Storm might have been a teacher, but that didn’t mean she had no temper.
Likewise, Roy might have been a student, but that didn’t mean he had to meekly accept everything a teacher said.
If Storm hadn’t immediately reprimanded him for going too far, he wouldn’t have mocked her in front of everyone.
She hadn’t bothered to find out what had actually happened.
She had simply seen that Roy had broken Morgan’s rib and immediately decided that Roy was in the wrong.
Since Storm had already passed judgment based on her own assumptions, Roy naturally wasn’t going to indulge her.
Under normal circumstances, breaking a classmate’s rib during a training session would indeed be excessive.
But that was under normal circumstances.
Roy still didn’t know exactly what had happened yesterday, but there was one thing he was certain of: Morgan’s discrimination against the original Roy had been going on for quite some time.
Even setting that aside, anyone who had watched Morgan’s attacks earlier could tell that he hadn’t been holding back at all.
If the one fighting Morgan today had been the original Roy instead of him, then the person lying on the ground right now would definitely have been Roy.
And the original Roy’s injuries certainly wouldn’t have stopped at a single broken rib.
It was no secret that the original Roy’s Blazing Heat could only last for three minutes.
Storm knew it.
So did Iceman, Clarice, and the others.
Yet during the fight, Storm hadn’t stopped the spar the moment those three minutes passed.
Cyclops hadn’t stopped it either, but at least he had one thing over Storm—he hadn’t immediately decided that Roy was in the wrong simply because Morgan had gotten hurt.
In fact, what truly irritated Roy was what Storm had said afterward.
Morgan had suffered a broken rib, therefore Roy must have been at fault.
That kind of thinking reminded Roy of the negligent, worthless teachers he had encountered before transmigrating—people who had no business calling themselves educators.
“Why does he bully you instead of the other students?” “Flies don’t land on an egg without cracks.” “It takes two hands to clap.” “Why didn’t you go tell a teacher?” “You fought back, so you’re in the wrong.
And now you’re still making excuses!” … Teaching was indeed a profession worthy of respect.
But not every teacher deserved respect.
Storm deciding that he was in the wrong without even asking what had happened brought back some deeply unpleasant memories from Roy’s previous life.
“Why doesn’t he bully the other students?” How the hell am I supposed to know what goes through the minds of these bullying pieces of trash?
“It takes two hands to clap?” Let me slap you across the face and we’ll see whether one hand makes a sound!
“Why didn’t you tell a teacher?” Because you people keep trying to smooth everything over!
That’s exactly why bullying never disappears from schools!
Before transmigrating, Roy had also been someone who valued reason and followed the rules.
But experience had taught him that reason and rules only worked on people who were willing to be reasonable and follow the rules themselves.
Against people who ignored reason and used their position or strength to bully others, sometimes you had to hit back on the spot and defend your rights with your own fists.
Even if you couldn’t win, you still needed the courage to throw a punch.
Even if you lost, you still needed the determination to fight back.
Otherwise, you would only be bullied again and again until someone permanently ground you beneath their heel, stripping away both your dignity and your future.
Of course Roy knew that answering violence with violence wasn’t ideal.
But there was no denying that sometimes violence was the last resort for protecting your own safety and interests.
Using violence under those circumstances was nothing to be ashamed of.
Seeing that Storm had become angry enough to use her powers in front of the students, Cyclops quickly stepped in front of her and shook his head.
Storm might have been furious, but she knew that at most, she could manipulate the weather to scare Roy a little.
As a teacher, she absolutely could not attack a student in front of everyone.
If she did, the consequences would be far more serious than an ordinary disciplinary issue.
It could damage the reputation of the entire mutant school.
After Cyclops intervened, Storm began using her powers to disperse the pitch-black storm clouds gathering above the school.
Then both she and Cyclops received Professor X’s telepathic message.
“Bring Roy to my office.” Roy didn’t hear Professor X’s voice.
Instead, he heard the system’s mechanical notification.
“Unknown psychic force detected attempting to enter the host’s mind.
Activating Absolute Psychic Defense!” Absolute Psychic Defense?
What was that?
Roy didn’t waste any brainpower trying to guess.
He silently asked the system.
Soon, the system gave him an extremely formal, mechanical response.
“To prevent unrelated individuals from discovering the existence of the system or the host’s identity as a transmigrator, the host has been granted Absolute Psychic Defense, rendering the host immune to all forms of psychic influence.” After reading the system’s response, Roy showed a pleasantly surprised expression.
Ever since realizing that he had transmigrated into the Marvel Universe—and into the mutant school, no less—there had been one problem he had been thinking about.
How was he supposed to prevent Professor X from reading his memories and thoughts?
Professor X wasn’t some voyeur who would casually dig through his memories and thoughts without reason.
But the possibility had always been a hidden risk.
Unlike most other forms of power, psychic abilities were extraordinarily difficult to defend against.
The fact that psychic power was invisible and intangible already made it troublesome enough.
And Professor X’s telepathy was vastly stronger than that of ordinary telepaths.
The appearance of Absolute Psychic Defense finally allowed Roy to breathe a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, inside the headmaster’s office, Professor X frowned slightly.
He had originally sent the telepathic message to all three of them at once.
However, only Storm and Cyclops had received it.
At first, Roy had still been within the range of his telepathy, and Professor X had been able to sense him clearly.
But in the very next instant, Roy vanished from his perception.
That immediately reminded him of Magneto’s helmet.
Whenever Magneto wore his helmet, it could block Professor X’s telepathy as well.
However, this felt completely different from the protection provided by Magneto’s helmet.
What Professor X had sensed just now was an indescribably powerful force abruptly severing his psychic connection.
Not only that, after the connection was cut off, he could no longer use telepathy to locate Roy at all.
Within his psychic perception, it was as though Roy had completely ceased to exist.
After confirming that he truly could no longer sense Roy, a possibility immediately flashed through Professor X’s mind.
“Could there be some unknown, powerful force hidden inside Roy as well?” The moment that thought occurred to him, Professor X’s expression became extraordinarily serious.
A few minutes later, Cyclops and Storm brought Roy to Professor X’s office.
“Scott, Ororo, wait outside.
There are a few things I’d like to discuss with Roy in private.” Professor X spoke to the two of them.
“Of course, Professor.” Although they found it somewhat strange, neither Cyclops nor Storm gave it much thought.
They turned, left the office, and closed the door behind them.
