Jason chuckled at what his friend had to say, “don’t think about that stuff too much, I think it’s best if we either join under someone’s banner when the time comes or figure out how to use whatever energy Aria, and Mr.
Z were talking about.” He said.
“You mean Zu..” Ethan began before Jason quickly lunged covering his mouth.
“Honestly think it’s best if we don’t mention that name, remember he said something about a cost..
maybe that’s what got us in our current predicament.” Jason said glad he had caught is friend before he could finish his name.
“Oh yea didn’t he say he was leaving us with a gift?
Have you been able to figure out what it was?” Ethan asked as he closed his eyes and began to attempt to manipulate the new found energy within himself.
“I don’t know but that foreign energy within almost feels like an additional limb, and considering that the lady asked about it I don’t think that could be it.
Maybe we will figure out after we learn a bit more.
About what this new world has to offer.
I think it’s best if right now we try to master this internal energy and bounce ideas off one another about how it might work.” Jason said as he stood up and stretched.
“What could be the best way to master this new energy?” Ethan mused aloud as he continued to move the energy all around his body like a pulse.
He stretched the energy, spreading it out, compressed it as small as he could and even attempted to circulate it around his body fast enough for it to essentially cover his entire body in less than a second.
Jason did almost the same exercises in his own bed across from Ethan, granted they both had a specific method to their madness as they were taking mental notes on the sensations they felt while experimenting with the energy.
After a while like this the door to Ethan’s room was eventually opened and a man and woman could be seen walking in as both Ethan and Jason opened their eyes to see who was entering.

Dad?
Are you guys okay?” Ethan asked seeing both his parents together his father holding a few boxes of pizza while his mother has a bag of drinks and snacks in her hand.
“Son, we’re so glad you’re okay, there’s so much going on in the world right now I don’t know if it’s safe for us to remain separated for the time being.” Ethan’s mother said while his father nodded solemnly.
“Hey!
Uh my friend doesn’t have a family to go home to, do you think it’s okay if he stays with us?” Ethan said hearing his parents had decided to get back together in the current state of crisis.
Both Ethan’s mother and father looked over to Jason who sat silently just watching the families interactions paying attention to their expressions and body language.
“Is what Ethan is saying true?
If it is I’m sure it won’t be too much of a hassle.” Ethan’s father said as he carefully inspected Jason.
“Yes, I’ve been an orphan for as long as I remember, you can try to go through the proper channels to adopt me but with everything going on it might be more trouble than what it’s worth.” Jason said plainly.
Hearing this Ethan’s father let out a good laugh, “It looks like Ethan has found his ace boon coon, a witty and sensible kid.
I’m Ethan’s dad Jack, and this is his mother Anna.
Welcome to the Harper family!” Jack said as he walked over to give Jason a handshake.
“Thank you, my name is Jason.
I always wondered what it would be like as the child in a family with parents…” Jason said with slight emotion breaking through his voice for the first time.
“Well you don’t have to wonder anymore, you’re one of us now and no matter what we will do whatever we can to protect our own.” Jack said giving Jason a strong pat on the back causing him to cough lightly.
“I’m sorry I got in the moment and forgot you two were in here because you’re all messed up, I’ll leave you alone you guys should enjoy your food.” Jack said with his head down slightly embarrassed from his misstep.
“Haha I see where Ethan got his aloofness.” Jason said as he got out of his bed and headed towards Ethan’s side of the rooming area finally sitting on the opposite of Ethan in the bed.
Jack and Anna sat the food between the two, “your father and I have some things we want to talk about so we will be outside.
And my work is extra busy with all of this chaos so I will have to head down to the office but your father will be here with you guys it seems like more and more facilities are closing and making more restrictions, we don’t know what’s going to happen in the near future but at this rate it won’t be anything good.” Anna said before her and Jack walked out of the room.
After the two had left the room Jason and Ethan were in the room by themselves again.
“So do you have any ideas about the energy, honestly I think it’s kind of exhausting to move it around so much, but you were right it does feels like a new limb that I can control almost like a tail but inside.” Ethan said as he opened the supreme pizza box in front of him and opened a soda.
