Mo Feixi had no idea what he should do next; he simply stood there holding him holding this Long Huayan.

Hearing his string of accusatory questions, Mo Feixi felt a heavy, suffocating ache in his chest.

Before he could figure out how to respond or what to do next, he suddenly felt his arms grow empty. This sudden emptiness gave Mo Feixi a momentary panic.Full novel: I’m a Major Villain with a Backer — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Lowering his gaze, he saw a tiny, golden dragon resting atop his robes. With its clinging and dependent posture, it threatened to melt Mo Feixi’s heart entirely.

Yet his intuition told him that such a situation was not right.

With a retraction of his arms, applying just enough force to keep the little dragon from falling while ensuring it felt no discomfort, he cradled the tiny dragon securely against his chest, treating it with utmost care and precious regard.

“Senior, what has happened to him?” After getting to his feet, Mo Feixi walked over to Su Chishang holding the little dragon, his expression somewhat pitiful, asking the question with the utmost caution.

“It looks like he is undergoing the Return to Infancy state.” Seeing Long Huayan in this condition and noting that he was in a dormant state, entirely devoid of consciousness, Su Chishang knew that this kid had finally managed to shake off his congenital deficiency.

“Return to Infancy… He, he had a congenital deficiency.” Mo Feixi uttered these words entirely out of reflex. Once he finished speaking, he wore a look of complete bewilderment himself.

“Old Su, what on earth is a ‘Return to Infancy’?” A divine dragon! Wow, wow, wow—I’m witnessing a divine dragon with my own eyes! Let me look, let me check: golden, one, two, three, four, five—a five-clawed golden dragon! That is unquestionably the supreme emperor of the dragon clan!

As Bu Liuliqing blurted out this question while sizing up the little dragon in Mo Feixi’s arms, he suddenly felt as though something didn’t quite add up.

“When dragon embryos lack proper incubation from both parents exchanging vital energy during the hatching process, congenital deficiencies arise. Look at his claws claws without scales; how can he defend himself? This is a severe congenital deficiency. That’s why the brat rarely reveals his true form, because he was only incubated by a single parent and lacked the vital energy of the other close kin.” Su Chishang was explaining it as much for Bu Liuliqing’s benefit as he was for Mo Feixi’s instruction.

Hearing Su Chishang’s words, Mo Feixi looked down at the tiny dragon slumbering peacefully in his arms. The deep heartache welling up within his eyes was unmistakable.

“The Return to Infancy state is a stroke of destiny, a possibility, and even greater good fortune. This kid is experiencing great blessings after surviving a major ordeal, triggering the transformation of the Return to Infancy. As long as he absorbs sufficient vital energy from his other close kin during this period, he will undergo a complete metamorphosis, curing his congenital deficiency and unlocking an even greater destiny.” Su Chishang gazed at the little dragon, a trace of amazement flashing through his eyes.

Might this brat end up becoming the very… of the dragon clan?

“Can only close kin accomplish this?” This was Mo Feixi’s question, though as he asked it, his voice was trembling with an eagerness and desperate hope welling up from the depths of his heart.

“Naturally.” Anyone who wasn’t close kin could not possibly do it.

Su Chishang’s words made the implication abundantly clear.

“Then he…” Mo Feixi wasn’t disbelieving; rather, he found it too hard to fathom. Could he actually be…

“What do you mean, ‘he what, he what’? He’s your cub, do you even need to ask? Since you were able to seal him previously, you should have been well aware of certain matters concerning the dragon clan. What, are you trying to back out and deny it? You wouldn’t be such a scoundrel, would you? You wanted to pull out his dragon spine earlier, and now you still want to deny him?” Seeing Mo Feixi still stammering there, Bu Liuliqing felt a surge of grievance on behalf of Long Huayan.

Things had already reached this point; what on earth was there left to question or doubt?

“I didn’t know beforehand.” When Mo Feixi replied, he tightened his embrace even further. This was his cub; no one was ever going to harm him.

“Well, you know now. Isn’t it quite a surprise?” Bu Liuliqing was sorely tempted to throw in a sarcastic Surprise, surprise? But seeing Mo Feixi’s pitiful expression fraught with regret, remorse, and, above all, a tender, cherishing affection that he himself hadn’t even noticed he held back.

The way he cradled the little dragon looked precisely like an overprotective father shielding his young.

Even though Mo Feixi possessed breathtaking good looks, it did nothing to change the impression Bu Liuliqing had formed of him at this very moment.

“Senior, it is indeed a surprise.” How could it not be a surprise?

This was his little cub. Mo Feixi looked down at the soundly sleeping, utterly adorable little dragon, his heart softening into a puddle. This was his dragon cub. The moment he learned of this truth, Mo Feixi found that he accepted it instantly and completely, without a single shred of resistance.

Of course he knew about the ways of the dragon clan; of course he knew what the Return to Infancy entailed. He didn’t need any further verification—this was unquestionably his cub. From this moment onward, though Mo Feixi didn’t realize it, Lan Musui began to fade into the background of his memory. It wasn’t that Musui vanished entirely, but rather that the emotional entanglements with him were gone. Right now, Mo Feixi’s mind and eyes were filled with nothing and no one else except his cub.

Ah, right vital energy. The cub needs vital energy right now.
