Lu Jiu’s one sentence made Shen Ke so excited he started driving in S-shaped curves. After finally calming down, the guy happily pulled out his Bluetooth headset and made a call.

“Hey, Brother Ye! I’ve got Brother Jiu with me, make sure to arrange him a room later, yeah?”

It had probably been a long time since anyone used the nickname Brother Jiu. The person on the other end went quiet for a few seconds before chuckling slowly.Full novel: Woke Up Pregnant in Every World [Quick Transmigration] — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“So that kid finally turned over a new leaf? All right. Let him come.”

That voice belonged to Ye Lin’s older brother, Ye Qin.

After hanging up, Shen Ke said cheerfully, “Brother Jiu, Bai Yun will be there too! He’s officially back in the country now. You still remember him, right?”

“Got anything to eat in the car?” Lu Jiu asked abruptly.

“Ah? Just a few candies, my sister left them here. Want some?”

“Any fruit flavor?”

“Yeah!”

Shen Ke freed one hand and passed him a candy. Lu Jiu peeled off the wrapper and popped it into his mouth. The lemon flavor spread instantly, pressing down the nausea that had been creeping up.

He started reflecting on his life, Maybe I shouldn’t have tagged along for fun. Shouldn’t I be at a hospital right now?

Then again, if it was just gastritis or something, maybe it’d pass in a day or two.

Lu Jiu sighed, folded his hands over his stomach, and shut his eyes to rest.

Shen Ke glanced over, voice full of concern, “Brother Jiu, are you feeling unwell?”

“I’m fine. Probably just a bit carsick.” Lu Jiu cracked an eye open. “And don’t you dare drive in S-shapes again, or I will puke.”

“Got it! I’ll drive straight, promise!”

Lu Jiu asked again, “Who were you talking about earlier?”

“Oh, Bai Yun, Brother Bai Yun. You really don’t remember him?”

“Nope.”

His mind was still a jumble; other than a few close faces, everyone else’s names and faces were just static in his head.

“Brother Bai Yun, man… I can’t believe you forgot! Though, yeah, you two weren’t exactly close back then…” Shen Ke chattered happily, launching into gossip.

From his rambling, Lu Jiu pieced together some new information.

Bai Yun, twenty-nine, didn’t fit in with the typical spoiled heirs, they didn’t have the ability to outshine their own parents’ empire, but he did.

Bai Yun and Ye Qin were of the same caliber, both came from elite families and were idolized by everyone in their generation.

Among rich families, there were levels. People like Lu Jiu and Shen Ke only counted as minor gentry, their family wealth dating back just two generations.

The Ye family was a bit more established but the Bai family was a true high society, the peak of the pyramid.

Bai Yun, as the Bai family’s heir, was not only good-looking but also brilliant (at least, according to Shen Ke).

Naturally, everyone adored him.

Guys looked up to him, girls fell for him but he’d gone abroad at fifteen, stayed there after graduating, and had only recently moved his business back home.

“By the way, remember the Ye family’s little sister’s party last month? I heard Bai Yun had already flown back for that, he even stopped by the Ye house! But I didn’t see him. Did you?”

Shen Ke finished excitedly, then suddenly froze.

That party, Ye Qin and Ye Lin’s little sister’s party. Wasn’t that the one where Brother Jiu had gotten pestered by that kidney-deficient creep?

Yeah, not exactly his fondest memory.

Shen Ke cast a nervous glance at him.

But Lu Jiu didn’t react.

He was still resting his eyes, though his thoughts had already drifted back to that night. He couldn’t recall much about this “Bai Yun,” only that the name rang a faint bell.

What he was curious about, however, was the man he’d slept with that night.

When he stumbled into that third-floor room, the man inside had been in the shower. Lu Jiu, dizzy from sensory overload, collapsed straight onto the bed. A while later, he heard the glass door slide open and footsteps approach.

The mattress sank behind him, a wave of heat brushed against his back. Someone braced themselves over him, leaned down and Lu Jiu, in a fit of desperate surrender, rolled over, looped his arms around the man’s neck, and pulled him down.

Now that he thought about it, that “skillful mister” had been planning to sleep over at the Ye residence that night.

Frowning slightly, Lu Jiu turned to ask, “Hey, were there any Ye family relatives staying over that night?”

“Uh? Don’t think so. Haven’t heard of any.”

“Then anyone else stay there?”

Shen Ke looked confused.

“Loads of people! I heard some of them got drunk and passed out all over the living room. But I left early. I did go upstairs looking for you though, Brother Jiu…”

Lu Jiu’s mind worked slowly.

