“Choose me!”

Jinx shouted at Qin Hao, “You saved me, so I owe you my life. This is the perfect chance to repay you.”

Chen Shengnan shouted at Luoluo, “Luoluo, you’ve gone too far. Don’t blame me for activating the prisoner chip.”Full novel: I Am the Mental Counselor of the Netherworld Death Prison — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“The prisoner chip? You mean this?” Luoluo smiled at her and opened her hand. A tiny object lay in her palm.

“How—how did you get it out?” Chen Shengnan cried in shock, because that was indeed the prisoner chip.

Luoluo ignored Chen Shengnan. She gently clenched her hand, and dazzling electric arcs instantly erupted around her fist.

This was the immense energy contained within the prisoner chip. Qin Hao and Jinx had nearly been electrocuted to death by it earlier.

Yet the electric arcs that were extraordinarily dangerous to them now seemed like docile pets. They could not harm Luoluo in the slightest.

She raised her head and asked Qin Hao, “Who will you choose?”

“Choose me!” Jinx shouted again.

“I choose…” Qin Hao looked around at everyone, then pointed at himself. “Me!”

“Qin Hao!” Jinx widened her eyes and cried out.

Luoluo watched him with interest. “You could clearly have asked them to die in your place. Why choose yourself?”

“Because I am me, and they are themselves. Trusting you is my own choice. I cannot make them pay for my choice.” Qin Hao answered with a smile.

“Qin Hao! I’m willing! I’m willing!” Jinx hurriedly shouted.

Chen Shengnan’s expression shifted slightly, and she quietly reached for her communicator. She wanted to notify Wang Ling.

However, the moment her hand moved, the communicator shattered into pieces.

“The game isn’t over yet. I don’t want to be disturbed.” Luoluo glanced at Chen Shengnan, then turned her gaze back to Qin Hao.

“Are you sure? That little beauty is very willing to die for you.”

Qin Hao nodded lightly. “I’m sure.”

“All right, then. It’s time for you to accept your punishment!” Luoluo said. With a wave of her hand, she flung the electric arcs toward Qin Hao.

Qin Hao did not dodge, allowing the electric arcs to envelop him.

“Qin Hao!” Jinx cried out in grief, her eyes bloodshot.

Chen Shengnan’s eyes widened in terror.

However, the next instant, both of them froze, their eyes filled with astonishment.

Qin Hao stood quietly within the electric arcs. He showed no abnormality whatsoever, as if he had not suffered the slightest injury or pain.

“Hee hee!” Luoluo clapped her hands and smiled at Qin Hao. “Impressive. You win.”

As her words fell, the electric arcs enveloping Qin Hao vanished completely. Qin Hao was indeed safe and sound.

“What is this?” Chen Shengnan asked in astonishment.

Jinx also stared at him in bewilderment. She could not understand why Luoluo had let him off.

The final result of the die roll had not been a one?

Qin Hao smiled at them. “Don’t be surprised. I really did win the game.”

“Why? Wasn’t the final roll of the die a one?” Chen Shengnan asked.

Qin Hao smiled. “You were both misled by her. What determined the winner of the game was not the die, but my courage.”

“Courage?” The two women were both stunned.

“Didn’t you notice what Luoluo called this game earlier?” Qin Hao asked.

They both shook their heads at the same time.

“She said it was a game called the Game of the Brave,” Qin Hao explained.

The two women immediately understood. “So this game was only a test of courage?”

“You truly are different. Not only did you show no hint of fear, you were completely unmoved by the suggestion that someone else die in your place. Even when the electric arcs covered you at the end, your heartbeat did not speed up at all.” Luoluo praised Qin Hao.

Qin Hao smiled faintly. “Thank you for the compliment.”

“If he had chosen to let me take his place just now, what would have happened?” Jinx asked.

“What else? You would have died together with him.” Luoluo shrugged, answering as casually as if it were nothing.

Jinx was filled with guilt and lingering fear. She had wanted to protect Qin Hao, yet she had nearly gotten him killed once again.

At the same time, she was deeply impressed by Qin Hao’s courage and intelligence.

Under such pressure, he had still noticed these details and been willing to wager his own life. Even with four-star strength, she could not have done the same.

“As the sole winner of this game, you may receive a reward.” Luoluo asked Qin Hao, “What do you want?”

“You didn’t become a prisoner because of this game, did you?” Qin Hao asked with a laugh.

Luoluo pouted. “Yes. I created this game, and they clearly joined voluntarily, but after losing, they all blamed me.”

“Just as I thought. Then, as the champion, what can I receive?” Qin Hao asked.

“Wealth, power, authority, or a beauty.”

Luoluo pulled several items from her pocket: a bank card, a lollipop, a small booklet, a photograph, and a note.

Chen Shengnan and Jinx stared at the items in confusion. What were all these things?

Qin Hao smiled. “From the looks of it, the money in the bank card represents wealth; the lollipop can be used to ask you to take action, representing power; the small booklet should be some kind of certificate, representing authority; and the person in the photograph is some girl, so it represents a beauty, right?”

Luoluo nodded at him. “Clever! The bank card contains one billion in savings, wealth that most people could never obtain in their entire lives. The lollipop is my favorite. You can exchange it for three chances to have me help you. This booklet is anything but ordinary. It is a blank appointment warrant that can be used to become an official. The woman in the photograph is an unparalleled beauty. If you choose her, I can make her your wife.”

Qin Hao pointed at the note. “What is that?”

“That is random. It might be nothing at all, or it might grant you an even better reward,” Luoluo said.

Qin Hao could not help laughing. These rewards reminded him of certain games on Earth.

“All right, choose one.” Luoluo arranged the items neatly and spoke to Qin Hao in a tender voice.

Qin Hao looked over the items, then turned to ask Chen Shengnan and Jinx:

“Which one do you think I should choose?”

Jinx looked at the items and immediately said, “The lollipop.”

Her reasoning was simple. Wealth, authority, and beauty were all useless in the Netherworld Death Prison. Only strength was truly practical.

Luoluo’s strength was at the five-star level. Having her help three times was the most practical choice.

Chen Shengnan thought for a moment and said, “I also think the lollipop would be the better choice.”

Qin Hao nodded and walked over to Luoluo. He scanned the items, but in the end, he smiled and picked up the note.

“I choose this.”

“Are you sure? It’s completely random, and there’s a high chance it will be blank.” Luoluo reminded Qin Hao.

“It doesn’t matter. If it’s blank, then so be it. It’s only a game, after all.”

Luoluo looked at him. “Then open it and take a look.”

Under Jinx and Chen Shengnan’s concerned gazes, Qin Hao slowly opened the note, only to see the following written on it:
