Zhou You’s retching startled Han Xiaosong, who asked anxiously, “Brother Zhou, what’s wrong?”

Zhou You waved his hand, stood up and hurried to the restroom.

His stomach churned violently. Turning on the faucet, Zhou You vomited, expelling the little bit of porridge he’d just eaten. Mixed with the rose scent lingering in his mouth, it made him frown.Full novel: When a Straight Guy Transmigrates into an Alpha, He Can Get Pregnant — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It had to be because that beast Xing Hui had gone at it for too long last night.

Han Xiaosong stood at the restroom door, even more worried. “Brother Zhou, should we see a doctor?”

Zhou You rinsed his mouth. “I am a doctor.” He pulled out a tissue, wiping as he walked out. “It’s nothing. I caught a chill last night.”

“Then should you prescribe yourself some medicine?” Han Xiaosong asked, his face scrunched with concern.

“All right.” Zhou You tossed the tissue into the trash can. “Once it’s out, it’s fine. Hurry up and eat.”

He walked over to the window and opened it to let some air circulate, only then noticing that it was raining outside.

“The weather forecast said there’d be heavy rain today,” Han Xiaosong said cheerfully as he ate and drank with gusto. “Time really flies. It’s summer already.”

It was May indeed. It was already summer.

If he counted carefully, this summer marked the sixth year since Zhou You had transmigrated into this world.

Six whole years, almost all of them tangled up with Xing Hui, never truly disentangled.

Zhou You’s expression darkened slightly, a trace of confusion surfacing deep in his eyes.

“Brother Zhou, my internship is about to end,” Han Xiaosong said, looking worried. “After it ends, I’ll have to go back to school to graduate. I don’t know if I’ll still be able to come back here to work.”

Zhou You adjusted his emotions and returned to his seat. “What’s so good about here?”

“This is the best top-tier hospital in the entire Alliance,” Han Xiaosong said earnestly. “It’s the Alliance Clinical Medical Research Institute, one of the Alliance Ministry of Health’s designated centers for diagnosing and treating difficult and critical illnesses. If I could officially become part of this place, my life would be worth it.”

Zhou You was just about to say something when Xing Hui’s call came through.

Several missed calls from Xing Hui were already displayed on the screen, along with messages. Zhou You had intended to continue ignoring them but another message popped up.

Xing Hui: Pick up the phone or I’ll come find you immediately.

Zhou You’s gaze darkened. In the end, he pressed the answer button.

The moment the call connected, Xing Hui began complaining. “I already got you leave approved, why did you run back to the hospital again?”

“Who told you to get me leave?” Zhou You frowned. “Can you stop interfering with my work? I’ve never meddled in your job. Why are you always interfering in mine?”

“Then interfere with mine,” Xing Hui said. “I’d love it but you don’t. You never do.”

Zhou You gripped the phone, unmoving. He didn’t speak, his expression blank, until Xing Hui added, “Wife, your possessiveness toward me is way too weak. You need to manage me more in the future, got it?”

Zhou You let out a breath and replied flatly, “Did you make me answer the phone for something important? If not, I’m hanging up.”

“You’re busy over there?” Xing Hui said. “It’s mealtime. You haven’t eaten?”

“I’m eating,” Zhou You paused briefly. “You kicked my colleague and injured him. He’s hospitalized. Remember to compensate him.” With that, he hung up.

Han Xiaosong, who had been eating quietly, hurriedly said, “Brother Zhou, it’s really just a minor injury. There’s no need. I’ll be discharged tomorrow.”

“He’s got plenty of money,” Zhou You said. “You’d be stupid not to take it.”

“But, ”

“Shut up and eat.”

Han Xiaosong felt that the usually gentle Zhou You was a little frightening right now. He sneaked a couple of glances at him and accidentally caught sight of the faint marks at Zhou You’s collar. Instantly, he understood why the person on the phone had taken leave for Zhou You.

Was their relationship bad? Han Xiaosong couldn’t help but speculate.

If it were bad… they wouldn’t be doing that kind of thing, right? he thought again.

Zhou You spoke lightly. “Why do you keep staring at me? Eat.”

Han Xiaosong cleared his throat. “Brother, you… here.” He pointed toward Zhou You’s collar.

Zhou You immediately felt heat rush to his face and covered his collar instinctively.

“Brother, we’re all adults and you’re married. It’s normal,” Han Xiaosong said awkwardly, laughing foolishly to ease the situation. “Your… um…”

He hesitated, unable to tell whether Zhou You was the top or the bottom and finally said, “Your partner really cares about you. You two must have a great relationship, right?”

