“We’re an old married couple now, what’s there to be shy about?”
In a daze, a rustling sound stirred beside him. Lin Shen woke from his sleep, eyes half-closed, and turned toward the source of the noise.
His head felt unusually heavy. Even though his eyes were open, for a moment he couldn’t tell what day it was. In the darkness, Lin Shen vaguely saw a figure half-lifting the blanket, about to slip under the covers.
A sudden alarm went off in his mind, and Lin Shen’s entire body tensed up.
After graduating, he had moved out of the family home and lived alone. He didn’t even have a cleaning auntie—how could someone climb into his bed in the middle of the night!
“Did I wake you?”
It was an exceptionally gentle and deep voice, perhaps because it was late at night, carrying a hint of huskiness within its warmth.
It didn’t sound like the tone of a thief, but rather like the most ordinary greeting between lovers.
Moonlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, casting a blurry outline in the room. Lin Shen couldn’t make out the figure of the person, only feeling that the voice sounded somewhat familiar.
Yet, he couldn’t quite place whose voice it was.
“Sorry, I was supposed to finish work tomorrow, but I missed home too much, so I came back early.”
At this moment, Lin Shen seemed unusually slow-witted. Faced with an unknown person who had inexplicably broken into his home in the middle of the night, he simply lay dazedly in bed, his body unable to react.
The man brushed aside the hair at his temple, and then a shadow fell over him. Lin Shen seemed to sense something, his dark eyes flickering slightly.
The next moment, the man’s presence drew closer, their noses touching, and a warm, moist kiss landed on his lips.
Lin Shen’s pupils widened abruptly.
—I was kissed?
Realizing this, his body finally reacted, instinctively trying to avoid the deepening kiss.
The man seemed to sense his resistance and pulled back slightly, reaching out to turn on the bedside lamp.
Warm yellow light fell on Lin Shen’s eyelashes. He squinted slightly, waiting to adjust from the darkness to the sudden brightness before he could clearly see the person before him.
Once he saw clearly, he froze once again.
This face…
This face looked exactly like his idol, the top male god—Lu Jing!
Lin Shen was utterly bewildered.
Perhaps because the light wasn’t particularly bright, the man didn’t notice Lin Shen’s strange reaction, assuming he was simply not fully awake after being disturbed in the middle of the night.
The man propped himself up on one side of the pillow, his other hand gently caressing Lin Shen’s cheek, his movements tender as if touching the world’s most precious and fragile treasure. “It’s been half a month since we last saw each other. Did you miss me?”
Lin Shen remembered.
This familiar voice was Lu Jing’s.
So this person was—
Lin Shen tentatively called out, “…Lu Jing?”
“Mm.” A muffled voice sounded beside his ear. “There are no cherries left at home. I’ll have my assistant buy some tomorrow.”
Cherries were Lin Shen’s favorite fruit.
But he and Lu Jing had never interacted before. If this really was Lu Jing, why was he so intimately familiar with him and aware of his fruit preferences?
He had never revealed his fruit preferences to anyone other than family and close friends.
Lin Shen called out uncertainly once more, “…Film Emperor Lu?”
“Mhm.” The man rubbed his cheek gently and responded again, “I’m here, what’s wrong?”
The reply came so naturally, it didn’t seem like someone impersonating him.
This realization left Lin Shen utterly stunned. His sluggish mind finally began to stir, and he forced himself to think about his current situation.
Before Lin Shen could make sense of anything, an even more astonishing scene unfolded before him—
Lu Jing leaned down once more and kissed his neck.
This kiss was different from the last—no longer a fleeting touch, no longer a passing shadow. The warm breath slowly traced over his skin, from his collarbone to his chin, then the corner of his mouth, and finally his lips.
A hazy atmosphere began to permeate the air, a feeling Lin Shen had never experienced or known before, yet it felt strangely familiar.
When Lin Shen realized what the man was doing, the string in his mind—snapped.
The kiss grew urgent, and a flush spread from his neck to the tips of his ears. Lin Shen could barely catch his breath, his oxygen-deprived brain struggling to think. Just as he was about to run out of air, he turned his head to avoid the man’s advance and gasped, “Are you really Lu Jing?”
The man paused for a moment, then let out a low chuckle. The vibration from his throat and nasal cavity sounded incredibly pleasant, sending a shiver through Lin Shen’s heart, as if someone had gently tickled him.
After laughing, Lin Shen heard the man say softly, “Absolutely certain.”
Lin Shen then asked, “Then… what is our relationship?”
“Of course, we’re partners,” Lu Jing was amused by the question and laughed again, making Lin Shen’s heart flutter. “Two weeks apart really was too long.”
The words “partners” left Lin Shen completely unable to think.
He stared at this handsome man who was always on screen, and only four words echoed in his mind—I. Am. Shattered.
