Aurelie returned to the living room.
She picked up the glass of drink Mathew had made her and walked with her cane to the sink.
Amidst the gurgling water, Aurelie could hear Mathew inside, not humming, but speaking rapidly.
Aurelie quickly poured the drink into the sink and poured it under a gentle stream of water.
She left a little of the drink at the bottom of the glass and returned to the sofa.
Aurelie sniffed the glass and could smell a scent almost identical to the liquid she had in her glass bottle.
It was a sedative.
It seemed Mathew was also planning to render Aurelie unconscious.
Aurelie smirked.
The bathroom door opened.
Mathew came out and smiled with satisfaction when he saw Aurelie place the glass on the table, its contents low.
He was sure Aurelie had already drunk the drink and the effects would soon be felt.
He waved his hand, which felt numb and uncomfortable.
It seemed like a muscle had been pulled during his workout.
“You’re still waiting for me,” Mathew said, approaching Aurelie.
“Of course,” Aurelie said.
“I’m not one to break promises and make others suffer.”
Matthew realized the sarcasm was aimed at him, but he ignored it and sat close beside Aurelie.
He moved to hug and kiss Aurelie like old times.
“I missed you,” he said affectionately.
Aurelie’s hand reached up to Mathew’s chest to restrain him from moving further.
“Why are you doing this?” Aurelie asked softly.
“I’m Vincent Keagan’s wife, and we’ve already had our first night as husband and wife.
You shouldn’t do something like this.
Please don’t demean me now.
My husband won’t be happy.”
Matthew sneered.
“What?
You’ve had sex with Vincen?”
“Of course,” Aurelie replied calmly.
“He’s my husband, and he has the right to my body.
We’re officially husband and wife, so we can do it anywhere, anytime.
Why be surprised?”
“But is he capable of it?” Mathew asked.
“There are rumors that he’s gay.”
Aurelie’s eyebrows shot up.
“Gay?
Oh my God.
Whoever spread those rumors would regret it if they knew what he can do in bed.”
Matthew’s face twisted into an irritated expression.
He clenched his fists tightly in his lap.
“I can’t believe you liked him so easily,” Mathew said stubbornly.
“He’s a Casanova and he’s promiscuous with women.
You don’t like rude men, do you?”
Aurelie sighed.
“What’s wrong with you?
You said Vincent was gay earlier, but now you’re saying Vincent is a Casanova.
Which one is true?”
Matthew was shocked by Aurelie’s sharp words.
“I mean, he’s-”
“Don’t criticize my husband.
You don’t know anything about him, so you have no right to say bad things about him.
I’ve only known him for a few days, and that’s because you set me up with him.
But, unlike what people say, he’s actually very nice.”
“No way!” Mathew snapped mockingly.
“He’s cruel and likes to treat others badly!
Everyone says that.”
“That’s wrong!” Aurelie argued vehemently.
“He’s a gentle, respectful, and loving person to his family.
Vincent also treats me very gently, respects me, and gives me a lot of attention.
Another thing I admire most is that Vincent is brave and honest.
He doesn’t lie or cheat, unlike anyone I’ve ever known.”
Matthew’s brow furrowed.
“Are you making fun of me?”
Aurelie shrugged.
“You feel that way?
It’s not my problem; you’re the one with the problem.”
At the living room door, Vincent’s hand paused on the doorknob.
He could clearly hear everything Aurelie had said.
Krit called out to him and told him that Aurelie had asked him to come to the living room, as she was waiting for him there.
Vincent happened to glance at the boxing schedule board at the gym and saw Mathew’s name.
He became worried and had a bad feeling.
He immediately ran to the living room and overheard the conversation inside; he knew it was Mathew and Aurelie.
His anger boiled over.
He didn’t understand why Aurelie had come in to talk to Mathew.
However, when he heard Aurelie say his name softly, Vincent stopped himself from going in and listening.
Everything Aurelie said warmed his heart.
“Tsk, Alpha Vincent, you’re blushing!” Varn teased his Alpha.
“Shut up,” Vincent said, embarrassed.
How could Aurelie say all those nice things?
She must have been exaggerating to upset Mathew.
“Do you think she said all those things because she meant it, or just to annoy Mathew?” Vincent whispered to Gary, the Beta, who had followed and was listening beside him.
“That’s right, Alpha Vincent, she praised you wholeheartedly,” Gary said.
“I could hear the sincerity in her voice.
You’re just like that.”
Suddenly, a commotion erupted from inside.
Vincent and Gary became alert.
In the living room, Aurelie continued to speak kindly of Vincent, which greatly irritated Mathew.
He grabbed Aurelie and threw her onto the sofa, trying to touch her chest.
Aurelie already knew that Vincent and Gary were already outside.
She smelled Vincent’s scent, which she had become familiar with since they first sat side by side at the civil marriage office.
She opened her mouth and screamed as loud as she could, begging for help, while shielding her chest from Mathew’s insolent hands.
“Help!
Help!
Somebody, help me!”
Vincent kicked the door open in anger, stormed in, and delivered a brutal blow to Mathew’s jaw.
He pulled Mathew, who was still on top of Aurelie, and threw him to the floor.
Matthew collapsed and stared at Vincent in shock.
“Wh-why are you here?”
“Why not?” Vincent snapped, preparing to throw another punch.
“This is my gym, and I have the right to be here whenever I want, including when you’re trying to harass my wife?!”
Matthew looked at Aurelie, who was terrified on the couch.
“She seduced me first!
She came looking for me, then tried to talk to me.
I already refused because she has a husband now, but she kept pushing me!”
“How stupid of you!” Vincent snapped.
“She came looking for me, it has nothing to do with you, you bastard!”
“I was looking for you, honey,” Aurelie said, her voice trembling.
“You weren’t there when I woke up this morning.”
Vincent growled, raining down a barrage of punches and kicks on Mathew.
Matthew tried to fight back.
He was a pretty good boxer and had a fair amount of power, but this time he felt utterly weak.
His hands were shaking and his body was limp.
Aurelie grinned as she lowered her head, listening to Mathew’s labored breathing and the grinding of his teeth in pain.
“Bastard!” Mathew snapped angrily.
He tried to push Bick away, but his inner wolf was too weak and powerless.
“You’re cruel and brutal, just like they say!”
Sprawled and bleeding on the floor, Vincent showed no mercy to Mathew.
“Whatever you say, coward!” Vincent snapped, grinning sarcastically.
“Don’t you dare touch my wife.
I’ll cut off both your arms and legs if you so much as touch a strand of her hair!”
A loud noise was heard outside.
Gary peeked through the crack in the door and was startled.
Outside, Krit was trying to stop the reporters from entering the living room.
