Jun Lin cooked dinner.
By the time Xia Ruohan finished showering upstairs, Jun Lin had already prepared a meal for the two of them—it looked, smelled, and tasted amazing.
“You actually know how to cook!” She picked up her chopsticks, grabbed a piece of meat, and popped it into her mouth. Her eyes widened. “Wow, this is delicious!”
Watching Xia Ruohan’s enthusiastic eating, Jun Lin shook his head, served her a bowl of rice, placed it in front of her, and said, “Eat.”
“Okay.”
Xia Ruohan sat down and began eating.
After a moment, she noticed Jun Lin sitting there without moving. Her hand holding the chopsticks froze; she looked at him and asked, “Why aren’t you eating?”
She’d forgotten that today, it was just her and Jun Lin in the villa… If things got awkward, there’d be no one for her to talk to even if she wanted to.
“I’m not hungry,” Jun Lin said, picking up his own chopsticks to serve her some food. “Eat more.”
“Thanks.” Xia Ruohan lowered her head to shovel rice into her mouth, trying her best to keep the sound of her eating as quiet as possible.
Jun Lin smiled slightly and said, “No one’s going to take it from you.”
“I… I know.” Hearing this, Xia Ruohan lowered her head even further and ate even faster.
Jun Lin didn’t say anything else to her. Holding his rice bowl in one hand and his chopsticks in the other, he calmly picked up food and began eating, every movement exuding elegance—a stark contrast to Xia Ruohan.
After dinner, Xia Ruohan sat in the living room, sketching with her art supplies.
Although she was a senior and her main focus should have been her thesis, Xia Ruohan hated those word-heavy papers and couldn’t be bothered with them. After all, she still had a year left—there was no rush.
Jun Lin stood nearby with a cup of coffee, watching the young girl hold her brush as she quickly sketched a landscape on the rice paper. A smile deepened at the corners of his lips.
After a long session of tweaking and revising, Xia Ruohan finally finished her first draft. She washed her hands and noticed the clock had already struck ten, surprised at how quickly time had flown.
She set the sketch down on the coffee table, tidied up her supplies, turned off the lights downstairs, and headed upstairs.
The bedroom door was open. Seeing Jun Lin sitting on the bed with his laptop, Xia Ruohan realized she might have to sleep with him tonight while fully awake.
“Time for bed,” Jun Lin said when he saw her.
Xia Ruohan shuffled over, moving slower than a snail.
Jun Lin lifted his eyelids to glance at her and said indifferently, “Do you want to sleep on the couch tonight?”
“Can I?” Xia Ruohan’s eyes lit up, her voice brimming with delight.
“……”
“No.”
Jun Lin’s words were as cold as the temperature in the dead of winter.
Xia Ruohan climbed onto the bed and sat on one side, afraid to get too close to Jun Lin.
“Come here.” Jun Lin patted the spot next to him.
Xia Ruohan’s inner thoughts: Waaah, I don’t want to go over there. This is too hard for me.
“I’ll just sleep on this side…” She lay down, her back turned to Jun Lin.
“Come here.” Jun Lin spoke again. Xia Ruohan shrank her neck and clutched the blanket tightly.
A moment later, she rolled over to Jun Lin’s side, still with her back to him.
Jun Lin reached out to turn off the light and lay down.
The person behind her pressed close, a hand resting on her waist. Xia Ruohan stiffened, not even daring to breathe too deeply.
“You’re not just a trophy wife, Mrs. Jun.” Jun Lin’s lips brushed against the back of her ear. His voice was magnetic, slightly hoarse, utterly captivating.
“Ruoruo.”
“Wh—what are you doing?” Xia Ruohan asked.
“What do you think? Hmm?” The arm around her waist tightened suddenly. The next second, Xia Ruohan was turned around, her nose bumping unexpectedly against Jun Lin’s chest.
The woman in his arms was as smooth as jade, her body exuding the fresh scent of shower gel and the faint aroma of ink from her earlier work. How could a man not be moved?
He lifted Xia Ruohan’s chin, his fingers gently caressing it. “You’re my wife. Understand?”
The rising inflection at the end of his voice was utterly seductive.
