A good night’s sleep left her feeling incredibly refreshed. When Su Yi woke up, the cave was still pitch black. She checked her watch—it was only eight o’clock, quite early.
Su Yi quickly tidied herself up, grabbed a carton of milk, and walked outside.
Looking out, the morning sunbeams gently filtered through the mountain forest, making Su Yi feel as though she had stepped into a fairyland. However, the sudden intrusion of a small bird broke this beautiful scene. Its crisp chirping shattered the silence of the woods. It also brought Su Yi back to her senses; she was here to explore and find treasures.
Su Yi gulped down her milk in a few mouthfuls and began her busy search for treasure. Today, she swapped the trekking pole in her hand for a shovel. She wanted to find a good spot to dig a pit trap to see which “genius” animal would move into the big house she specially prepared.
Walking deeper into the forest, Su Yi’s eyes darted constantly through the trees, calculating where to find a suitable spot to dig a trap and catch some game.
Before long, she found a great spot. On a narrow path, the grass looked frequently trampled, indicating it was likely a regular route for wild beasts.
Su Yi first used a hoe to dig a large, square pit in the ground. Then, she drove some ready-made iron spikes from her storage space into the bottom of the pit. She climbed out of the deep hole, which was as tall as she was, and cleverly concealed it with grass and leaves. In her eyes, it was a flawless trap.
After finishing this, Su Yi followed the same pattern and set up several more traps nearby, drinking spiritual spring water to replenish her strength whenever she got tired. Eventually, she became more and more proficient. It couldn’t be helped—she loved reading Tomato Web Novels and watching Apple Short Dramas in her spare time, so she had quietly mastered these steps down to a science.
After setting the traps, Su Yi decided not to venture too far today. She would just look around the vicinity of the cave to see if she could harvest anything. She walked forward aimlessly, but her eyes were glued to the ground, refusing to miss any valuable wild vegetables or medicinal herbs.
Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, the blazing sun was high in the sky. Su Yi hurriedly raised her arm to check her watch. It was a bit off, so she quickly adjusted it right to twelve o’clock sharp.
Looking up at the sky, there wasn’t a single cloud. She needed to find a shady spot to rest and eat lunch. After all, she hadn’t eaten much this morning and was already starving.
Su Yi found a large tree. Sitting under it was cool and extremely comfortable! Having found her spot, she followed her old routine: setting up her table, chairs, and stools to start lunch.
On the table sat a cup of milk tea, a plate of braised appetizers, and a roasted chicken. Looking at the food, Su Yi’s mouth began to water. “It smells so good!” Taking a bite of meat followed by a sip of milk tea, Su Yi felt a profound sense of happiness.
After finishing her meal, Su Yi lay back in her chair and thought to herself: running around the mountains every day, digging like crazy, and walking endlessly… was she just making herself suffer for no reason? After all, her pocket dimension had everything.
“Sigh~ Well, since I’m already here, I might as well work hard! Back then, working myself to death every day only brought in that tiny fixed salary. Now, as long as I find good stuff, I have a chance to make big money. Deep mountains hold many dangers, but also many opportunities. Besides, if I run into danger, I can just hide in my space!”
“Then let’s roll up our sleeves and work hard! Since I’m already here! I want to become the richest person!” Su Yi pumped herself up with another dose of adrenaline. After speaking, she felt a bit dry, so she immediately took a sip of the sweet milk tea.
Su Yi rested for quite a while, not moving again until the sun was less fierce. During this time, because she had slept so well last night, she wasn’t sleepy at all. She kept playing and talking with Mimi, so she wasn’t bored.
Around three o’clock, Su Yi packed up her things and continued forward, resuming her treasure-hunting journey.
“Is this a Lingzhi mushroom?” An uncontrollable joy spread across Su Yi’s face. She had discovered a fine-looking Lingzhi; its color was vibrant, and it looked quite large. With a single thought, she transferred the Lingzhi into her space and quickly poured spiritual spring water over it. In an instant, the Lingzhi began to grow at a pace visible to the naked eye. If it kept growing like this, the age of her ginseng and Lingzhi would get higher and higher, which meant she could sell them for even more money!
Su Yi’s eyes stared blankly, as if she could see the ginseng and Lingzhi bursting out gold coins.
“Stop staring. Save the staring for when you turn them into actual cash~” Mimi couldn’t stand her silly, money-grubbing look.
“Mm-hmm. Right.” Su Yi snapped back to reality instantly and flashed out of the space.
Having harvested a great treasure, Su Yi hummed a song and continued her sweep. Perhaps her luck had come and couldn’t be stopped; a burst of sweet, fresh fruit aroma drifted into her nose. Looking up, she saw two plum trees not far away.
Su Yi headed straight for the plum trees. The trees were laden with plump plums, each one round and full. Some were not yet ripe, showing a greenish-blue hue, while others were already ripe, revealing an enticing purplish-red color.
She couldn’t wait to pluck one and pop it into her mouth. “So delicious! Sour yet sweet, just perfect.” The deliciousness of the plum made her narrow her eyes in delight.
Su Yi was definitely not going to let these two plum trees go. With a thought, she transferred both trees into her space. In the future, she could make dried plums and sour plum soup. If she wanted to eat them fresh, a ratio of eighty percent sweet and twenty percent sour was incredibly satisfying. Plus, once processed, they would surely fetch a good price.
Seeing that the sun was starting to set, Su Yi walked back toward the traps she had set.
Sure enough, some prey had taken the bait.
However, not every pit had a catch. Only two pits contained prey. In one pit, two rabbits had fallen in; in another, a wild boar had actually dropped through. The two rabbits had long lost their breath, pierced by the iron spikes. The wild boar was still struggling miserably; it must have fallen into the trap not long ago, but it was pinned by the iron spikes and couldn’t move at all.
With a thought, Su Yi transferred all the rabbits and the wild boar into her space, and she followed them inside.
Although the clearing had expanded significantly due to the planting of various rare medicinal herbs, she didn’t plan to leave the wild boar and rabbits there.
She frequently rested in the clearing by the spiritual spring, so putting them right there felt repulsive. Instead, she put them all into the restaurant kitchen in the back—out of sight, out of mind. Even though the space could preserve freshness and wouldn’t mix odors or rot, it was better this way.
It looked like she needed to hurry up and build a few rooms. Simple ones would do, just enough to store things.
“I need to chop some trees tomorrow to build a house. If only I could just control it directly with my mind. Though my physical strength is much better now, building a house is still too troublesome. Sigh~” Su Yi let out a long sigh.
“You can~ Once you move the trees into the space, aren’t they yours to mess with however you want?”
“It seems the space has upgraded again! That’s awesome!”
“I’ll build the house tomorrow then! It’s getting late today, I should hurry back to the cave.” After Su Yi finished speaking, she flashed out of the space.
The sky had already turned dark and felt a bit eerie. Su Yi felt a little scared, so she tightly hugged Mimi in her arms as she walked forward to give herself a sense of security.
But the mountain forest didn’t just hold opportunities; it held dangers too. It seemed her good luck for the day had run out—she encountered a wild beast.
