face cold, though somewhat restrained, he fixed his gaze on You Miao. His voice almost shouting, “You weren’t like this that night! Stop pretending now!”

You Miao’s emotions surged, rage, disgust and utter helplessness, compounded by Xing Hui’s touch. Overwhelmed, perhaps from the emotional intensity or from going two days without food, he gasped twice and then leaned over the bed, vomiting the porridge he had just been fed, right onto Xing Hui’s feet.

“…”

Xing Hui’s temper nearly broke. He inhaled sharply, grabbing a trash can.

You Miao had thrown up all the porridge and even the water he had drunk earlier. He looked miserable.

Xing Hui panicked for a moment, holding the trash can in one hand, patting You Miao’s back with the other.

To You Miao, this so called care was revolting. Suddenly, he exploded. “Don’t touch me!” He shouted with all his strength, then vomited again by the bed, curling up and sobbing.

Xing Hui froze at his outburst, then lost control entirely. He threw down the trash can, yanked You Miao up and glared at him. “Don’t want me to touch you? You sure weren’t saying that when you climbed onto my bed and wanted me that night! You weren’t saying that during your heat! And now you don’t want me to touch you? Let me tell you, you’re too late!”

Just then, Aunt Wang, who had been about to leave after work, heard the commotion. She rushed into the bedroom and saw the two as if they were fighting. She quickly stepped in to mediate. “Master, he’s sick. Just had a fever. You can’t do this!” She glanced at the messy floor and bed. “Oh my, what happened here? Young couples shouldn’t fight. Talk it out and make sure to eat properly too.”

You Miao cried, a type of despair he had never known before. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t make sense of it. He hadn’t done anything wrong.

He had spent his time doing good deeds within his capacity, working diligently to study medicine, earning admission to his ideal graduate school, edging ever closer to his dream of becoming a doctor who could save lives and yet, why had fate brought him to this strange place, to encounter such a terrifying man, a homosexual alpha? The thought alone left him numb, hopeless.

Aunt Wang’s words didn’t soften Xing Hui’s heart but seeing You Miao’s tear streaked face, he couldn’t help but relent. He drew him into his arms, wiping away the tears, cleaning the smudges at the corners of his mouth, letting out a long sigh that drained his temper. His chest felt twisted into a knot; he had never met anyone who took him so completely for granted.

And yet, it had been him who had provoked You Miao first. Xing Hui felt a surge of frustration, almost spitting blood from indignation, as he continued wiping the corners of You Miao’s mouth with a wet wipe, then his tears with his hand. “Aunt Wang, I’m taking him to the hospital for a couple of days.”

“Go ahead, let the doctor check him and give him some nutritional IVs,” Aunt Wang said, sighing with concern, her eyes soft with pity for You Miao. The child seemed to evoke a natural protectiveness in her.

Xing Hui carefully lifted You Miao, supporting him under the arms, holding him steady. Seeing the pale face flush again as he rested against Xing Hui’s forehead, he realized the fever had returned. A wave of irritation surged through him. He barked at the driver: “Drive faster!”

You Miao stayed in the hospital for seven days, finally beginning to improve. His energy returned gradually. It wasn’t until the third day of hospitalization that he agreed to eat, not because of Xing Hui but because he encountered an intern doctor, an Omega named Du Huailin, who had just secured his place in graduate school. He studied the same field as You Miao: immunology.

So when Du Huailin encouraged him to eat, You Miao spoke voluntarily for the first time.

“Is there an immunology department here?” he asked.

Du Huailin responded gently, “This is Haishi. The economy and medical field are highly developed. Of course, there’s an immunology department.”

At the mention of his field, You Miao’s expression brightened slightly. “The immunology department here studies clinical diseases related to the human immune system, right?”

Du Huailin’s curiosity was piqued. “You’ve studied it before?”

You Miao hesitated for a moment, then replied simply, “I’m interested in it.”

“That’s wonderful. My focus is immunology. If you’re interested, we can discuss it together.” Du Huailin’s tone was patient and encouraging. “Right now, you need to focus on getting healthy. Eat properly. If you don’t, your immune system will be affected, you know that, don’t you?”

You Miao licked his dry lips and remained silent.

Du Huailin continued, “Health is everything. Living off IV nutrition alone in a hospital bed is miserable for you. Eat properly, get well quickly and you’ll have the energy to do what you want and to discuss immunology with me.”

As a medical student, You Miao knew full well the importance of health but arriving here had plunged him into despair, giving rise to extreme thoughts that had led him to refuse food entirely.

Du Huailin offered again: “I have a lot of books on immunology. Would you like to read them? If you do, I can bring some tomorrow.” He hesitated, then added, “But looking at your current weak state, struggling even to speak and unwilling to open your eyes, if you want to read, shouldn’t you eat something first?”

A small glimmer of relief rose in You Miao’s heart. After a long pause, he whispered, “Thank you.”

That evening, he ate for the first time.

Xing Hui watched in astonishment as You Miao took tiny sips of porridge, not daring to breathe too heavily. Once he had swallowed half a bowl, Xing Hui spoke softly: “You haven’t eaten in days. Don’t drink too much at once. Take it slow.”

He tried to make his voice gentle but You Miao ignored him entirely, finishing the entire bowl on his own.

As expected, he experienced stomach pain in the middle of the night, which almost drove Xing Hui to fury but seeing his pale, fragile face, he forcibly restrained himself.

Du Huailin, on night duty, was the first to arrive at the ward. He encouraged You Miao gently: “You haven’t eaten in days. Eating a bit too much for the first time will cause stomach pain. Take some medicine; it’ll be fine. Eat less next time, then gradually increase the amount. Don’t rush.”

You Miao looked at him and offered a faint smile. “Thank you, Doctor Du. I understand.”

Xing Hui’s gaze remained fixed on You Miao. It was the first time in days that he had seen him smile but the smile was directed at someone else and that someone was an Omega. Xing Hui’s eyes shifted slowly toward Du Huailin, a cold edge beginning to appear.