Translated further, it meant: What. Did. I. Do. To. Deserve. This.
Lu Jing glanced at him with his beautiful eyes, then leaned down to press a kiss to the corner of his lips.
Lin Shen froze, unsure how to react.
Lu Jing’s hand had already slipped into his pants. “We’re an old married couple, what are you shy about?”
The sudden movement made Lin Shen jolt, and he immediately rolled over, breaking free from Lu Jing’s embrace.
At the same time, a startling cry filled the room.
“Ah—”
…
The bedroom was brightly lit, the warm yellow lights replaced by glaring white ones. Lin Shen and Lu Jing sat on opposite sides of the bed, with two red booklets placed between them, each bearing three festive characters—Marriage Certificate.
The two red booklets clearly displayed the basic information of Lin Shen and Lu Jing, with the registration date showing March 1st, two years ago.
Earlier, Lin Shen’s sluggish mind had finally returned to normal when Lu Jing slipped his hand into his pants. However, upon learning from Lu Jing that he was married and that his husband was none other than his idol, Lu Jing himself, he was no longer sure if he had truly regained his senses.
After all, no one would have imagined that simply going to sleep could turn a dream into reality.
Lin Shen sat cross-legged on the bed, his expression shifting from shock to confusion, then from confusion to disbelief.
Finally, faced with one compelling piece of evidence after another presented by Lu Jing, he had no choice but to accept two facts—
One was that he was indeed married and had a husband—who happened to be his idol, Lu Jing himself.
The other was that he had lost his memory.
His memories stopped at two years ago, and he couldn’t recall anything that had happened since.
He furrowed his brows, deeply troubled by the current situation.
Across from him, Lu Jing’s brows were also knitted.
They faced each other in silence for a moment before Lu Jing let out a heavy sigh, picked up his phone nearby, and made as if to dial a number.
Lin Shen glanced at the wall clock—three in the morning.
“Um…” Lin Shen wasn’t sure how to address Lu Jing.
Lu Jing looked up at him.
“…Who are you calling?”
Lu Jing replied, “A doctor.”
Such a situation indeed called for a professional doctor, but after a moment’s hesitation, Lin Shen said, “It’s too late now. Besides losing my memory, I don’t have any other discomfort, so there’s no need to disturb the doctor’s rest. Let’s go to the hospital tomorrow.”
Lu Jing stopped scrolling through his contacts and asked, “Do you remember anything at all from the last moment before you lost your memory?”
Lin Shen answered honestly, “Not a thing.”
Lu Jing asked again, “Do you have a headache? Is there any discomfort anywhere on your body?”
Lin Shen shook his head, stretched his arms and legs, and carefully confirmed that he truly felt no discomfort before saying to Lu Jing, “No headache, and no discomfort anywhere.”
Lu Jing’s tense nerves relaxed at his earnest demeanor. Disturbing someone so late at night was indeed inappropriate, and aside from his lost memory, Lin Shen showed no other signs of injury. Perhaps it was just exhaustion from work, and a good night’s sleep might help him recover.
Lu Jing put down his phone, pinched the corners of his eyes, and told himself to stay calm. The situation wasn’t as bad as he had imagined—at least Lin Shen hadn’t encountered any other danger.
“I’m sorry, I was too careless. I’ll reduce the frequency of my business trips from now on.”
In fact, Lu Jing had already cut back on many work commitments after getting married. He had debuted as a child star and had been famous since childhood, with most of his time filled by work. Despite being under thirty, he was already considered a veteran in the entertainment industry.
With limited energy, after marriage, he began reducing his workload to spend more time with his family.
Even so, his popularity as a top-tier male idol remained undiminished. Any news about him, no matter how trivial, could spark a frenzy. No matter how low-key he tried to be, he couldn’t completely disappear from the public eye.
Over the years, the biggest and longest-kept secret he had hidden was his marriage.
“It’s not your fault,” Lin Shen said, still unaccustomed to Lu Jing’s concerned demeanor. “I’m an adult and should take responsibility for my own health. Besides, you can’t always be by my side.”
It was already quite late. Lu Jing used the light in the room to examine Lin Shen from head to toe once more, confirming there were no obvious external injuries before saying, “I’m also at fault in this matter, but now isn’t the time to assign blame. The most urgent thing is for you to get some proper rest.”
Lu Jing carefully stored the marriage certificate in the bedside drawer. Just as he was about to turn off the light, he noticed Lin Shen sitting motionless in place, lost in thought.
His hand paused mid-air, and Lu Jing cast a questioning glance toward Lin Shen.
Lin Shen was currently engaged in an intense internal struggle. His eyes wandered, his fingers clenched tightly, and even his breathing became somewhat unnatural.
Finally, under Lu Jing’s gaze, he mustered the courage to ask in a voice so faint it was almost inaudible, “Um, tonight… will we be sleeping in the same bed?”
