More than a dozen vehicles were jammed together in complete disarray.

Some had crashed into the guardrails, some had overturned, and some were stuck nose to nose in the middle of the road, blocking the entire four lane road in both directions.

No matter how sturdy the business vehicle was, it could not break through a mess like this.Full novel: Apocalypse Side Character: Her Devoted Bodyguard Turns Out to Be the Zombie Emperor — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Beichuan poked his head out and sucked in a breath.

“Oh no. How did it get this badly blocked?”

Song Shiyu frowned as he analyzed the situation.

“People in the city center must have tried to leave, but they ran into zombies on the way and crashed into each other in panic. Those who got out and tried to escape… probably became zombies too.”

Sure enough, there were dark red bloodstains all over the vehicles blocking the road. The windows were shattered, the doors were open, yet there was no sign of anyone.

At that moment, bad news also came from the rearview mirror.

Behind them, more and more vehicles were pouring onto this road leading out of the city.

They were all survivors trying to escape the urban area, one vehicle after another, their horns blaring incessantly.

Even more frighteningly, the zombies attracted by the sound of the engines were staggering toward them from all directions. They were densely packed together, forming a dark and overwhelming mass.

They were trapped from both sides.

Song Xingci gritted his teeth.

“Chuman, I will protect you while we get out. Use your space to move the vehicles blocking the road.”

Shen Chuman’s face instantly went pale, and even her lips began to tremble.

“Get, get out? I am so scared… Xingci, I am really scared.”

Song Xingci gently persuaded her.

“Chuman, do not worry. I will protect you. I have a supernatural ability. I will not let those disgusting things touch you.”

Shen Chuman bit her lip, her eyes red and watery as she looked utterly pitiful.

Song Xingci pulled her tightly into his arms.

“Do you not believe in me anymore?”

Shen Chuman suddenly raised her head. Tears glimmered in her eyes, but her voice became firm.

“I believe you! For everyone’s sake, I am willing to get out and take the risk!”

She tightly held Song Xingci’s hand, her voice trembling slightly.

“I also believe you will protect me and make sure I do not get hurt!”

The two looked into each other’s eyes, overflowing with affection, almost as if they were about to share a passionate kiss.

Wen Chu sat in the front passenger seat, her teeth almost aching from watching them.

They were acting as though they were facing life and death itself. Anyone who did not know better would think the road outside was filled with mountains of blades and seas of fire.

She quietly moved her fingers, intending to use her old method.

She would control the strands of dust and move the vehicles blocking the road.

No one would notice anyway. She could do it without making a sound.

Suddenly, there was movement beside her.

Qin Yu raised his right hand without changing his expression.

His five fingers spread open.

With a dull bang, the small car at the very front of the blockage suddenly shifted sideways as though an invisible giant hand had grabbed it. The entire vehicle was thrown into the roadside greenery with a loud crash.

The second vehicle, the third, the fourth…

One vehicle after another was flung away, rolling through the air like toys before landing on both sides of the road.

Beichuan was the first to react. He was so excited that he almost jumped out of his seat.

“Qin Yu! When did you awaken your supernatural ability?”

His eyes lit up, and he even whistled.

“Wow! And it is the metal type I like most!”

Metal manipulation was absolutely a top tier supernatural ability in the apocalypse.

It provided attack, defense, and control, with virtually no weakness.

Wen Chu abruptly turned toward Qin Yu.

The man remained expressionless. His broad palm controlled several tons of vehicles from a distance, sending them tumbling through the air like toys.

The lines of his profile were as hard as though they had been carved by a knife, and even his eyelashes barely moved.

“Just now.”

He said it calmly, as though he were simply saying that the weather was nice today.

Wen Chu’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.

The original novel had never mentioned that the original owner’s bodyguard was a metal type supernatural ability user.

The others in the vehicle had never encountered a metal type ability user before, so they did not understand the significance.

But she did.

What newly awakened metal type ability user could move more than a dozen vehicles right after awakening?

A person who had just awakened a supernatural ability would have mental power as weak as a thread that could snap at any moment. Being able to control a single dagger would already be impressive.

But Qin Yu?

More than a dozen vehicles, all moved at once and precisely thrown to both sides of the road, without even touching a single streetlight.

How did that look like someone who had just awakened?

This was clearly an expert.

A narrow passage had been cleared ahead, just wide enough for the business vehicle to pass through.

Qin Yu lowered his hand and stepped on the accelerator.

