In the story of *Wuthering Waves*, Scar held back at every turn during his battle with the Rover, ultimately being lured into a trap by the Rover and Jinhsi and thrown into prison.

Had the Scar in the story shown his full strength from the very beginning, the Rover, who had not yet recovered their memories, might not have defeated him so easily.

But You Luoming was different.Full novel: Wuthering Waves: Gacha System in a Dark Timeline — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

You Luoming had pulled the Rover (Spectro) at the absolute peak of their power, possessing the combat capabilities of the Rover in their prime.

If not for the fact that his hastily assembled set of five Echoes was slightly lacking in stats, he could have easily gone toe-to-toe with Scar.

If only he had a Max Sequence Rover.

Plus a Rank 5 Emerald of Genesis.

And a perfect endgame Echo set.

If he couldn’t beat the literal shit out of Scar right now, it would only be because Scar had cleaned himself out beforehand.

But what he didn’t have, he didn’t have.

For now, You Luoming could only continuously dodge Scar’s attacks, seizing moments when Scar exposed a weakness to land a few slashes.

This sluggish damage output left him rather frustrated.

“You freak!” Scar gritted his teeth, unable to conceal the rising fury in his voice.

Every single one of his attacks felt as though it had been anticipated by the man before him.

Even when he altered his patterns and moves on the fly, this man adapted instantly, even using the shift to find his weaknesses.

Despite trapping him within a barrier on this isolated island no larger than a basketball court, he couldn’t even graze the hem of You Luoming’s clothes.

Whenever he let his emotions get the better of him and overextended his strikes without leaving room to recover, You Luoming would seize the opening and slash him multiple times.

By now, he had suffered more wounds than he could count.

It hurt—it hurt so much.

Some of the cuts were so deep that bone was visible, refusing to close even under the influence of his spatial power as blood seeped out continuously.

Scar swore he had never fought such a stifling battle.

It was as if his opponent had fought him thousands of times and understood him far better than he understood himself.

“Aaaaaaargh!” Scar roared, flinging another handful of explosive playing cards.

Sure enough, his opponent dodged them as easily as taking a stroll in the park.

After fighting for so long, he hadn’t even managed to stain You Luoming’s white clothes, while he himself was covered in injuries.

Scar roared again, savagely driving the Resonance power within his body.

In an instant, he entered a state of Overclocking, his entire body radiating a blinding red light.

His body swelled abruptly as a pair of curved horns erupted from the sides of his forehead.

Dark purple flames burned around him, making him look like a horned demon crawling out of the abyssal forge of hell.

His towering frame instantly occupied half the space of this isolated island.

Flourishing his wooden longsword, Scar’s raspy voice echoed from the body of the horned demon: “You brought this on yourself!” Unlike the panic and dread Scar had expected, You Luoming was delighted rather than alarmed.

His face lit up with anticipation.

“Finally, phase two!” Phase two?

What did “phase two” mean?

And even if it was “phase two,” what was with the “finally”?

Bewildered, Scar felt a surge of unease rise in his chest, which he instantly suppressed with raw fury: “You court death!” His eyes nearly splitting with rage, Scar swung his longsword, vowing to grind You Luoming’s bones to ash!

Outside the barrier.

“The wind tells me that the last three members of the Fractsidus are lying in wait behind the wall ahead.” Yangyang pressed her fingers to her temple, a faint green light flickering in her eyes.

Beside her, Chixia picked up a standard Fractsidus artillery shell and aimed in the direction Yangyang pointed: “Leave it to me!” Boom!

The shell struck the wall with pinpoint accuracy.

Three figures clad in Fractsidus uniforms were blown into the air, falling lifelessly to the ground.

“Yeah!” Chixia high-fived Yangyang excitedly.

“The last of the Fractsidus members have been dealt with!

Now, it’s all up to You Luoming.” Yangyang gazed worriedly at the distant red barrier, clasping her hands to her chest in silent prayer: *You must win, You Luoming.* “Yangyang, look over there!

It’s the Magistrate!” Chixia pointed toward Jinhsi in the distance.

Yangyang followed her gaze and saw Jinhsi trembling more and more violently.

Opposite Jinhsi, the Whispering Oculus was releasing more and more black mist, its area of coverage slowly expanding.

“Oh no, the Magistrate is about to lose control over that eyeball!” Yangyang’s expression shifted.