No, the “skillful mister” definitely wasn’t one of those drunk rich kids downstairs. He was older, probably Ye Qin’s age.

He asked again, “Did Brother Ye have any friends over that night?”

Shen Ke blinked, puzzled, then his eyes widened, “…Brother Bai Yun!”

Lu Jiu: “?”

“I told you, Bai Yun was there! You didn’t see him? Wonder if he’s still as handsome as before…”

Shen Ke slipped into fanboy mode again.

Lu Jiu frowned, digging through his foggy mind for any trace of Bai Yun but his head only throbbed harder.

Inside his mind, 111 (the system) snickered, “Hehe, you say you don’t care, but you’re curious about your future husband, aren’t you?”

Lu Jiu smirked, “Curious, sure. But I don’t buy that ‘future husband’ crap.”

He didn’t believe that just because the Quick-Transmigration Bureau claimed some random man was his fated partner, that made it true.

Even if he could do “pure love,” he wasn’t the type to commit after one good night. If the system said the guy was “one of his future husbands,” he might believe that a bit more.

“Host! Have some morals!” 111 shrieked.

Lu Jiu laughed out loud, “If I had morals, would I have slept with one man and then another the next night?”

After all, the night before the car accident, he’d just slept with his old university senior.

They’d met by chance at a bar after work, and one drink led to another… The guy hadn’t changed a bit, still that same calm confidence, that smile that hooked you in.

“Come on,” Lu Jiu said lazily. “If your Bureau’s so powerful, you knew I’d just slept with someone before the accident. You still sent me to seduce some mystery man in room three. Don’t tell me I’m the shameless one here.”

111 sputtered, “We were correcting your life trajectory!! You’ll regret missing your fated one!!”

“Oh yeah?” Lu Jiu raised an eyebrow. “Then tell me, who is he? Don’t need the background, just the face. Did you even see him?”

“I….I turned off my sensors later! You two started… you know! How could I watch that?!”

If 111 could manifest, it’d be covering its bright yellow face right now.

“So you don’t even know his name or face, yet you’re sure I’d regret missing him?”

111 huffed, “I didn’t see him, but you did! Wasn’t he hot? Sexy? Satisfying?”

It had read his emotional data, the host had definitely been pleased that night.

“Yes, yes. Hot, sexy, very satisfying.” Lu Jiu chuckled.

But honestly? He’d been too dizzy that night to see anything clearly. That face had looked so much like his old university senior’s… sometimes he wondered if it had all just been a hallucination.

From the city to Ye family’s vineyard took over two hours.

Following the signs and staff directions, Shen Ke parked near the guest quarters. Most of the others were already there; the courtyard was lined with luxury cars, and a few well-dressed young men and women gathered at the door chatting.

No one paid much attention when Shen Ke’s car pulled in. He was basically invisible in their circle now.

When Lu Jiu used to be the center of it all, they’d at least spare Shen Ke a polite glance but now, not even that.

But when the passenger door opened and Lu Jiu stepped out.

A boy’s eyes widened, signaling the others. Everyone turned to look and collective surprise spread across their faces.

Lu Jiu actually came?

Wasn’t he supposed to refuse?

“Great. This gathering’s gonna blow up again,” someone muttered.

“Eh, we’ll just sit back and enjoy the show.” another laughed.

They exchanged looks and snickered quietly among themselves. Shen Ke noticed, bristling, and started striding toward them like he was about to pick a fight.

“Shen Ke.”

The voice came lazily from behind.

Shen Ke froze.

Lu Jiu had both hands stuffed in his hoodie pockets. The setting sun painted his white sweatshirt a soft gold, warming his pale complexion

.

But Shen Ke knew, throughout the whole ride, Lu Jiu hadn’t felt well.

“Brother Jiu, I think there’s a doctor on-site,” he said anxiously. “Wanna go get checked first?”

“No need. Let’s put our stuff down first.” Lu Jiu walked up the steps.

He still couldn’t tell whether it was carsickness or gastritis. Either way, he wasn’t feeling great.

But unless things got truly bad, he had no plans to see a doctor just yet.

He simply hated going to the doctor.

When he brushed past that group of young men and women, his eyes didn’t even flicker.

Shen Ke glanced at him, then at the others, said nothing, and just trotted after Lu Jiu, still chattering non-stop with concern.

The group’s laughter faded. They looked back curiously at the two figures walking away.

…Lu Jiu somehow gave off a completely different vibe.

