As I walked out of the university, I saw a boy push a girl.
I quickly went closer.
Then I noticed that it was Chloe.
By the time I reached her, the boy had already left, so I couldn’t see who he was.
“Are you okay?” I asked.
The moment I approached her, I noticed tears forming in her eyes.
I gently held her hand.
“Let’s go,” I said.
She followed me.
She was quiet the entire way.
I felt very sad for her.
I wished I could punch that boy.
Anger rushed through me as I thought about what he had done to Chloe.
Soon, we reached her house.
It was the first time I had ever come to her house.
Her house looked luxurious.
I knocked on the door.
A middle-aged woman opened the door.
For a moment, I thought she might be Chloe’s mother.
As her eyes fell on Chloe, she frowned.
“What happened?” she asked worriedly.
“Nothing,” Chloe replied before walking straight to her room.
I followed her.
As we entered her room, she turned toward me.
“Thank you,” she said softly.
I gave her a small smile.
“Friends don’t say thank you.” A sad smile appeared on her face as she looked at me.
“I’m sorry, Sophia,” she said quietly.
“I left you alone at the moment you needed me the most.” “I was just worried about you.” “I didn’t want you to get into trouble.
That’s why I warned you,” she said.
“But when I found out that you were still messing with them, I was very angry at you.” “I understand,” I said.
“I know you were worried about me.” “And I am very happy that you are finally talking to me again.” I said with a bright smile.
“Can you promise me that even if you are very angry at me, you will scold me as much as you want, but you will not stop talking to me?” I asked.
A smile appeared on her face as she listened to me.
“Okay, promise,” she said while hugging me.
After pulling away from the hug, she turned toward me with a small smile.
We stayed quiet for a moment.
I wasn’t sure if I should ask her about what happened earlier or not.
As if she understood what I was thinking, she spoke.
“I really liked that guy, so I thought I should confess my feelings to him.
But he doesn’t feel the same way,” she said sadly.
I felt angry hearing that.
If he didn’t feel the same way, that was okay.
But how could he push her like that?
“Maybe I shouldn’t have gone after him,” she said softly.
“It’s okay.
You deserve someone much better than him,” I said, trying to lighten her mood.
But it didn’t work.
She was still quiet.
“Let’s watch a movie together,” I suggested after a few moments of silence.
“Okay,” she replied with a small smile.
“Well, why don’t you call your mom to join us?” I suggested.
Her smile faded a little.
“She is out of the city because of work,” she said.
“She rarely stays with me.” “The lady who opened the door was a servant my mom hired to take care of me.” “Oh,” I said softly.
How silly of me.
I was making her more sad instead of making her happy.
We then started watching a movie together.
We were watching the movie peacefully when Chloe laughed at one of the scenes.
Seeing her smile made me feel relieved.
To be honest, the movie was very funny.
As the movie went on, she seemed calmer and a little happier.
I opened my eyes only to find Chloe sleeping beside me.
When did I fall asleep?
I checked the time.
It was 9:30.
I panicked.
I had completely forgotten to inform my parents.
I quickly texted them that I was at my friend’s house.
Soon, Chloe opened her eyes.
“What happened?” she asked after seeing my face.
“Nothing,” I replied.
Her phone suddenly started buzzing with notifications.
She picked it up and checked it.
She then turned her phone off and put it aside.
“What happened?” I asked.
“Nothing.
There is a party today,” she said casually.
“Oh, so are you going?” I asked.
“No, I don’t want to go,” she said.
“I think you should go and enjoy yourself.
Forget about everything for a while.” She thought for a moment.
“Okay, but I will go only if you come with me,” she said.
“I’m not sure if I should go,” I replied in confusion.
“If you don’t go, then I won’t go either.” Listening to her, I finally agreed with a sigh.
She stood up and walked toward her wardrobe.
After looking through it for a few moments, she took out two beautiful dresses.
“This one would look good on you,” she said.
“Go and change into this.” She handed me the dress with a smile.
