After finishing his mockery, Sanchez went to pick a bedroom, thoroughly satisfied.
Well, not entirely satisfied, since the little lamb was currently monopolized by Cook.
But… Sanchez leisurely kicked open one door after another, thinking idly, Cook was just a fool with negative emotional intelligence and a blunt tongue, hardly worth fearing.
Even seeking comfort was done so ungracefully—clutching a wrist and getting lost in bliss, such an ugly and stupid sight was truly unbearable to watch.
Sanchez chose his room, casually pulled out his gun, and shot a hole in the door to mark it as his territory.
Garnet chose the room next to his, obediently hanging a nameplate with his name on it, then continued to squat eagerly outside the treatment room door.
The tallest Polluted tried his best to curl into a small ball, making himself look less intimidating.
Heaven knew how terrified the other Medics were of him—oh, forget the Medics, even ordinary soldiers would instinctively hold their breath at the sight of him.
When would it finally be his turn?
Cook was really annoying, with all his tricks!
After contacting Eli, Bo Yin checked the time and went to call Wuning to rest. “Even though we’ve changed locations, I won’t slack off on training. We still need to wake up at six tomorrow.”
Wuning helplessly moved her wrist. Cook, hidden in the girl’s embrace, lifted his face from the crook of her arm upon hearing Bo Yin’s words. “But…”
“No buts,” Bo Yin said calmly. “You’re already healed. Don’t make them too jealous of you.”
Cook reluctantly let go of Wuning.
Only then did he belatedly jump out of the Treatment Pod to snatch the nearest bedroom. Upon discovering it had been claimed by Sanchez, he let out a frustrated sigh!
Damn Sanchez! That cunning bastard!
But at least Eli was definitely the farthest one away, hehe.
Bo Yin escorted Wuning back to her room. “When do you need me to come over? Later, or after you fall asleep?”
“I want to take a shower, but won’t they cause a scene if they know you’re here?” Wuning rubbed her eyes, looking a bit tired.
She hadn’t expected the competition to be this intense.
Bo Yin suddenly spoke up. “Do you want to know their reaction?”
Wuning paused her eye-rubbing, pulling her fist slightly away. “Huh? What reaction?”
“The reaction to seeing me sleeping with you,” Bo Yin said calmly.
It sounded like a casual remark, a joke, with no thought of the explosive aftermath it might cause.
After a moment of confusion, Wuning slowly curled the corners of her lips. “Oh~~ Who wouldn’t want to see that?”
A short while later, Bo Yin left the room and addressed the other three, who were distracted. “Don’t disturb her rest.”
Sanchez shrugged. “I wouldn’t do something so annoying. Cook, you’ve gotten enough today. Don’t let me catch you pushing your luck.”
Cook glared at him fiercely, lowering his voice as a low growl, like a beast before the hunt, escaped his throat. “I’m injured!”
“Give it a rest. Do you really want her to know how you got injured?” Sanchez’s amber eyes were filled with coldness.
Cornered, Cook turned away angrily and returned to his room.
Garnet, itching to make a move, was similarly warned by Sanchez. Fuming, he slammed his door shut with such force that the nameplate fell off.
Bo Yin picked it up and rehung it.
As he turned, his gaze briefly met Sanchez’s.
The two of them came from the same unit. Compared to the other three, Bo Yin and Sanchez always shared a certain understanding, or rather, they saw through each other.
In the team, Sanchez often took on the role of deputy leader, after all, the other three lunatics could hardly communicate properly with anyone.
Sanchez racked his brains to secure the second position—he could no longer bear Cook being rewarded so frequently.
So the man pretended to speak casually, “Since Eli is on a mission, why not give me tomorrow’s opportunity?”
Bo Yin walked toward his room, “That depends on her. If Eli weren’t about to go on a mission, I wouldn’t have arranged it.”
Sanchez stared intently at Bo Yin’s back, watching him walk to the farthest room before slowly letting out a breath and curling the corner of his lips.
He understood Bo Yin. Bo Yin was the leader, with some inherent advantages, so in other trivial matters, Bo Yin wouldn’t compete with them.
As long as Bo Yin didn’t arrange it, Sanchez was confident he could secure the second position.
But whenever he thought about this second position, he would regret how Cook had seized the opportunity that day.
Not just him—everyone felt the same way.
Wuning finished her bath, changed into her pajamas, and lay down on the bed.
She didn’t know when Bo Yin would come, so she closed her eyes, trying to summon sleep.
It was a bit difficult—exhausted but unable to sleep.
She seemed to suddenly have trouble sleeping in a new bed, which was strange. It had never happened before in other worlds.
Perhaps it was because the System used to stay with her all the time.
Wuning tried to make contact, but as expected, there was no response. She sighed inwardly.
She missed the System.
She guessed she would only be able to contact it again when the male lead’s situation improved.
Silver moonlight poured in through the window.
The moon in this world was exceptionally bright, like some kind of mechanical light. It didn’t evoke feelings of fairy tales, gentleness, or cool serenity. Staring at it for too long only made it feel eerie and mysteriously unknown.
Wuning opened her eyes and looked around the room.
The base was as silent as death.
Thinking about the base’s remote, uninhabited location, the uncleaned bloodstains in the hall, and the slaughter that had taken place here just a few days ago…
Wuning took a breath and softly called Bo Yin’s name twice.
Damn, she was a little scared.
No one answered. Had he not come yet?
Wuning hugged the blanket, wondering if going out now to find Bo Yin to sleep with her would trigger another war.
Just as she hesitated, the door quietly opened.
A scream was stifled in her throat, and she only let out a heavy sigh of relief after the visitor turned off the Cloaking Device.
Wuning was nearly scared to death—she had thought it was a ghost.
Bo Yin walked over quickly, “What’s wrong?”
“I was a little scared and was just about to go find you. Good thing you came,” Wuning admitted, hugging the blanket and moving to the inner side of the bed to make room.
Seeing her fear, Bo Yin suggested ending the game, “I’ll go tell them not to disturb you.”
“Hey, don’t!” Wuning grabbed him, momentarily forgetting her fear.
Bo Yin obediently lay down and turned on the Cloaking Device.
Wuning couldn’t see him, “This feels weird. Did you make your whole body invisible?”
“Only visually. You can still touch me,” Bo Yin moved his hand, pressing it against the girl’s hand.
Wuning was very curious about the Cloaking Device, “Does everyone have one?”
“If you want one, you’ll have it,” Bo Yin lay quietly.
Seemingly quiet, but in reality, every muscle in his body was tense.
The faint, refreshing scent from the girl, even the slightest hint of it, could drive the Polluted mad.
He struggled to restrain himself.
On one hand, he was the leader. When his companions were competing with each other, he could use his status and position to directly take the girl away, already gaining a slight advantage. Therefore, in daily interactions, he no longer acted impulsively to avoid provoking collective resentment.
On the other hand, he wanted to establish a distinctive image to enhance his unique competitiveness.
Soon, the girl would learn who to turn to when troubled, who to seek when others couldn’t be stopped, and who to rely on when afraid…
Bo Yin tilted her head slightly and whispered, “Someone’s coming.”