The moment those words fell, Zhou You’s expression turned extremely unpleasant. He closed his eyes briefly, then opened them again, his voice turning cold. “My stomach feels unwell. You eat.”

Han Xiaosong stared blankly as Zhou You left the ward in quick strides.

At ten o’clock that night, Zhou You finished his rounds and returned to the break room. His stomach still felt uncomfortable. Earlier, when he passed by the ward restroom, the smell had made him gag uncontrollably.

He pulled open the drawer and rummaged around. He remembered there was Wu Shi Tea here.

After brewing a packet, Zhou You sat on the chair, lost in thought.

When the knock on the door sounded, Zhou You had just finished drinking the tea. He stood up to open the door. The moment he saw Xing Hui, his mood immediately soured.

“You went to see that kid. You even ate together,” Xing Hui said as he walked in and took off his gloves. “Other than being younger, what does he have that’s better than me?” He added, “Did you forget what I said?”

Zhou You frowned, his expression cold and disgusted. “He’s just a junior colleague.”

“Good.” Xing Hui lightly pinched Zhou You’s cheek. “You’re unhappy that I came?”

Once things at the military department wrapped up, Xing Hui had come straight over through the heavy rain, not even having time to change out of his uniform.

He lifted Zhou You’s chin and leaned in to kiss him, his tongue stirring inside Zhou You’s mouth. When he pulled away, he asked with concern, “Why does it smell like medicine? Not feeling well?”

Zhou You’s tone was as indifferent as ever. “I overate. Drank some Wu Shi Tea.”

“Is that so?” Xing Hui slid his hand into Zhou You’s clothes.

“This is my workplace,” Zhou You pressed down on his hand, warning in his gaze.

Xing Hui smiled back. “What are you thinking? I’m just rubbing your stomach.” He pecked Zhou You’s lips.

Zhou You kept a stiff face and turned away. “No need.”

He tried to dodge but Xing Hui wrapped an arm around him.

“Don’t move. Let me rub it,” Xing Hui said, sitting down on the bed and forcefully pulling Zhou You onto his lap. His warm palm kneaded Zhou You’s abdomen.

Zhou You struggled again. Xing Hui spoke calmly, unhurried. “If you keep moving, I really can’t guarantee I won’t fuck you right here.”

Zhou You’s body stiffened and he stopped moving.

Xing Hui curled his lips and leaned in to kiss him again. Zhou You turned his face away but Xing Hui cupped the back of his head and forcibly turned him back, planting a solid kiss on his lips.

After the kiss, Zhou You pushed him away and stood up, displeased. “Pay attention. This is my workplace.”

“We’re legally married,” Xing Hui said with a smile. He stood up and pulled Zhou You back into his arms, his hand sliding to Zhou You’s narrow waist, pinching the soft flesh there.

Zhou You was slim but not frail. There wasn’t much flesh at his waist, firm and taut, feeling excellent in hand. Every time they did it, the curve his waist formed with each movement was beautiful. Just thinking about it made Xing Hui’s mouth dry.

Still, last night had gone a bit too far. He couldn’t ask for more today or Zhou You’s body wouldn’t be able to handle it. Besides, even if Zhou You was worked half to death the night before, he’d still go to work the next day. That displeased Xing Hui, so he said, “You won’t even rest at home for two days and insist on coming to work. I seriously suspect you just like going against me.”

Zhou You frowned. He wanted to say something but after thinking about it, he gave up and said nothing at all.

Seeing him stay silent, Xing Hui asked, “Why do you look so tired? Did you really drink Wu Shi Tea? Are you actually unwell? Tell me the truth.”

Zhou You didn’t want to deal with him. He picked up the trash can by the desk and shoved it into Xing Hui’s arms.

Xing Hui saw the empty Wu Shi Tea packet inside the clean trash can. He set it down and smiled. “I’m worried about you.”

He pulled Zhou You back to sit on the bed, hugged him and rested his head against Zhou You’s neck. “I was a bit rough last night. I got you leave so you could rest for a couple of days. Don’t be mad, okay?” As he spoke, his fingers gently rubbed Zhou You’s gland.

At work, Zhou You usually wore a suppressant bracelet. Suppressant bracelets varied in price and function. His was custom-made for him by Xing Hui, expensive, lightweight and most importantly, not only did it suppress pheromones, it could also function as a watch, locator, pedometer, blood pressure and pulse monitor and even a communication device. It was a multifunctional medical-grade bracelet.

His gland had been bitten yesterday. Today, he’d applied a barrier patch before going out. Even so, being touched through the patch by Xing Hui still caused a faint tingling numbness.