Later, Ye Qin called to say that among the boys’ rooms, only Lu Quning’s had one empty bed left. There were other rooms in a separate building, but cleaning them up would take time. Lu Jiu didn’t want to trouble him and said he’d just bunk with Lu Quning.

When he entered the room, Lu Quning was already there, silently watching as Lu Jiu unpacked, his eyes quietly taking in every movement. Then, before heading out, he said, “Brother, I’ll say it again, don’t get too close to that guy.”

Lu Jiu looked back at him with a teasing smile, didn’t answer, and went on his way.

Lu Quning’s fingers clenched tightly, as if something sharp had jabbed into his chest.

There were nearly twenty young people on this winery trip.

Ye Qin was nowhere to be seen yet, nor the rumored “Kidney-Weak Guy” or Bai Yun. The butler said they’d first take a sightseeing cart tour around the estate, and everyone happily piled in.

Lu Quning sat at the front; Lu Jiu and Shen Ke sat at the back.

Lu Jiu yawned, half-dozing, until he felt a gaze fall on him from up front. He opened his eyes and looked, his eyes met those of the boy sitting beside Lu Quning.

Ye Lin.

Once upon a time, his best friend.

The boy was tall, long-limbed, wearing a black T-shirt and jeans, strikingly handsome, like an idol on stage.

They only made eye contact for a second before Ye Lin looked away. His face stayed expressionless the whole time.

“Technically,” 111 mused in Lu Jiu’s mind, “to correct your life trajectory, we should help you reclaim everything you lost. If you hadn’t been influenced by Lu Quning, you wouldn’t have gone insane because of that corrupted data, and Ye Lin wouldn’t have left you. But it’s strange, the Central System never issued any tasks related to Ye Lin…”

Lu Jiu chuckled softly, “If it was so easy to lose, what’s the point of taking it back?”

His voice was calm, his tone careless, yet there was a trace of irony that made 111 stutter.

“T-that’s not really how it works…”

Lu Jiu propped his arm on the handrail, lazily watching the scenery roll by.

Beside him, both Shen Ke and 111 were babbling nonstop, a double layer of chatter that somehow felt almost soothing.

The winery was huge; the cart stopped and started as people hopped off to take pictures.

When they finally reached a wide stretch of lawn, they spotted a few figures in the distance.

It was Ye Qin, the eldest of the Ye family.

They were playing golf.

Just then, Ye Qin swung his club, the ball arcing gracefully away. The older men beside him, all mature, attractive types, walked over.

“Ah! It’s Brother Bai Yun!”

“Brother Yun actually came?!”

Everyone got excited and jumped off the cart.

Shen Ke was starry-eyed like a little fan meeting a celebrity, his gaze fixed on one figure among them.

Lu Jiu squinted against the sunlight to get a clearer look. A man walked beside Ye Qin, tall, striking, exuding elegance.

Lu Jiu couldn’t even see his face clearly yet, but from his bearing alone, he could tell this was an attractive man.

Ye Qin was tall, about 186 cm and yet the man beside him was even taller, close to 190.

He wore a white shirt and suit pants. Simple business attire, yet it outlined his broad shoulders and narrow waist perfectly.

The top button of his shirt was undone, the sleeves rolled to the elbows, revealing strong, well-shaped forearms.

He smiled warmly, and when the group’s excited cheers reached him, he turned his gaze toward them…

Lu Jiu froze.

…Huh?

………Wait, WHAT???

That face!

Wasn’t that the same senior he hadn’t seen in years… and had accidentally slept with the moment they reunited?!

Wait! Wait! Wait! WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

Ye Qin and Bai Yun walked past the stunned Lu Jiu to grab some water. The crowd immediately swarmed them, shouting “Hi Brother Ye!” “Hi Brother Yun!” with sugary voices but all eyes were glued to Bai Yun.

Lu Jiu turned, staring at the tall, elegant man among the crowd, still in shock.

“111,” he whispered, voice trembling, “what’s going on? Are you telling me my future husband is… my senior?!”

111 sounded just as confused: “I have no idea! The system only pointed out the direction of your future partner that day, no detailed data. Actually, during that one month when you were unconscious, your memory was fragmented. I couldn’t access that corrupted data. You barely had any lucid time, your consciousness was mostly back at HQ. So… the man you slept with that night, that was him?”

“…I think so.”

As if sensing his burning stare, the man called “Brother Yun” casually lifted his head.

Refined features, impossibly handsome, sharp nose, thin lips, clean lines that made his face almost too perfect.

