Doudou sneaked into the study like a little cat. Once inside, still feeling uneasy, he tiptoed back to the door to check on things, and upon seeing that both the cameraman and his big brother were downstairs with no one paying attention to him, he patted his little chest, closed the door, and let out a much more relaxed sigh.
Little did he know, however, that there was also a security camera installed in this study.
The viewers in the live stream swiftly switched their positions, flooding over to this usually quiet sub-stream.
Here they come, squeeze in. Squeeze in, auntie is here to see Doudou. Wow, why are there so many people all of a sudden? I originally just came in to see what Doudou’s dad’s study looked like, but in the blink of an eye there are so many people here. I thought something happened. Hehehe, Doudou is over here.
With his hands on his hips, the little fellow thought to himself that if there was any place in the house full of money, it had to be his dad’s study.
After all, he had seen plenty of red hundred-yuan bills before.
The little fellow dropped onto the floor first, wriggling forward like a little caterpillar. Just as the viewers were left completely baffled, they watched Doudou let out a cheeky giggle.
Then, he hauled out a small iron box it was tiny, flat, and tucked right underneath the study desk, completely hidden from ordinary view.
The moment Bai Yishan saw Doudou crawl down there, his breathing instantly tightened and his scalp went numb. He didn’t dare look toward the left side of his field of vision anymore.
He simply didn’t dare face his wife’s death stare.
Staring at that small iron box, Qin Yue gritted her teeth and said, “You’d better give me a good explanation. Did I cut your allowance short? Or am I some kind of fierce tiger? Did you really have to go to this length?”
She reckoned the surrounding neighbors probably all thought she was a tyrant by now.
Qin Yue massaged her brow.
Now, she even started hoping the little cub would hurry up and get out of that study.
“Look at the fine mess you’ve made!” The more Qin Yue thought about it, the angrier she got, and she gave Bai Yishan’s waist a sharp pinch.
Bai Yishan winced and put on an exaggeratedly pained expression, which coaxed a sudden snort of laughter out of Qin Yue. “I’ll settle accounts with you when we get back.”
They had been married for over twenty years, and their relationship had always been exceptionally good.
Besides, she believed that the amount of hidden private money Doudou was unearthing would turn out to be quite small.
Truth be told, Bai Yishan just enjoyed the thrill of getting caught red-handed by her whenever she happened to discover his secret stashes.
With a pitiful expression, Bai Yishan wrapped his arms around his wife’s waist. “In these past few years, all you’ve had eyes for is Doudou. You haven’t cared about me at all, and you didn’t even know I was stashing away secret money.”
Qin Yue’s lips twitched. Good grief, in Bai Yishan’s mind, hiding private money somehow became her fault now.
Giving him a disdainful shove, Qin Yue pushed him away. “Alright, stop blocking my view of Doudou.”
Refusing to budge, Bai Yishan just held onto Qin Yue tightly. “We’ll watch together. I won’t block your view.”
Qin Yue shot him a sharp side-glance, though a smile lingered at the corners of her lips the moment she looked away.
Out of his wife’s line of sight, Bai Yishan also let out a long breath of relief.
Thank goodness he was quick-witted enough to muddle his way through.
Even if it wasn’t a massive fortune, how could a married man not stash away a little private cash? Otherwise, when he went out drinking with his wealthy CEO friends later on, he wouldn’t even have any material to brag about like how his wife kept him on a tight leash because she cared so deeply about him.
If a man didn’t have any hidden money and relied solely on what his wife gave him, it meant his wife simply didn’t care about him anymore, and he had better watch his step.
Bai Yishan calculated his little schemes secretly in his heart.
However, toward Doudou who had just thrown him completely off guard on a live broadcast he gnashed his teeth in secret, vowing to give that little rascal a good spanking on the bottom as soon as they got home.
That was an adult’s study; little toddlers weren’t allowed to waltz in whenever they pleased.
Doudou skillfully popped open the iron box and dumped all the cash inside onto the floor.
“Aiyo, so many money-monies! This should be enough.” Raising his little hand, Doudou tried to calculate the total, but his brain ended up feeling completely overloaded, making him shake his little head.
He muttered under his breath, “Doudou can’t count it clearly.”
Sigh, counting numbers was so hard, and recognizing characters was even harder.
The box was filled with coins of all sizes, but judging by Doudou’s rough visual estimate, it should be more than enough.
Doudou scooped all the cash back into the box, looking immensely pleased with his little metal container.
Just as he was about to leave, however, he had a nagging feeling of doubt. While this pile might be plenty, he was planning to make a massive, heavyweight financial splash, after all.
The viewers were completely charmed by Doudou’s nonstop self-talk.
What an obedient baby, he can even count! Doudou is so amazing. Cough cough, it looked like Doudou almost counted himself into a daze just now, and ultimately gave up and dumped everything back in. Hahaha, that’s identical to me when I’m solving math problems; my brain is about to explode. Help, no wonder I find Doudou so endearing it’s that telepathic connection between academic slackers. What on earth is Doudou plotting? Is this still not enough? But I feel like your dad is already on his way back to spank your little bottom. Lol, I feel like Doudou is not far away from getting a beating. This must all be Dad’s secret stash money, hahaha. Doudou holds back absolutely nothing when it comes to throwing his dad under the bus.
Just as everyone was shouting that it was already more than enough, Doudou finally made up his mind to take all of his dad’s hidden private funds along with him.
He lowered his chubby little bottom and crawled back down. This time, viewers instinctively zoomed in on their screens, eager to catch the exact hiding spots of those secret stashes.
Reaching into a dark corner, Doudou dragged out two books, coughing twice from the dust: “Cough, cough!”