Zhou You had no choice but to remind him, “This is my workplace. Can you stop doing this anytime, anywhere…” He didn’t finish the sentence, momentarily wondering if there was really nothing else in Xing Hui’s head.

“I’m not doing anything,” Xing Hui said. His hand moved down to Zhou You’s waist, holding him as he spoke in a sticky, soft voice. “Let me hold you for a while.”

Zhou You’s body remained stiff as he let himself be held, neither moving nor speaking.

Outside, rain poured down heavily.

The bed in the break room was a single bed. Two grown men sleeping on it was extremely cramped. Xing Hui slept on the outside, holding Zhou You tightly, even telling him that if he felt uncomfortable, he could sleep on top of him.

Whether out of spite or something else, Zhou You replied flatly, “Sleeping on you is even more uncomfortable. It’s disgusting.”

Xing Hui laughed, kissed his hair and wrapped his legs around him even tighter.

Unable to break free, Zhou You closed his eyes and curled up, burying his head in the crook of Xing Hui’s arm. His hands, however, pressed against Xing Hui’s chest as he leaned closer, his resistance obvious.

Xing Hui grabbed his hands and forcibly tucked him into his arms, holding him tighter.

Neither of them slept well that night. The bed was far too narrow for two men over six feet tall. In the latter half of the night, Xing Hui lay flat on his back, while Zhou You truly slept on top of him, draped over him, his head tilted against Xing Hui’s chest, sleeping soundly.

Xing Hui had urgent matters at the military department and got up at four in the morning. He moved very lightly. Before leaving, he bent down and placed a kiss on Zhou You’s forehead.

The moment the door closed, Zhou You opened his eyes. He rolled over, faced inward and curled himself up under the blanket.

At six in the morning, he got up. Today was an outpatient day.

Every week, five workdays. As an attending physician, Zhou You spent two days in outpatient clinic, two days in the wards and one day on night duty.

Although Xing Hui watched Zhou You closely, he had never restricted him in terms of work. Back then, he’d wanted to arrange a good job for Zhou You but hadn’t expected Zhou You to take the physician’s licensing exam and successfully enter the hospital.

What Xing Hui didn’t know was that before transmigrating, Zhou You had studied at a medical university. Aside from classes, he’d spent almost all his time in the lab. He’d later been recommended for graduate school, unfortunately, he transmigrated.

After the morning outpatient session ended, Xing Hui called again, saying he’d ordered food, complaining that Zhou You had lost weight recently, then complaining that the break room bed was too damn small, not fit for human sleep. He rambled on endlessly.

Zhou You didn’t wait for him to finish. He hung up directly, then turned off his phone.

He went to the cafeteria with Brother Chen and several colleagues. Everyone was full of curiosity about Zhou You’s marriage yet they all knew there was nothing they could really ask.

On the one hand, Zhou You never spoke about his marriage at all. On the other, the Xing family’s status and position were not something ordinary people like them could casually discuss.

The conversation soon shifted to the beds used by on-duty doctors in the inpatient department.

“I’ve been at this hospital for ten years,” one of them said. “When I first came, I was already sleeping on that bed. One night on it and my lower back would ache like hell. I complained so many times but nobody paid any attention. Then early this morning, they said someone from above made a phone call directly to the president. By noon, the president issued a notice, changing the beds. Bigger ones, better ones, so that all doctors on night duty can finally get a good night’s sleep.”

“Seriously?”

“Didn’t you see the group chat? It’s absolutely real.”

“Damn, who is it? That kind of influence, one sentence and the president changes the beds.”

“Exactly. Must be a big shot, no doubt about it.”

Everyone chatted animatedly. Zhou You stayed quiet the entire time. His mind drifted back to the night before, when Xing Hui had asked him whether the bed was comfortable and to the phone call earlier, when Xing Hui complained that the bed was uncomfortable and should be replaced.

He had already guessed whose doing this was.

When it was time to get off work, Xing Hui called again, saying he wouldn’t be coming back that night.

For Zhou You, that piece of news was even better than changing the beds. Compared to being worn out by Xing Hui every night until his legs went weak, he preferred sleeping alone in peace until morning.

Not hearing a response from Zhou You, Xing Hui asked, “Why aren’t you saying anything? Sneakily happy, aren’t you?”

Zhou You’s expression didn’t change. “I’m happy. No need to be sneaky about it.”

Xing Hui gave a soft snort. “I’ll deal with you when I get back.”

The only reply he got was the sound of the call being cut off.

There was something Zhou You had been thinking over recently. After work, he drove straight back to the Xing family’s old residence.
