"Here’s some savory congee. Have some, and then get some rest."

Qin Zhicheng poured the congee from the thermos into an aluminum mess tin.

Su Yun looked at the thick congee. The savory aroma of egg tantalized her taste buds.

Once she smelled it, the hunger became overwhelming.

She sat up and was about to get out of bed when Qin Zhicheng stopped her. "You can’t get out of bed during postpartum confinement. Just drink it like that."

He didn’t have any experience with it himself, but he’d heard about it from others.

Su Yun paused for a moment, then silently took the bowl of congee—she had to admit, it smelled and tasted wonderful.

Qin Zhicheng didn’t leave. He looked at Su Yun.

"I’ve already applied for family housing. It should be approved soon. Once I’ve cleaned it up, we can move in tonight."

Su Yun thought it was an acceptable plan.

After all, staying in this dorm room wasn’t very convenient.

’Besides, I’ve already brought up divorce, and he’s refusing.’

’I’ll just have to wait until my confinement period is over to figure out what to do next.’

’In this life, I’m going to prioritize my health—if no one else in this world loves me, then the first thing I must learn is to love myself.’

"Okay!"

Qin Zhicheng was a little surprised by her crisp, immediate agreement.

But the fact that she didn’t mention the word "divorce" was a huge relief.

Just then, Instructor Xie’s voice rang out from outside. "Old Qin, come out for a second! Your housing got special approval."

Hearing this, Qin Zhicheng turned to Su Yun and said, "Just put the mess tin aside when you’re done. I’m going to check on the house and do some cleaning and organizing. I might be back a little late."

"Oh, and don’t get out of bed."

With that, he turned and walked out.

Instructor Xie had been hesitant to go inside, so he waited outside.

When he saw Qin Zhicheng emerge, he spoke quickly, "The leadership gave it special approval as soon as they heard your wife arrived. Come on, I’ll take you to see it."

"I had the leadership pick out the biggest courtyard for you. It has land in the front and back, the house itself is large, and there’s a well. There are no vacancies in the apartment buildings right now, so your wife will have to make do."

He knew that military families usually preferred the apartment buildings over these low, single-story houses.

The two of them arrived at the family housing area as they spoke.

Instructor Xie opened the main gate. "Here we are. If you’re okay with it, I’ll call a group of men over to help you clean and fix it up."

Qin Zhicheng glanced around. The courtyard was overgrown with weeds and looked a bit dilapidated.

But the structure and layout of the house were good.

"This is the one."

He agreed so decisively that Instructor Xie had a thought. "Shouldn’t you ask your wife first?"

"No need."

Instructor Xie: ...?

’He really needs to work on that temper of his. Who could put up with that?’

"Alright, I’ll go get some people."

He was quick to round up help.

In less than ten minutes, he had brought over a dozen men.

When everyone heard they were doing work for Mr. Qin, they were all incredibly enthusiastic.

In just three hours, the once dilapidated little courtyard was completely transformed.

They not only built an outhouse,

but also set up a simple shower room.

The kitchen was also given a fresh coat of paint.

Qin Zhicheng, however, hadn’t participated in the work. He had driven off the base and into town to do some major shopping—

When he returned, everyone had already left except for Instructor Xie.

"Old Qin, what do you think? Are you satisfied?"

"Not bad," Qin Zhicheng nodded.

"As long as you’re satisfied, that’s all that matters." Then, Instructor Xie pulled a wad of cash from his pocket. "This is for your wife, to help her recuperate. Consider it my wedding gift to you."

Qin Zhicheng accepted it without ceremony and stuffed it directly into his pocket.