These must have been the layers of dust his dad had intentionally spread to cover his tracks; Doudou had spotted something fishy at a single glance earlier.
Only a big dummy like his dad would believe no one else could spot the abnormality.
Throwing the top books aside, he expertly flipped open the first page of the very last book and peeled off an envelope that had been glued directly onto the inside cover.
After that, he shoved the book right back into its spot.
Doudou dumped out another batch of cash another massive haul added to his pile.
From then on, acting like a foraging little hamster, Doudou dug up every single bit of his dad’s pocket money hidden across all the various nooks and crannies of the room.
Not only were the viewers left gaping in utter astonishment, but even Bai Yishan himself was completely dumbfounded. How,how on earth did Doudou know about these?!
Some of those spots were places he had stashed cash two or three years ago; if Doudou hadn’t dug them up, he wouldn’t even have remembered there was money hiding there.
Watching his wife’s expression grow increasingly dark, Bai Yishan felt an urge to drag the little fellow out and tan his hide.
Giving up on hugging Qin Yue, he scrambled over to sit far away on the other end of the sofa, putting on an air of righteous indignation. “That stinky Doudou! Who knows where he learned to rummage through things like this? I’ll teach him a proper lesson when we get home. Stop being angry, honey.”
Qin Yue replied, “If you dare lay a single finger on him, just try it. And don’t you dare show your face in my line of sight right now.”
Qin Yue felt like Bai Yishan had been playing her for a fool this whole time. Private stash money was hidden everywhere in plain sight around the study, yet she had visited that room countless times without ever noticing anything amiss.
She felt like Doudou wasn’t just looting his dad’s wallet he was holding up a mirror to show just how completely blind she had been.
How could those spots be so obvious, yet she had never caught on once?
Shortly after, Qin Yue found herself pulled into a high-society wives’ chat group filled with numerous wealthy socialites.
Welcome Xiao Yue, hurry and say hi! Welcome, welcome! We all watched Doudou’s live stream today, Xiao Yue you’ve still been trusting men way too much after all these years. Us sisters are going to teach you a few tricks on how to keep your husband in line over the next few days. Don’t worry, once we finish training you, we guarantee President Bai won’t ever dare hide private money again. Exactly, exactly! You really were just trusting men way too blindly.
Qin Yue: No she didn’t! She had no such thing!
Qin Yue considered herself to possess at least a modest amount of savvy; otherwise, her relationship with Bai Yishan wouldn’t have been good enough to warrant having a second child like Doudou.
Yet, after going through this crash course, Qin Yue realized she was still far too naive.
That very evening, Bai Yishan found himself locked out of the bedroom door.
The stinky man could scram; she still had “husband-taming strategies” to discuss with her good girlfriends.
Doudou poured all the money onto the rug, piling it into a veritable little hill.
Stretching out his small hand to measure it, he nodded with deep satisfaction. This amount was definitely more than enough.
Doudou thought to himself with a smug sense of delight that if Xie Xiran saw all this cash, there was no telling how shocked he would be.
At that point, he would surely abandon Shushu for the sake of the money.
Hehehehe~
After all, Doudou loved these little cash-monies himself; who knew how many lollipops he could buy with them?
Whenever Doudou wanted candy but was forbidden by his mom from eating any, he would come over to his dad’s place to forage for money to buy sweets.
However, the kind older girl selling the candy always gave it to him for free anyway, so unable to spend his cash, he ended up dropping it into his pet dog’s food bowl instead.
The dog was far too pitiful, tied up outside all day long and still forced to beg using its own bowl.
At least, that was how things were portrayed in TV dramas, and those bowls looked identical to the dog’s bowl.
Dog: ?
The most crucial part of his grand objective was now fully prepared, and Doudou finally felt a wave of relief.
Wiggling his little body happily, he suddenly heard the study door behind him click open.
Bai Shu had been staying downstairs the whole time, but as time dragged on without a single sign of Doudou, an overwhelming wave of unease had crept into his heart.
As the saying goes, when a child is dead silent, they are bound to be up to no good.
Thinking this, Bai Shu couldn’t sit still for another second, his mind conjuring up all sorts of catastrophic scenarios where Doudou got himself into trouble or wrecked something.
Bursting into Doudou’s room only to find the little fellow missing, his sense of ominous foreboding grew twice as intense.
He finally tracked the kid down to the study, panting heavily as he threw the door open. “What are you doing?”
Doudou whipped around in sheer terror, instinctively throwing his entire weight backward to flatten himself over the pile of cash. The bills looked tall, but they were mostly a loose, fluffy stack.
With a soft plop, the little fellow sprawled flat on the floor.
Pushing the door open further and stepping inside, Bai Shu glared suspiciously at the mischievous child. “What are you do—? Doudou—! Where did you get all this money?!”
Shocked, Bai Shu scooped up the struggling child by his waist, pointing a trembling finger at the flattened heap of paper currency on the floor.
A moment later, he calmed down slightly. “Did Dad hide this?”
Guiltily twiddling his fingers, Doudou mumbled, “Dad hid it too obviously.”
Back in his hotel room, Bai Yishan spat out a mouthful of metaphorical blood. He had tucked those bills all the way behind the back panel of the cabinet, and the little munchkin had still crawled all the way inside to fish them out!
Was he supposed to take the blame for that?
Drawing in a sharp breath of air, Bai Shu declared, “Doudou, you’ve earned yourself a couple of thrashings for sure.”
Doudou: !?
Why?! Wasn’t it just because Dad was terrible at hiding things?
Otherwise, Doudou would never have been able to find them in the first place!
Doudou felt so wronged!
