“How could Elle be so selfish, she tried to hide my pups from me and now we’ve lost them!” Nelly’s eyes widened in shock and she scoffed to herself.
“Beta Rick I have things to do and cannot continue to entertain guests.” Before Rick could even reply, Kyrian stormed out of the apartment and Claire ran after him calling for him.
“You could have been a little nicer to a man who just found out he’s lost his kids.” “I could have been a lot harsher to the man who hurt my best friend, be thankful I don’t have the power to sink my claws into his eyes and render him blind for not seeing that he’s just tossed out a wonderful gem.” Rick shook his head knowing he would only argue with Nelly if this continued so he left as well.
“Kyrian don’t be sad, everything is going to be fine.” Rick could hear Claire desperately trying to comfort the alpha in her hypocritically sweet tone.
Kyrian stopped by an open terrace on that floor, his aura chaotic.
If one looked at him, one would think they were in the presence of a lost man.
Yet imperceptibly, dark veins appeared around his neck then vanished again leaving clear skin.
“Kyrian, are you listening to me?” Claire hugged him from behind.
“I killed my own blood, my own child.” Kyrian said quietly, though pain bled in his voice it wasn’t evident in his dark eyes.
“No, it’s not your fault Kyrian, this is all Avielle’s fault.
She isn’t the only pregnant woman to face a mate’s rejection, this is just proof that she was never strong enough to be Luna or to carry your heir.” “She wouldn’t have lost the pups if I didn’t reject her…” “Kyrian you should be blaming Avielle for all of this, any other man in your shoes would hate her even more for killing his pups, you should…” Rick couldn’t take it anymore, he yanked Claire backwards.
He had no respect to give to her as long as she wasn’t crowned Luna just yet.
“Enough of this, he is hurting and you’re making it all about yourself trying to show that you’re better than Luna Avielle.
He needs some time to think by himself so get the fuck out of here.” “How dare you talk to me like that, and you’re still calling that witch Luna?
Kyrian has me now, and I’ll be crowned Luna soon so you better learn to see me as one.” “You will never be a Luna, you’re not even half the woman that Luna Avielle was.
Don’t even delude yourself that…” “Enough!” Kyrian sharply commanded silencing them both.
“Leave me, both of you.” “Kyrian please, don’t turn your back on me now…” Claire said pleadingly.
“I said leave!” He turned dark eyes flashing grey, a sign of his wolf’s rage at Claire and she flinched, quickly taking several steps back.
Rick didn’t argue, walking away quietly but Claire left with sobs, hoping it would make him call her back but he didn’t.
Kyrian shut his eyes letting the dark, gloomy thoughts engulf him on the inside.
Pain, a sharp kind of pain hit him in the chest out of nowhere and he dropped to his knees, his head in his palms.
Elle…
His Elle was gone, and along with her, precious bundles of joy he would never know.
He had guards search every corner in the pack, and others stationed in the borders just to inform him if she was ever seen leaving or returning.
Her phone was no longer in use, and couldn’t be tracked, she’d probably gotten rid of it.
The alimony he’d promised her had been sitting in her bank account never touched.
She didn’t leave the country, yet she couldn’t be found, it felt like she had just vanished into thin air, not ever wanting him to find her.
‘Is it that easy to let me go, Elle?’ It had never been his desire to reject Avielle, but he’d never thought it would send her so far away from him he’d never be able to find her.
Kyrian had no idea how he’d returned to the Obsidian Tower, he knew he’d shifted at some point, knew that the first thing he did was find his stache of alcohol and drown himself in it until he began to see illusions of little children who looked just like Avielle running around him.
The illusions faded away only to be replaced by Avielle herself smiling down at him.
“Enough drinking Kyrian, you’re not a fish, are you trying to drown yourself in alcohol?” His lips pulled up in a painful smile.
He knew the Avielle in front of him was just his imagination so he didn’t dare try to touch her, she would vanish if he did.
“You left me.” He said grievously, feeling his own eyes sting and his vision slowly blurring but he blinked it away so he could continue seeing this figure of Avielle.
“You made me leave Kyrian, you cast me aside.
Do you know how painful it was to be rejected and then lose your own child?” A sharp, gut wrenching guilt welled up within him and he scrubbed a hand down his face trying to control his emotions, “I didn’t want to…” Frantic knocks suddenly interrupted him, when he looked up his conjured image of Avielle was gone.
He let himself go, eyes closing painfully before he pulled himself back to reality addressing whoever was knocking his door.
“Who is it?” “It’s me alpha, I’m here to inform you that Grand Luna and Grand Alpha have just returned.
They just landed at the airport.” Kyrian sat up instantly, his drowsy eyes sobering up instantly.
His grandparents were back already?
Fuck, it was too soon!
What would he tell them about Elle when they asked about her?
He rushed out of his office, “Call Micheal, let him know I need him to have the maids prepare dinner before they reach home, and have James go pick them up.” He instructed the staff member who had rushed over to inform him of their arrival.
He hurried down to the parking lot and got into his car.
Kyrian took over the pack as the deal stated, his grandfather handed everything to him and decided to live a leisurely life with his wife travelling across the world, from the human countries to the werewolf nations but they always looked forward to returning home for one specific reason.
Avielle.
God, they loved her and Kyrian had always known it.
His phone rang just before he pulled up into the mansion, “Michael.” He answered through the car’s receiver.
“They’re two minutes away Alpha, I’ll need you here before they arrive.” Michael, the head gamma said over the phone.
Kyrian pulled up into the driveway and hung up, getting out of his car to find Rick and Michael already waiting for him.
One of the staff drove his car away to the garage as he took his place in front of his beta and gamma just as his grandparents’ car rounded the corner.
Everyone else behind Kyrian bowed deeply as his grandparents stepped out of the car opened by the guards.
Gregory Dustwood was a man in his seventies, but due to being a werewolf he looked not much older than fifty, dressed in an impeccable black suit, his eyes trailed over the staff with approval, all of them upholding the rules, his gaze fell on his grandson and Kyrian gave him a welcoming smile he didn’t return.
His wife Tabitha Dustwood was the opposite of him, dressed elegantly in a violet dress, her hair styled in an updo, she went forward to give Kyrian a hug, “You look tired grandson, have you been overworking yourself?” “Welcome home grandma.” He said as she gave him cheek kisses as though he were still a pup.
“Hmm, I do appreciate your welcome but I don’t see Elle anywhere.
Does she know we returned already?” As expected, the first person his grandmother asked about was her.
Kyrian’s face turned pale.
