[Sayer, LP: 8000]

[Kazumo, LP: 8000]

During the silent standoff, neither side spoke first, and the Duel Disks made the decision.Full novel: Yu-Gi-Oh!: Who Taught You Guys Link Summoning?! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Looks like I’ll be going first.” Sayer glanced across his hand and pulled out one of the cards.

“I Normal Summon Serene Psychic Girl.”

[Serene Psychic Girl] Level 2│EARTH│Psychic│Tuner│500 ATK

“I activate her effect.

When she is successfully Summoned, I banish one card from my hand to Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Psychic monster from my Deck.

Come forth, Mind Procedure.”

The Psychic Girl crossed the glowing green psychic weapons in her hands, releasing visible waves of psychic energy.

Soon after, another psychic pulse emerged from the Deck in response to her call.

The light twisted as a capsule-shaped robot carrying a living brain appeared on the field.

[Mind Procedure] Level 3│LIGHT│Psychic│Tuner│1100 ATK

“Next, I activate Mind Procedure’s effect.

By paying 2000 LP, I add [Emergency Teleport] from my Deck to my hand.”

[Sayer, LP: 8000 → 6000]

As his Life Points dropped, a pained expression flashed across Sayer’s face.

However, he seemed completely accustomed to it and paid little attention, casually adding the card ejected from his Deck into his hand.

This was the price of a Spirit Duelist’s power.

Unlike users of Spirit Power, who paid with their “mind,” Spirit Duelists paid with their “body.”

The stronger the psychic power, the more severe the damage inflicted upon the body.

The appearance of Mind Procedure on the field also revealed the ultimate fate of Spirit Duelists: abandoning the flesh and preserving only the spirit.

“I tune Mind Procedure and Serene Psychic Girl on my field!”

Synchro Summon!

[Silent Psychic Magician] Level 5│EARTH│Psychic│Tuner│2400 ATK

A magician clad in a blue bodysuit and white technological armor burst onto the field, swinging his wand and scattering dazzling electric arcs.

Watching this textbook Psychic Deck combo, Kazumo could only helplessly shake his head.

If only he had a hand trap right now, this would have been an instant kill.

His Deck clearly contained two copies of “Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring” and one “Maxx ‘C’,” yet aside from seeing them when building the Deck, those three bastards never showed up any other time!

Sayer’s voice continued.

“I activate Silent Psychic Magician’s effect to revive Serene Psychic Girl from the Graveyard.”

The girl in yellow robes returned to the field once more amidst blue-green light, her Level increasing by one and becoming Level 3.

“Next, I activate the Quick-Play Spell Card in my hand, Emergency Teleport!

I Special Summon a Level 3 or lower Psychic monster from my Deck.”

“Come forth, Noh-P.U.N.K.

Ze Amin!”

[Noh-P.U.N.K.

Ze Amin] Level 3│EARTH│Psychic│Tuner│600 DEF

As expected of the rich.

He casually threw out one ten-thousandth of the city’s GDP.

While Kazumo inwardly marveled, the familiar blonde dancer in a qipao gracefully descended onto the field amidst neon lights.

“I activate Ze Amin’s effect upon being Summoned.

By paying 600 LP, I add Noh-P.U.N.K.

Rising Scale from my Deck to my hand.”

[Sayer, LP: 6000 → 5400]

“Next, I activate Serene Psychic Girl’s effect to increase Ze Amin’s Level by one.

I tune Level 4 Ze Amin with Level 5 Silent Psychic Magician!”

Synchro Summon!

[Psychic Blaster Mk-II] Level 9│EARTH│Psychic│3200 ATK

A Psychic warrior clad in white technological armor descended to the field, carrying an enormous firearm in its hands.

“At this moment, I activate Rising Scale’s effect, banishing Ze Amin from the Graveyard to Special Summon her.”

[Noh-P.U.N.K.

Rising Scale] Level 8│WATER│Sea Serpent│2400 ATK

“Now, as the summon resolves, I activate Rising Scale’s effect upon being Summoned!

By paying 600 LP, I Special Summon Noh-P.U.N.K.

Deer Note from my Deck!”

[Noh-P.U.N.K.

Deer Note] Level 5│EARTH│Warrior│2100 ATK

Sayer paused as the two graceful dancers leapt hand in hand from a cybernetic torii gate formed from neon light.

“I activate Hyper Psychic Blaster’s effect to revive the banished Ze Amin!

I tune Ze Amin with Deer Note!”

Synchro Summon!

[P.U.N.K.

JAM Dragon Drive] Level 8│EARTH│Psychic│2700 ATK

As the light faded, Deer Note and Ze Amin now stood side by side, transformed into a dazzling figure adorned in neon dragon-dance attire while elegantly waving folding fans.

As Deer Note was sent to the Graveyard and Dragon Drive appeared, both monsters activated their effects simultaneously, forming a Chain.

Chain Link 1: Due to Deer Note’s effect, Ze Amin was revived onto the field once again.

Chain Link 2: Sayer paid another 600 LP to activate Dragon Drive’s effect, adding a Level 3 or lower Psychic monster to his hand.

The monster did not remain in Sayer’s hand for even a moment before he slammed it onto the Duel Disk.

[Hushed Psychic Minister] Level 3│EARTH│Psychic│2100 DEF

[Sayer, LP: 4800 → 4200]

Tune!”

As Sayer declared it, Serene Psychic Girl and Hushed Psychic Minister leapt into the Synchro light, while Ze Amin and Dragon Drive dissolved into neon radiance.

[Serene Psychic Sorceress] Level 6│EARTH│Psychic│2400 ATK

[Juraishin, the Cursed Thunder God] Level 11│EARTH│Psychic│3100 ATK

A red-haired Psychic girl silently emerged from the Synchro light.

Immediately afterward, a massive bolt of lightning struck down before Sayer’s field.

The ground trembled, and amid deafening thunder, a pitch-black thunder god stepped forth.

Violent currents of energy swirled around its body, whipping the clothes of both Sayer and Kazumo violently in the gale.

“Serene Psychic Sorceress’s effect.

I pay 1000 LP to Set the Quick-Play Spell, Teleport Fusion, onto the field.

Then I Set one card.”

[Sayer, LP: 4200 → 3200]

Sayer finished all of his plays, yet he showed no hurry to end his turn.

He raised a hand and tidied the slightly disheveled hair caused by the recoil of paying Life Points, then looked down arrogantly at Kazumo.

“Kazumo Fujiki, Dark Signer.

What do you think of my performance?”

Kazumo blurted out, “Holy shit, what a combo!”

Although Sayer did not understand Kazumo’s response, he could still grasp the astonishment within it.

Naturally, he found that quite satisfying.

“From the moment you defeated Tetsu Trudge, you had already entered our sights.

After all, Trudge is no ordinary Duelist.”

Sayer paused, his expression turning gloomy.

“What a pity.

Despite being a Dark Signer, instead of obediently serving us, you actually dared oppose me, your master.”

As though he had already foreseen his own victory, Sayer spread his arms wide in the pose of a conqueror, his arrogant tone carrying the air of charity.

“I have already displayed my strength.

Surrender now and serve me, and I may still forgive your previous insolence.”

Kazumo immediately responded with the finest traditions of toxic trash talk.

“You’ve gotta be kidding me.

You’re like a toad lusting after swan meat!

Ugly as hell, but dreaming big.”

Faced with such humiliation, Sayer bared a savage grin.

“Good!

Then it seems I’ll have to properly discipline you on Goodwin’s behalf, you disobedient dog!”
