Wen Zhi returned backstage, one hand pressed against her left chest—thump-thump-thump—it just wouldn’t stop racing!

What was going on?!

“No, Wen Zhi, look at this guy—he already has someone, yet he still flirts with others so casually. He’s clearly no good! Snap out of it, absolutely can’t be fooled by that face of his!”Full novel: Cherished Deeply, Gently Doted On — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She muttered to herself.

The oblivious Young Master Su: “???” Such a big hat you’re putting on me?”

Meanwhile, Su Wenjing, still in the VIP seats, gazed at the now-empty stage, lost in thought.

Song Bojian beside him nudged him with an elbow and whispered, “Hey, what are you spacing out for?”

It was the first time he’d seen Su Wenjing so absent-minded.

Su Wenjing snapped back to reality and said flatly, “It’s nothing.”

However, as the skit performances continued on stage, he found them increasingly dull. Casually brushing his sleeve, he raised a hand and said with an indifferent expression, “You watch. I’m going out for a smoke.”

With that, regardless of Song Bojian’s reaction, he strode out, leaving Song Bojian sitting there bewildered before he caught on and cursed angrily, “Su Wenjing, you bastard! You didn’t even warm the seat before sneaking off!”

“If you can still come back after going out, I’ll take your surname!”

But all that answered him was Su Wenjing’s dismissive wave as he walked away.

Night had fallen, and the auditorium hall was brightly lit, yet compared to the bustling audience seats, the corridor felt especially quiet. Having just finished a physically demanding dance performance, Wen Zhi was now starving, her stomach practically touching her back.

Remembering she still had some makeup on her face, she hurried to the dressing room and quickly removed it. She changed out of her costume, put on her own clothes, gathered her things, and headed out.

Not forgetting the milk Li Yue had given her, she drank it as she walked, hoping it would at least soothe her loudly protesting stomach.

Head bowed, she stared at her phone screen, fingers swiping quickly as she browsed through the messages she’d just received.

She didn’t notice that at the end of the corridor, a figure was leaning against the wall, leisurely smoking.

Su Wenjing was tall, his dark hair lightly tousled by the breeze, his face sharply defined with a hint of untamed wildness. At that moment, his eyes were closed as he savored a moment of peace.

Neither of them expected to run into each other. Wen Zhi assumed everyone was basically still in the audience seats, so she relaxed and became engrossed in her phone.

Su Wenjing heard someone approaching but didn’t open his eyes, not expecting the other person to walk straight into him.

By the time Wen Zhi realized she had bumped into a human wall, it was too late.

She jerked her head up, panic flashing in her eyes. The milk bottle slipped from her hand, spilling onto Su Wenjing’s shirt. She quickly apologized, “Sorry, sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going.”

Su Wenjing opened his eyes and saw the flustered girl before him. Quick-witted, he swiftly turned the cigarette in his hand to avoid the ash falling onto Wen Zhi.

Even so, his shirt was now soaked with a patch of milk.

He frowned but quickly regained his composure.

However, when he realized who the person in front of him was, he couldn’t help but feel—fate, huh?

“Little junior, no need to get so excited when you see your senior.” His words carried a teasing tone, spoken softly as if deliberately trying to provoke her.

Wen Zhi looked up and found herself gazing into a pair of dark eyes that seemed to hold a hint of amusement.

Her face flushed instantly, a mix of embarrassment and irritation, and even her voice took on a slightly flustered tone. Yet, to Su Wenjing’s ears, her gentle, soft voice sounded rather pleasant.

“Senior, too much confidence is just narcissism!”

Well, she got him there.

Su Wenjing slowly lowered his head, his gaze fixed on the flawless, porcelain-like face before him, and a flicker of interest sparked within him. “You little thing, why are you so easily teased?”

After hearing his words, Wen Zhi didn’t respond immediately. Instead, she stared straight at him for a long moment before slowly saying, “Senior, as someone with a girlfriend, isn’t it a bit… trashy to flirt with another junior like this?”

Su Wenjing, who had been casually teasing her with a nonchalant expression, couldn’t help but freeze at her words.

As if unable to believe it, he pointed a slender, well-defined finger at his own face. “Who, a girlfriend? Me?” he asked, pointing at himself.

Wen Zhi nodded seriously. “Well, you were buying sanitary pads at the supermarket. Surely you weren’t buying them for yourself, right?”

As soon as she finished speaking, she seemed to glance at him inadvertently.

It probably wasn’t a gender transition, right?

Admittedly, her reasoning made sense.

However, after Wen Zhi finished speaking, she heard Su Wenjing let out a short, low chuckle. Then, he stared at her intently, his tone lazy.

“Little girl, having a sense of boundaries is a good thing, but is it possible that I was buying those for my mom?” he said.

Wen Zhi widened her eyes, listening to the man’s words, her expression clearly conveying: Wow, what’s wrong with this person? Not only does he refuse to admit he has a girlfriend, but he even drags his mom into it as an excuse!

Su Wenjing let out a mocking laugh, having seen right through her little thoughts, as if finding it somewhat amusing that his words weren’t trusted.

He didn’t know why he was being so serious about this.

His dark eyes glanced at Wen Zhi before he leisurely took out his phone from his pocket, opened his contacts, found the culprit in question, and dialed. Soon, the call was answered.

“What’s up, son?” Ms. Wang’s puzzled voice echoed in the quiet hallway.

“Nothing, just someone doesn’t believe I was buying sanitary pads for my own mom. I’m calling you for verification.” As he said this, Su Wenjing kept his gaze fixed on the shocked little face of a certain someone.

Upon hearing this, Wang Wenci couldn’t help but chuckle and replied, “Haha, yes, you were buying them for me. But have you already found me a daughter-in-law so quickly?”

Last time, my son was just making assumptions, and now he’s asking for an explanation?!

Something’s going on!

Having gotten what he wanted, Su Wenjing was satisfied. “You’re overthinking it. Nothing’s going on. I’m hanging up now.”

As soon as the call ended, Wen Zhi suddenly looked up at him, her eyes darting around nervously.

Looking at the guilty person before him, Su Wenjing deliberately brought up the sore subject. “Satisfied now? Am I still a trashy guy?”

Knowing she had wronged him, Wen Zhi now had no confidence at all. She hung her head meekly, not daring to look at him.

“Senior, I’m sorry.”

“But even though you’re not a trashy guy, you’re definitely a filial son, really!”

Wen Zhi seemed to think a lighthearted apology lacked sincerity, so she added a compliment afterward—though, of course, she considered it a compliment.

Su Wenjing quietly watched her for two seconds before smiling. “Right now, I can’t quite tell whether you’re praising me or insulting me.”