The business vehicle moved like a black fish, precisely slipping through the narrow opening.

Overturned vehicles lay on both sides, while a huge mass of zombies surged in from the distance. The zombies stretched out their rotten arms and released hoarse cries, but all they could do was watch helplessly as the business vehicle sped away.

Behind them, a commotion erupted among the vehicles.

Those people had seen the business vehicle move the other vehicles without anyone touching them, and their eyes immediately lit up.

They knew there had to be a supernatural ability user inside.

For a moment, the vehicles behind them began honking desperately, one after another following closely behind. No one wanted to be left behind.

Qin Yu glanced at them through the rearview mirror and pressed the accelerator deeper without changing his expression.

The business vehicle accelerated and opened up a distance from the convoy behind them.

Once the vehicle smoothly left the city center, the tall buildings on both sides gradually gave way to scattered low houses.

Wen Chu reached out and pressed a button.

A black partition silently rose, separating the driver’s compartment from the rear seats.

Whatever the people in the front were doing or saying, those in the back could no longer hear.

Wen Chu leaned against the seat and turned to look at Qin Yu.

“How long have you been following me?”

Qin Yu kept his eyes on the road ahead and answered steadily.

“Five years.”

Five years.

That was not a short time.

No wonder that when there had finally been a signal earlier, she had received a message from Wen Chu’s father.

“Stay close to Qin Yu. Return to Jing City as quickly as possible. Do not worry about or trust anyone else.”

Wen Chu asked, “Why did you not follow me upstairs last night?”

That was what she found strangest.

A bodyguard who had followed the original owner for five years, a bodyguard deeply trusted by the Wen family, had actually allowed their beloved daughter to go to a club alone.

And that was a place filled with all kinds of people.

Moreover, the apocalypse had descended in the early hours of the morning, yet this man had remained safely inside the vehicle the entire time.

No matter how she thought about it, something felt wrong.

Qin Yu finally turned his head and gave her a strange look.

There was a trace of helplessness in his eyes, as though he wanted to say something but did not know how.

“Miss, you said last night… that you had something important to take care of.”

His tone paused in a rather peculiar way.

“You told me not to interfere with anything and to stay in the vehicle and wait, so it would be convenient for you to escape at any time.”

He paused, then repeated her exact words without missing a single one.

“You even said that even if the sky fell, the earth exploded, or the apocalypse arrived, you would not allow me to leave the vehicle.”

Wen Chu: “…”

She remained silent for a full minute.

That really did sound like something the original owner would say.

The original owner had been preparing to drug Song Xingci. After succeeding, she had planned to secretly slip away so that the male lead would have no chance to retaliate.

So the original owner actually knew how much Song Xingci hated her.

But if she knew, why had she insisted on drugging him and sleeping with him?

Could she not have chosen someone else?

Wen Chu rubbed her temples and silently lit a candle for the original owner in her heart.

Qin Yu glanced at her through the rearview mirror.

“Miss, is there anything else you want to ask?”

Wen Chu was stunned.

“Why do you ask that?”

Qin Yu’s tone remained calm.

“You used to forget my name all the time. You could not remember the other bodyguards either. I am already used to it.”

Wen Chu: “…”

The original owner’s entire mind had been occupied by Song Xingci. Aside from the male lead, she did not care about anyone else.

Forget her bodyguards’ names. She probably could not even remember her own parents’ phone numbers properly.

But this was actually convenient.

No matter what she asked, no one would suspect anything.

After all, who would blame the original owner for forgetting things when her eyes had always been filled with nothing but the male lead?

Wen Chu leaned against the seat and closed her eyes.

But she had not lowered her suspicion of Qin Yu by even the slightest amount.

A person who had never appeared in the original novel.

A man who claimed to have just awakened a metal type ability, yet could move more than a dozen vehicles in one go.

A man whose entire presence was completely unlike that of an ordinary bodyguard.

Who exactly was he?

When had his supernatural ability actually awakened?

Most importantly…

Did he have any hostility toward her?

Wen Chu quietly opened one eye and glanced at the figure in the driver’s seat.

The man sat upright, both hands firmly holding the steering wheel. His shoulders and back were broad, like a silent wall.

Everything could wait until they returned to Jing City.

As long as she continued maintaining the persona of a spoiled young lady, there should not be any major problems.

Even so, she still sent a message to Wen Chu’s father.

“Is Qin Yu trustworthy? Who exactly is he?”
