Since they had decided to go to City C, they needed to prepare well before leaving.

Food, water, and fuel were all necessary. But if they carried too much, they might get torn apart by zombies before even reaching the car.

Looking at the supplies, Zhong Tianxiang frowned. He knew how important these things were, but taking them all to the car would be difficult.Full novel: Apocalypse Plot Twist: Oops! I fell for the Side character — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

After thinking for a moment, he said,

“I’ll go out first and check the situation. If it’s safe, we’ll move the supplies to the car. If not, we’ll have to give them up.”

Mo Han quickly said,

“I’ll go with you.”

Zhong Tianxiang glanced at him calmly.

“You’re too slow.”

Mo Han: “…”

What was that obvious look of dislike?! Even if I’m a shut-in in both lives, you don’t have to show it so clearly!

In the end, Zhong Tianxiang went alone.

After he left, Mo Han felt uneasy.

Even though he knew Zhong Tianxiang had “protagonist luck,” who knew if things would change because of his transmigration? He had finally found someone strong to rely on. If Zhong Tianxiang died, he would be in big trouble.

Fortunately, his worries were unnecessary.

Zhong Tianxiang soon returned safely.

“The parking lot is relatively safe. I didn’t see any zombies. Come help me move the supplies to the elevator.”

The two of them quickly moved everything into the elevator and went down to the underground parking lot.

Just as Zhong Tianxiang said, there were no zombies there.

Mo Han quickly understood why.

The mutation happened at night, when most people were at home. Zombies couldn’t open doors, so many of them were trapped inside buildings.

But as time passed, zombies would grow stronger—and eventually break out.

Neither of them had much gasoline. Each car only had one extra tank, which wouldn’t last long. They would need to find gas stations along the way.

As for food and water, they barely had enough—the car was almost completely full.

Everything was ready.

Zhong Tianxiang drove the car straight onto the street.

As soon as the car appeared, it attracted attention from both zombies and survivors.

Several zombies rushed toward them.

Zhong Tianxiang didn’t hesitate. He drove straight forward and knocked them away.

“Help me! Please help me!”

Some survivors shouted when they saw the car, hope returning to their eyes.

But Zhong Tianxiang ignored them.

As if explaining, he said,

“I observed this morning—people who are attacked by zombies will turn into zombies too. We can’t save them.”

Mo Han nodded.

“You’re right.”

(In truth, ability users wouldn’t turn into zombies unless killed—or attacked by much stronger zombies. But Mo Han couldn’t explain that.)

Most drivers had parked their cars before falling asleep the night before.

Although there were some accidents, the roads were still passable. Aside from zombies, their journey was relatively smooth.

After entering the highway, the number of zombies decreased.

But they didn’t stay lucky for long.

Soon, the road was completely blocked.

Mo Han looked at the pile of crashed vehicles ahead.

“What do we do now? Move them? ”

There were several large trucks and cars blocking the road completely. Moving them would require a lot of effort—and their powers.

Suddenly—

Bang!

A zombie appeared beside the car and slapped the window.

“Ahh! ” Mo Han jumped in shock, hit his head on the roof, and crouched down in pain.

Zhong Tianxiang quickly drove forward and knocked the zombie away.

He said helplessly,

“Did you really have to be that scared? Good thing the car is strong, or you would’ve broken the roof.”

Mo Han almost cried.

“How could I not be scared?! If there were no glass, it would’ve grabbed me! Wait—why are you turning around? ”

Zhong Tianxiang replied,

“We’re not using the highway anymore. Even if we clear this block, there might be more ahead. It’s better to take normal roads so we can go around.”

Mo Han shrugged.

“Whatever you say.”

In the original story, they didn’t have a car when they met the female lead, and it happened much later.

So Mo Han guessed this car wouldn’t last long anyway.

Cities had dense populations, which meant more zombies and more danger.

Zhong Tianxiang carefully avoided cities and chose less crowded routes.

Luckily, before the apocalypse, Mo Han had saved a detailed national map on his phone. Otherwise, they might have gotten lost.

City C was very far from their current city. They even had to cross a province. It would take more than a day to get there.

As night fell, they arrived at a small town.

Zhong Tianxiang looked at the darkening sky.

“It’s too dangerous to travel at night. Let’s find a place to rest.”

Mo Han nodded.

Sunlight weakened zombies. At night, zombies became stronger, so traveling was risky.

They stopped the car and made sure the area was safe.

Then they entered a nearby supermarket with an open door.

Carefully, they checked every corner.

There were only two or three zombies inside, which they easily killed.

After that, they blocked all entrances to prevent zombies from coming in while they slept.

At night, they didn’t dare turn on the lights, afraid it would attract zombies.

Under the faint moonlight coming through the windows, they sat by the shelves, quietly eating bread.

Luckily, it was a small supermarket, so they still had plenty of food.

After a while, Mo Han suddenly asked,

“Tianxiang… do you think we can survive? ”

Being suddenly thrown into this terrifying world, Mo Han felt lost about the future.

Sometimes, when he thought about it, he even felt like giving up hope.

Zhong Tianxiang smiled lightly and said,

“Of course we will survive. We’ll live well. Go to sleep—we have to travel tomorrow.”

Mo Han shook his head.

“I hope so.”

But even lying on the supermarket floor, he couldn’t fall asleep.
