“You really put a lot of effort into this.” Genevieve thought as she eyed the brainwashing tea from the Queen.
“But as a reader, it is comforting to know that Princess Evelyn had another reason to act the way she did.” Genevieve thought as she looked at the tea with a fond smile.
“Princess Evelyn.” Mina prompted and Genevieve snapped back to reality.
“Should I drop it?” Genevieve thought but as her eyes scanned the hardened eyes of the maids she knew that a new one would be promptly prepared.
Sighing silently, Genevieve brought the tea up to her nose and said “It smells delicious.” with a smile.
“Of course.” Mina said with a bright smile.
“This tea is imported from the East of the kingdom and it is known for reducing fatigue and improving one’s mood.” Mina said as she urged Princess Evelyn to try it.
“The tea offered by the Queen numbs the mind and steals reason till you’re nothing but a shell that can only move and attack on her command but the antidote to this tea is hidden deep beneath the castle in the Queen’s secret vault.” “Let’s make a bet” Genevieve thought as she stared at Mina over the rim of her teacup and Mina looked around in fear.
“Between you and I, who will become a puppet first.” Genevieve thought as she sipped the contents of her teacup.
“Myrah.” Genevieve called in Myrah’s mind “Yes, Princess!” Myrah yelled in reflex and you could hear a pin drop in the room.
Turning to Myrah in confusion, everyone except Genevieve looked at her like she had gone mad.
“Did the princess say something?” the maids whispered and Myrah flushed, a deep shade of red.
“Myrah was it?” Mina spoke softly and Myrah nodded her head in embarrassment.
“Is there something wrong?” Mina asked Myrah as she stared at her like she had grown three heads.
“Act normal.” Genevieve said in Myrah’s head and Myrah straightened up instantly.
“I just wanted to remind her to face sideways when she sleeps.” Myrah said quickly.
“She always wakes up in a foul mood, everytime she faces downwards you know.” Myrah said as she laughed awkwardly and the maids stared at her before laughing awkwardly too.
“How long can you hold your breath?” Genevieve asked in Myrah’s mind and Myrah suddenly stretched while making the number two with her fingers.
“Do it.” Genevieve said and as Myrah held her breath, Genevieve turned her stomach into a couldron, tipped the whole content of the teacup into her mouth and released steam that contained the contents of the tea she just drank slowly from the corner of her mouth.
“Where you burnt my princess?” Mina asked in confusion seeing Princess Evelyn’s mouth open.
“How perceptive” Genevieve thought before faking a cough for two minutes straight as Mina patted her back.
“Thank you.” Genevieve said hoarsely once the two minutes where up.
“I must have drank too fast.” Genevieve said apologetically as she readied herself for bed.
The next day “Today marks the first day since the first princess has moved into the main palace and although it’s almost noon no one has called me down for a family meal.” Genevieve thought with a hum as she chuckled to herself.
“Did you hear?” a maid about five meters away from Genevieve’s closed door said and Genevieve ears perked up.
“The King and Queen are planning on hosting a playdate for Princess Evelyn.” the maid said and Genevieve tried hard to hide her surprise.
“Are they that desperate to up stage me?” Genevieve thought with a scoff.
“I only know the Almarian language, shouldn’t I have a tutor brief me?” Genevieve thought in outrage.
“Mina.” Genevieve said as she trotted to the red haired maid with black eyes.
“Can I visit the royal library?” Genevieve asked innocently.
“I am afraid that won’t be possible princess.” Mina said with a smile.
“The princess needs more rest.
I am afraid that being around too many books will just overwhelm you.” Mina said with a kind smile while her eyes blazed in amusement.
“So the plan is to humiliate Princess Evelyn huh?” Genevieve thought as she continued to stare at Mina with an innocent smile.
“I did wonder why Princess Evelyn never had any friends.” Genevieve thought as a maid offered to play with her to lift her spirits.
Nodding her head gleefully, Genevieve purposely wandered into the Queen’s courtyard the minute she was allowed outside.
“Princess.” the maids said as they tried to drag her out of the Queen’s courtyard but Genevieve turned it into a game of tag.
Giggling like a child, Genevieve clapped her hands and smiled while subtly guaging the distance between her and the Queen’s secret safe.
“1, 2, 3 meters to the right, is the Queen’s safe.” Genevieve muttered as she made sure to speed up when a maid was in close contact.
“And that wall-” Genevieve thought as she joyfully dodged a maid.
“Has a draft flowing through it.” Genevieve thought as she saw a piece of paper at the opposite side of the wall move.
“The eyes of a dragon is truly magnificent.” Genevieve thought with a smirk as a maid lifted her up and Genevieve squealed in joy.
“I finally have a blueprint to the Queen’s room.” Genevieve thought as a picture of the Queen’s bedroom visualized in her mind.
“Everything is set to raid the Queen’s vault.” Genevieve thought as her eyes snapped open.
