(Trigger Warning; this chapter contains mentions of self harm.) “I don’t understand..
you’re Zeus?” Ethan said naturally skeptical, “like the Zeus from the myths?
Mr, Lightning retribution killed your own father Zeus?” “What did you mean when you said ‘caught the attention of some other big fish?
I’m sure you’re not just here to tell us that?” Jason said as he stood up with a visible sweat breaking on his forehead.
“I can’t say their names because the price would be too high…
but I am here to let you two know that this is no longer the earth you two knew before you arrived.
I am assuming in some timeline of the future you two were working for one of my earth bound companies on one of my time travel research theories and you seem to have actually succeeded because this entire universe seems to have changed instantaneously under the noses of myself and the other Godheads.” Zeus began to speak giving a bit more information.
“Wait are you here to kill us for changing the universe?
I knew it was a bad idea, I knew it but I couldn’t stop myself, how could I when the answer was right at my fingertips ever since I had been shown the elementary formula at the interview.” Ethan began to mumble as his hands began to shake.
“Calm down boy, if I wanted you dead you would have died a million times over already.
As I said I am partly to blame for all of this so it is my responsibility that you two can at least survive as long as possible even in the face of the other Pantheons that will show up sooner or later.
I first need to explain a few things to you two.
What humans refer to as aliens exist.
Long ago humans lived alongside elves, demons, dwarves, dragons and every fairy tale creature that exist…” “They fought endlessly with one another until the strongest of the races decided in a vast universe it was best if we segregated ourselves to prevent the extinction of any race creating the earth and solar system you knew, where only humans existed.
Now it seems everything had been forcefully connected into a single unified world that even I am having trouble comprehending just how vast it is currently…” “So instead of us just traveling back in time we have essentially traveled to something like a different timeline?” Ethan asked now less nervous after hearing Zeus speak.
“I’m not too sure about that but allow me to finish, the cost of my even speaking to you right now may be to high for you to bear when I leave so this knowledge will do you well in the days to come as the cosmic energy and magnetic forces seem to have magnified greatly on this new earth and are still stabilizing.
The whole of the old earth is currently surrounded by an ice wall that should do well to keep insignificant threats out but I am forbidden against taking actions against mortals or immortals so if someone powerful does make their way into the old earth territory unless they are a God you humans will be on your own.
I will be keeping an eye on you, I will also orchestrate a contact to bring you two whatever you may need in the future but you cannot rely on me, you can only rely on yourselves.
In the days to come you must trust no one, there were things in this universe that took multiple pantheons collaborative effort to seal away.
You two are probably this universes only hope of returning everything to what we once knew so you must grow strong.
I will leave you with a gift, remember only you are in control of your fate.” Zeus said as he held out one finger sending two small lightning bolts directly into Jason and Ethan’s fore heads before disappearing out of the open garage door in a flash of lightning causing another loud boom to crackle and echo throughout the sky so powerful those nearby could feel the ground slightly shake.
As the small lightning bolts struck through their foreheads they both could feel a warm feeling through their entire body as their hearts began to pump faster.
They could feel every muscle in their body twitching and jumping as if they were doing intense exercises.
After a few moments their bodies began to calm as they exchanged glances at one another before finally Jason broke the silence.
“If what he said is true…” Jason began before being abruptly cut off by Ethan.
“If what he’s saying is true that means that we might get super powers, what even was that small lightning bolt he…” Ethan began before blood began to come out of Jason and Ethan’s ears and eyes and intense pain began to take over their bodies causing both of them to fall to the ground as their bodies began to convulse.
‘Is this the cost of him talking to us?’ Jason managed to think in his pain before eventually losing consciousness.
The door that led to the house began to open once more as Ethan’s mom had made some drinks and was bringing them out to Ethan and his new friend.
“Ethan!” She screamed seeing her son and his friend convulsing on the ground with blood flowing from their eyes and ears.
She quickly ran over dropping the drinks to the ground and pulling her phone out of her pocket dialing the emergency hotline.
“Help me!
Help!
My son and his friend are dying!” She shouted into the phone as soon as someone picked up.
Some of their neighbors had come outside after hearing the loud thunder and feeling their houses vibrate on such a sunny day, and hearing Ethan’s mother’s screams a few of the more curious ones had began to make their way over.
A few of their neighbors had already made their way over towards Ethan’s home after what seemed like an endless bolt of lightning struck out from the garage.
It didn’t take long for an ambulance to arrive, and they quickly got to work as their neighbors stood back watching the scene and gossiping about what they thought happened.
“Didn’t the Harper’s just get a divorce?” “Do you think their son tried to kill himself to get his parents back together?” “No way, there’s another boy in there didn’t you see him?
What do you think it’s like a group suicide or something?” “What do you mean there’s another boy in there?
I thought I had seen three figures in there while I was walking down the street.” After a few minutes of waiting the paramedics arrived and quickly got to work.
They checked for injuries and got as much information as they could from Ethan’s mother while getting the boys into the transport beds.
“I-I don’t know what happened he was just laying there bleeding and twitching!” Ethan’s mom sobbed into the phone as she rushed in her home to grab her belongings to meet them at the hospital.
…
She arrived at the hospital in a timely manner not long after the boys had been admitted into the emergency department.
“What happened to them are they okay?” She asked the doctor who had come to speak with her.
“Both boys are currently being stabilized and treated, they seem to both have internal bleeding and minor concussions with some pretty nasty muscle tears.
The oddest thing is there seems to be no external injuries or bruising on them and no trace of any external substances in their systems.
Do you have any idea what could have caused this?” The doctor asked her.
“They were working on an old computer in the garage while I made them some drinks, and there were some lightning strikes outside when I had gone back to the garage they were like this.
Are they going to be okay?” She said obviously breaking down.
“They should be fine, but they will definitely need some medical attention for the time being, I will update you if there is any more information.
Also do you have a way to contact the other boys family?” The doctor said.
“”No, I’m sorry I don’t even know that boys name he said he and my son had become friends recently.” “Okay that’s fine, we are currently getting the boys hooked into new IV fluid, I will have a nurse come get you when the room is less busy.” The doctor said before turning and walking away.
As the doctor was walking away some of the other people in the waiting room began to scream “Fire!
Fire!
That man’s on fire!” Acting before speaking the doctor went for the fire extinguisher on the wall and quickly used it on the man’s fiery hands only to see the fire wouldn’t go out.
“I could have told you that wouldn’t work…
luckily the fire doesn’t seem to spread, at least it hasn’t yet.
But I don’t know what’s going on, it doesn’t hurt but it’s obviously hot.” The man with fiery hands spoke calmly as if he wasn’t surprised about this happening at all.
“Quickly get this man a room and begin his intake in his room.” The doctor spoke while pushing the man towards the back of the waiting room into the protected privacy area by the rooms.
Seeing all of this seemed to play out in slow motion in front of Ethan’s mother as her day began to play itself in her head remembering how powerless she felt when she had seen her son and his friend injured.
In the current moment all she could think was ‘what is today?’ As she pulled out her phone.