She quickly called out to the Patrollers: “Put on your Cognition-Shielding Bracelets and get the citizens of Jinzhou out of the Tacet Field!

Hurry!” Meanwhile, inside the barrier.

Under the intense clash, the temperature of the entire battlefield was soaring.

Phase-two Scar left far more openings than before, and they were far more lethal!

The Commando of Conviction was coated in a golden halo.

Under You Luoming’s icy gaze, it pierced precisely into Scar’s temple, producing a metallic, explosive clang.

Making no attempt to hide his killing intent, he gripped the hilt with both hands and wrenched the broadblade upward.

The force of the heavy slash pulled the horned demon backward, leaving his front completely exposed.

You Luoming was not about to let this rare opportunity slip.

Shattering the ground beneath his feet, he leaped high into the air with his blade raised, plunging the Commando of Conviction deep into the horned demon’s heart.

Planting his feet against the exposed bones of the demon’s chest wound, he used the leverage to force the Commando of Conviction down even harder.

The friction between the blade and the dry, tearing flesh kicked up brilliant sparks.

The flesh parted mercilessly, like a divine blade plowing a deep trench into the earth.

Midst a roar of agony and fury, You Luoming pulled out his blade and landed gracefully.

With his back to Scar, he gave the Commando of Conviction a stylish flourish.

Black blood dripped from the blade of the Commando of Conviction, reflecting the image of the horned demon kneeling on the battlefield, propping itself up with its wooden longsword.

Its left hand clutched its chest, but it could not stop the blood from gushing out of the massive gash that ran from its heart down to its lower left abdomen.

A boundless Resonance power began to gather in the palm of the man standing before it, radiating the intense heat and brilliance of a blazing sun.

Scar could only watch helplessly, unable to muster any resistance, or even a single roar.

“Echoes, resonate!” The majestic power erupted with a deafening blast.

Scar’s massive frame was sent flying.

By the time he hit the ground, he had reverted to his human form.

“Cough…

how could I…

lose to an absolute nobody like you?” Scar lay on all fours, coughing up mouthfuls of blood as the crimson barrier around them slowly dissolved.

Dragging the Commando of Conviction, You Luoming approached slowly.

The tip of his blade scraped against the ground with a screeching sound, leaving a straight groove in its wake—like the trail left by the Grim Reaper.

“Speak.

Where is the Rover?” “Hehehehe…” Scar lowered his head, letting out a low, ambiguous chuckle.

He cast a sideward glance toward the Patrollers leading the Jinzhou citizens out of the Tacet Field in the distance.

“Where is the Rover…?

Do you really need to ask me that?” “Cut the crap!” Feeling completely baffled, You Luoming plunged his blade straight into Scar’s abdomen.

“Who else would I ask?!” Yanking out the Commando of Conviction, You Luoming demanded once more: “Speak.

Where is the Rover?” Scar clutched his wound with one hand, looking up to stare coldly at You Luoming.

Having been forcibly knocked out of his Overclocked state, he needed time to regain his strength.

But that didn’t mean he would let You Luoming humiliate him with such idiotic questions.

He spat defiantly: “I will not repeat a meaningless dialogue a second time.” Then, he took another stab.

“Are you going to talk or not?” Watching the silent Scar, You Luoming grew increasingly frustrated.

As a professional account booster, he knew that the Fractsidus Overseers were basically die-hard fans of the Rover, but he hadn’t expected them to be this fiercely loyal.

He just wanted to know where the Rover was.

Why was this so hard!

His right hand plunged the blade in and out so fast it practically left afterimages: “Talk!

Talk!

Talk!” “Stop!” Unable to bear the agonizing pain any longer, Scar finally spoke.

Dignity and humiliation no longer mattered; if this guy kept pile-driving stabs into him like this, he was going to die.

Thus, Scar chose to confess what he believed to be the truth: “The Rover has already been rescued from the Tacet Field by your people.” You Luoming paused, glancing toward the exit of the Tacet Field.

He saw the group of Patrollers escorting the Jinzhou citizens away, and his mind raced.

First, the Rover couldn’t be one of the Patrollers.

Second, the Rover couldn’t be one of the rescued citizens of Jinzhou.

Therefore— Scar was lying!

A surge of anger rushed to his head, and You Luoming stabbed Scar in the abdomen yet again: “How dare you play me!”