He was sexy, tall, and carried an effortless aura that separated him from the group of rowdy youths yet his gentle demeanor somehow blended him seamlessly into the scene.

And his eyes..

Narrow, grayish under the sunlight, elegant yet deep.

Lu Jiu remembered them clearly, the same eyes that had looked down at him that night, thoughtful, half-smiling, almost tender.

That night at the bar, before he crossed worlds, the way, the man had turned, rested a hand on his shoulder, and smiled just like that.

Polite. Gentle. Lips curved ever so slightly.

Lu Jiu felt a shiver shoot straight down his spine. He inhaled sharply.

There was no way he could mistake that face.

So the man he’d slept with was his senior, he hadn’t been hallucinating?!

And in this world, his senior wasn’t called Xi Yun, but Bai Yun?!

111 hissed, “Parallel worlds can have the same people, your father exists here too, right? So your senior could also appear here. So maybe…”

Lu Jiu: “…”

So basically, the two men he thought he’d slept with were actually the same guy?!

What??? His senior was his destined soulmate?!

Before he could recover from that shocking realization, someone else noticed him.

A man walked over from the lawn, arms full of things, looking sycophantic and eager to please, the “Kidney-Weak Guy.”

When he spotted Lu Jiu, his eyes lit up and he jogged over.

The shrinking distance immediately drew everyone’s attention.

Dozens of meaningful glances turned their way.

Shen Ke tensed up, stepping forward protectively like a tiny mother hen.

“I knew it, couldn’t find him before ‘cause he’s been buttering up Ye-ge and Bai Yun-ge over here…” he muttered.

The “Kidney-Weak Guy” seemed oblivious to the stares, greeting Lu Jiu cheerfully, “Yo, Jiujiu, you came too? Ye Qin told me you weren’t coming!”

…Lu Jiu didn’t even look at him, still staring silently at Bai Yun.

The handsome man took a sip of water, glanced at the newcomer, then looked back at Lu Jiu, his gaze brushing over him like a feather.

Lu Jiu looked away abruptly, staring into space while frantically digging through his memory for any information on Bai Yun.

Meanwhile, the “Kidney-Weak Guy” kept babbling, “I’ve been trying to reach you lately, why didn’t you reply? Is it ‘cause your little brother’s keeping an eye on you?” He shot a look at Lu Quning behind them and lowered his voice. “Your brother’s such a buzzkill. Come have a few drinks tonight? There’s a bar in this winery, it looks pretty nice.”

His tongue flicked out to wet his lips as he eyed Lu Jiu’s face.

Shen Ke nearly exploded, guarding Lu Jiu like a hawk. “Who wants to drink with you?!”

The man just grinned shamelessly. “What, can’t I make friends with Jiujiu? You don’t like older guys or something?”

Shen Ke looked about ready to vomit from the guy’s greasy tone. He also knew exactly how many people were watching, waiting for Lu Jiu to embarrass himself.

The scandal at the Ye house a month ago was still fresh gossip.

This sleazy guy was clearly doing it on purpose, everyone knew he was a lustful creep, hitting on any handsome man he saw.

In the past, Lu Jiu had been confident and sharp-tongued, he’d never let anyone get away with disrespect. The “Kidney-Weak Guy” had always been too scared to mess with him.

But now that Lu Jiu seemed gentler, quieter, this scumbag probably thought he could get away with it. Back then, when he’d provoked Lu Jiu and the crowd had laughed, he’d even looked like he was enjoying it.

Shen Ke hadn’t been able to stop him that day but today, he swore he’d protect his brother!

He opened his mouth to retort, terrified Lu Jiu would get upset again and fall into this jerk’s trap

“Since you know you’re old, why still come pestering me? I don’t talk to uncles, too much of a generation gap.”

The words dropped flatly into the air.

Silence.

It was like someone hit the mute button.

Every single person froze, all eyes turning to Lu Jiu.

…Did he really just say that?

The “Kidney-Weak Guy” stiffened, thinking he’d misheard. He pointed at himself. “I’m only twenty-nine?”

Lu Jiu, still lost in thought about Bai Yun, absentmindedly rubbed his chin and said without emotion, “Add four more years and you’d be a whole zodiac cycle older. When I was playing with mud, Uncle, you were already repeating a grade.”

“…”

A breeze rustled over the lawn. The whole area was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Finally, Lu Jiu recalled something about Bai Yun. His expression softened a little.

Feeling oddly good, he decided to finish off the conversation neatly, “I don’t like men who smell like old age.”