“I agree it is a bit tiring, I don’t think just moving it around is the most efficient use of this energy, maybe there are uses we don’t know yet.
I also think we should work out how we can exorcise this new limb efficiently.” Jason responded while grabbing a slice of pizza and coating it in a layer of chips before biting down.
“Maybe we can try using it while doing different things, if it really works like a new limb it should get stronger the more we use it let’s try to continue our practice while we eat and see how it goes.” Ethan said immediately coming up with a plan for them to continue their experiments.
As they are and continued their practice they noticed that no matter how much they ate they weren’t getting full like they normally would.
It was like 100% of the food they were eating while practicing the internal energy was being metabolized and converted in usable energy allowing them to continue practicing.
Surprisingly the more they moved the energy the easier it began as they had both chosen specific patterns of movement for it that felt right for them.
As Jason was taking a bite of another piece of pizza he had passed the energy through his hand which caused an in visible barrier to extend past his hand causing the pizza to float in the air.
Seeing this Ethan and Jason both froze as the first concrete results from their experiments had been seen.
“Quick we need to take detailed notes, i know I had my phone before we ran into Mr.
Z have you seen it?” Ethan quickly asked wanting to help Jason in his note taking.
“My belongings are over there so yours should be in that cabinet by the entrance.” Jason said pointing to the cabinet.
“Wait..
didn’t Mr.
Z say we shouldn’t trust anyone…
are you sure you’re okay with us sharing notes?” Ethan asked unsure how guarded Jason would be in this situation.
“It’s fine, I know he said that, but I have a feeling it’s good to trust at least one person there are a lot of benefits to a trustworthy relationship.
And besides, who’s to say the notes I share with you will be all of the information at my disposal?” Jason responded with a smug smile on his face.
“Come on don’t be like that!
Maybe we can help each other improve much faster if we aren’t stingy, you know if you let me I will tell you everything.” Ethan said punching Jason in the shoulder and slowly getting out of the bed careful not to spill anything.
He quickly found his clothes and his phone had been right where he left it surprisingly it was 15% so it was perfect for Jason and him to compile their notes into a few pages describing the movements and putting the results next to the movements.
Not long after the doctor had knocked on the door, behind the doctor was captain Aria, and his father Jack.
“You two seem to have some miraculous recovery rates, a healthy patient means I have done my job well I guess.
We will keep you one to two more days for monitoring, the earliest we will release you will probably be tomorrow.
But the captain wanted to speak with you guys with a guardian present so I will be going, if you feel any pain or discomfort inform the nurse they will be in later to get your vitals.” The doctor said before he turned to leave the room.
“I just spoke with your mother, father and the doctor and we think it’s best if you two come with us with everything that is currently going on, think of it as witness protection.” Captain Aria said causing the two boys to exchange glances.
“Don’t worry, we don’t want to experiment on you, I already explained to your parents about the recent discovery of the internal energy and additional atmospheric pressure that some people can feel and they both reported a new internal feeling like an extra limb which is actually not uncommon in anyone from the conversations and investigations the entire federal investigation unit has been running across the nation.
I shouldn’t be telling you all this because of security and confidentiality but…

Jason and Ethan exchanged glances as if having a telepathic conversation before Jason turned to look at Aria, “What you’re saying sounds like there were some people even before the event that had some type of powers and abilities and they were just covered up?
And do we really need to go with you guys?
I know it will cost some of your resources but can’t you just set up surveillance or security of some sort with all four of us?” He asked.
“We can do what you are asking but we have also already made discoveries about this internal energy we would like to teach the two of you.” Captain Aria said as she transformed her hand into a razor sharp katana.
Seeing this Jack, Jason, and Ethan’s eyes went wide amazed at seeing someone’s powers and ability first hand.
All three exchanged glances before looking back at Aria causing her to speak up again while her hand transformed back to normal.
“Don’t worry your parents have said they will also be joining you two if it is your wish to come with me to the government agency.
I can assure your safety, and all of you will be compensated as employees of the investigations unit directly under me, I also have someone preparing contracts for all of you.
It’s just in times like these it’s best for us to make as many trustworthy allies as possible because we never know when someone could be a walking time bomb.”
