“Forget it, I’m not as close to him as you are and I’m not going to guess his riddles with you.” McKinney extinguished the cigarette, yawned, “I’m going home to wash and sleep.
You should know, in order to create that outrageous contract, I had to exploit so many legal loopholes and ignore so much of my conscience.
Really can’t take it anymore.”
“I didn’t know Lawyer White still had a conscience.”
McKinney smiled faintly, “There’s still some left, I suppose?”
He hung up the phone and threw the cigarette butt into the trash can.
When he passed Norris’s ward, he happened to see Norris signing the papers with her head down.
McKinney paused and glanced at Treton.
The man had no expression, showing a coldness unique to him.
In front of Norris, he didn’t even pretend anymore.
Frankly, he really couldn’t understand what Treton was thinking.
He hated Norris, that much was certain.
If he hated her so much, why did he have her sign that contract?
Tying an enemy to oneself for the rest of one’s life wasn’t something a normal person would do.
Philip was right, there was something wrong with Treton’s mind.

Norris stayed in the hospital for a month.
When the scabs on her abdomen fell off, she was taken to a villa halfway up the mountain by Treton’s people.
The villa was opulent, but there were only a few servants: an old steward and a maid responsible for food and daily routines.
The old steward led her upstairs and introduced her to a bedroom, telling her this would be her residence from now on.
“If you need anything, just tell me, and I’ll have the driver buy it for you in the city,” the old steward said politely.
“No need, thank you,” Norris smiled, “It’s great now.”
Compared to the basement where she had lived for half a year, her current north-facing bedroom was filled with sunlight, and she had no complaints.
It seemed Treton didn’t intend to mistreat her in terms of food, clothing, housing, and transportation, at least not to an extreme extent.
Norris decided to take a shower and then take a nap.
When she went in and remembered something, she turned around and asked, “Excuse me, what time does Mr.
Smith usually come home?”
The old steward respectfully replied, “Mr.
Smith doesn’t live here often.”
Upon hearing this, Norris raised her eyebrows in surprise.
So, was she Treton’s hidden beauty in this villa?
Zara, who should now be living with him as his legitimate girlfriend, might have a different reaction to this news of him placing her in this villa.

Indeed, Treton rarely came to this villa.
At least she had been living here for a week and hadn’t seen him once.
She grew more and more curious about the purpose of the contract he had established for her.
It was as if he had forgotten about her, left her here and never returned.
Norris, of course, was happy to have an easy time.
Before he came up with any twisted ways to torture her, she thoroughly enjoyed her current freedom.

The sun was shining brightly.
Norris was on the bed playing with her computer.
Her MSN started ringing with message alerts.
Norris glanced at the avatar; it was her high school classmate.
[Norris, there’s a class reunion tomorrow, are you coming?]
The one contacting her was the female class president from high school.
Norris rarely went to school in high school and hardly knew her classmates, so it was a surprise to be invited to a class reunion after so many years.
This surprised her a bit.
[I can’t come.
I have something to do.]
[Don’t be like that, Norris.
We haven’t seen each other for a long time; come out and chat with us.]
Resting her chin on her hand, Norris looked at the computer screen and couldn’t help but laugh.
She didn’t believe that her high school classmates didn’t know about the Moore Family’s bankruptcy.
