“Good morning, Miss Shen.” Gu Xirou turned around.
Today she wore a V-neck shirt, and as she spoke she tugged the neckline down without changing her expression, revealing the mottled kiss marks on her chest.
The nausea surged up wildly again, and Shen Suiwan turned to leave.
Just then Gu Tingshen came out of the kitchen carrying the fried eggs, and seeing this he spoke at once. “Wanwan, we’ll go to the company together in a bit.”
“I’m not going to the company.” Shen Suiwan did not even turn her head. “I’m going to the hospital.”
“The hospital? What’s wrong with you?” Gu Tingshen set the plate on the dining table. “I’ll go with you.”
He was about to walk toward Shen Suiwan when Gu Xirou grabbed his arm.
“Brother, did you forget? You said you’d keep me company today…”
The tone was pitiful and aggrieved.
Sure enough, Gu Tingshen hesitated and stopped in his tracks.
It was what she had expected. Shen Suiwan could not be bothered to pay any more attention to Gu Tingshen’s false affection, and left on her own.
Gu Tingshen watched her retreating figure, and for some reason a faint unease rose in his heart.
But on second thought, Shen Suiwan loved him so much, and he had only failed to accompany her to the hospital. At most she would sulk a bit, so what was there to worry about?
At the hospital, she had the examination done.
“Your stomach trouble has gotten worse again. I’ll prescribe you some medicine, and remember to take it on schedule.” The doctor looked at the examination report.
Shen Suiwan let out a breath of relief.
Fortunately, she was not pregnant.
“Miss Shen, have you been overworking again lately, staying up late often and eating irregularly?” The doctor’s expression was serious. “Although you’re still young now, if you don’t take stomach trouble seriously, it could very likely turn into a big problem in the future!”
Shen Suiwan smiled bitterly.
Lately, for the sake of that project, she really had given it everything she had, without even regard for her own body.
But the project had already reached its final stage, and she did not need to push herself so hard anymore.
“Thank you, Doctor. I’ll be careful.”
“It’s not only during this period that you need to be careful. You can’t go on like this in the future either.”
“Mm.” Shen Suiwan said softly, “Never again.”
After picking up her medicine and leaving the hospital, Shen Suiwan went to the company.
She had just stepped out of the elevator when she heard a soft, amiable voice. “We’ll all be colleagues from now on. This is a small token of my regard, so please don’t be shy about it.”
“Wow, these are pastries from Yuansuji! I remember that place is very expensive!”
“Miss Gu, you’re so generous.”
“As long as everyone likes them.”
The colleagues in the president’s office surrounded Gu Xirou like stars around the moon, and she was handing out pastries to everyone one by one.
“Secretary Shen, you’re here.” A colleague saw her and greeted her. “Come over quickly. This is Miss Gu, who just joined.”
Gu Xirou raised her eyes to look at her, her red lips curving up.
There seemed to be provocation and gloating in her smile. Shen Suiwan frowned slightly, ignored her, and simply walked over to her own workstation.
The young assistant came over, her face full of grievance and indignation.
“Secretary Shen, why should it be like this…”
“What’s the matter?” Shen Suiwan turned on her computer, planning to refine one of the schedules in the project.
“You’ve worked so hard on that project all this time, so why should someone else enjoy the fruits of your labor now!”
Shen Suiwan’s fingers paused.
“What do you mean?”
“President Gu just announced that the project you’ve been in charge of all along will be taken over by that Miss Gu starting today!” The young assistant was full of indignation.
Blood rushed straight to her temples.
No wonder Gu Xirou had worn that expression just now.
It was because she could snatch away half a year of Shen Suiwan’s hard work without the slightest effort.
Shen Suiwan stood up at once and walked into Gu Tingshen’s office.
“You’re putting Gu Xirou in charge of that project?”
Perhaps because he had expected her to come and ask, Gu Tingshen was as calm as ever.
“You really have worked too hard during this period.” He said gently, “You even went to the hospital today. I’m worried about your health, so it’s better to let Rourou take charge of the project.”
Shen Suiwan gave a cold laugh. “The project has already reached its final stage, and the hardest part is over. When the project ends, whose name goes down as the person in charge? Whose achievement is it counted as?”
She had nearly ruined her health for this project, and with a few light words Gu Tingshen wanted to let Gu Xirou reap the rewards for nothing!
“Wanwan!” Gu Tingshen’s expression darkened slightly. “For the coming cooperation with the Shen family, I want Rourou to take part. If she can have this achievement to her name, it will be good for the cooperation later. Can’t you be a little more sensible?”
