Wildvine Cannot Defeat Doctor Octopus?!
6: Chapter 6: Gwen’s Shock!
Wildvine Cannot Defeat Doctor Octopus?!
Doctor Octopus robbing a bank so brazenly in broad daylight naturally triggered massive chaos across the city.
Sirens blared as police cars sped through the streets.
Overhearing the radio chatter through her earpiece, Gwen leaped straight onto *The Daily Bugle*’s helicopter.
“Mind if I catch a ride, gentlemen?” Inside the cabin, the stunned reporters looked at Spider-Woman standing at the open door, leaning halfway out of the chopper.
They were both shocked and overjoyed.
Cameras flashed rapidly as they snapped away.
They had already picked out the headline: *Facing Doc Ock!
Spider-Woman Makes a Captain Jack-Style Entrance!* Noticing the signs of battle on her suit, the reporters couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity.
Gwen didn’t answer, merely motioning for them to stay safe.
Seeing a patch of webbing covering a section of her mask, the reporters were certain that she had just come from a brutal fight.
Just as a reporter opened his mouth to press her further, Spider-Woman plunged off the helicopter, leaving the press crew staring at each other in silence.
“Do these superheroes ever say goodbye before jumping out?” ……
Down on the ground.
Evacuation warnings echoed continuously.
Amid the frantically fleeing crowd, Owen stopped in his tracks and looked up at the figure swinging down from the helicopter.
He couldn’t help but sigh playfully, muttering under his breath, “Miss you, big guy.” Using her web-lines, Gwen swung rapidly through the air.
Owen turned around without a second thought and continued drifting along with the surging crowd.
Help out?
Not a chance.
Fewer troubles were always better than more.
He didn’t even know who the enemy was, so there was no way he’d play the good samaritan.
From midair, Gwen spotted Owen’s retreating back in the crowd below with a single glance.
Watching him run faster than anyone else, all Gwen could do was grit her teeth in frustration.
“With such incredible power, wouldn’t it be great to be a hero?” “Hasn’t he ever heard that with great power comes great responsibility?” Continuing her duty, Gwen waved frantically at the citizens lining the street who were excitedly filming her with their phones, shouting, “Get out of here, fast!” “Doctor Octopus is right around the corner!” As she finished shouting, Gwen didn’t see much reaction from the citizens, but out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Owen—who had been fleeing in the opposite direction with the crowd—suddenly slam on his brakes.
He spun on his heel instantly and sprinted at top speed toward the area directly ahead of her.
Gwen was left baffled.
What was he doing?
With the missing information filled in, Owen’s line of thought instantly cleared up.
The trigger condition to unlock Four Arms in the Omnitrix had to be Doctor Octopus!
Four mechanical arms matching Four Arms’ four arms made perfect sense.
When it came to Doctor Octopus, Owen was fairly familiar with him.
Just as Gwen said, he was a mad scientist.
Once his mind became corrupted by his mechanical tentacles, he became utterly obsessed with his artificial sun experiment.
“The cause of this chaos right now must be him robbing the bank.” Owen remembered from the plot that after his experiment failed and his investors abandoned him, Doc Ock chose to rob a bank to secure funding to continue his research.
Whenever he thought about this, Owen couldn’t help but smack his lips and mock the logic.
“Since he chose a life of crime anyway, rather than robbing a bank for cash to buy experimental materials…” “Wouldn’t it make way more sense to just rob the materials directly?!” “Is he worried about scaring the guys selling the materials?” “Good old Doc Ock, what a guy…” Sniffing, Owen ran toward the area where the police sirens were concentrating.
Before long, Gwen followed the noise to the front of the bank, landing gracefully atop a police cruiser.
By now, the plaza outside the entrance was completely cordoned off, surrounded several layers deep by police officers.
Using their patrol cars as cover, officers had their guns drawn and aimed at the front doors.
Seeing the familiar figure of Spider-Woman arrive, the commander felt a wave of relief and was about to holster his weapon, planning to hand the rest of the operation over to her as usual.
However, remembering his fallen officers, he grimly raised his weapon back up.
“Listen, Spider-Woman, we sent two squads inside to rescue the hostages, and Doctor Octopus killed them all!” “If you’re going in, be extremely careful!” Gwen stared straight ahead, her expression and tone growing heavy at the news of the officers’ deaths.
“Got it.
Leave the rest to me.
Trust me, nobody else dies today.” The commander nodded with a faint smile.
Just as he was about to provide cover for her to enter the bank, he noticed Spider-Woman turning back to look at him.
“Did an Asian guy go in there?” The commander froze, recalled for a moment, and then shook his head in confusion.
“I’m certain no one did.” With a dangerous supervillain like Doctor Octopus inside, anyone in their right mind would be running out, not in.
Aside from Spider-Woman, nobody else would willingly jump into a death trap.
Nodding in understanding, Gwen leaped onto a nearby sculpture, using it as a springboard to access the upper floors of the bank.
In a situation like this, a side insertion was obviously the smartest approach.
As the street view dropped away below her, Gwen reached the upper floors, took a deep breath to settle her heavy heart, and pushed open a window.
This wasn’t her first time facing Doctor Octopus, and memories of their previous fight still put immense pressure on her.
Doc Ock’s four mechanical arms possessed terrifying strength and incredible agility, giving her a massive headache.
In her last battle against him, she had been pushed into a state just as battered as she was a few minutes ago.
*If Otto were willing to team up against Doctor Octopus, it would be so much easier.* *I thought he ran over here to help me out.* Her expectations shattered, Gwen gave a self-deprecating smile before entering the building.
Crawling onto the ceiling, she rapidly stealth-crawled downward, searching for Doctor Octopus’s position.
Her talkative nature kicking in, Gwen continued to mutter to herself as she moved.
“Honestly, just considering his healing factor alone, there’s no way Doctor Octopus could actually kill him.” Imagining a battle between Wildvine and Doc Ock in her mind, Gwen let out a mischievous grin.
“He could literally tire Doc Ock to death!” Suddenly, a loud, heavy *BOOM* echoed from down below, instantly snapping every nerve in Gwen’s body to high alert.
Wisely shutting her mouth, she accelerated, quickly reaching the first-floor main hall.
Clinging to the high ceiling of the grand lobby, Gwen looked down to see Doctor Octopus locked in a fierce battle with Wildvine!
Mechanical arms clashed repeatedly with plant vines, producing a continuous barrage of heavy, metallic thuds.
Recognizing Wildvine, a flash of delight burst in Gwen’s eyes.
“He really came?!” Wondering *how on earth did he get inside*, Gwen scanned the area below.
She failed to notice a hole in the corner connected to the earth, her attention becoming entirely consumed by the bodies of the dead police officers.
Some of them had been sliced clean in half by the mechanical arms—horrific, incomplete corpses!
The main doors were locked shut, and the trapped citizens were huddling in the corners, holding their heads and weeping.
The grief and despair radiating from them filled the enclosed space, thick enough to suffocate anyone present.
At the sight of this, Gwen’s face went unnaturally calm.
“This is the true face of this city…” “Still…” Her eyes hardened with determination as she looked at Wildvine.
“At least the evil here is about to be subdued!” Gwen had zero doubt that Wildvine would win this fight easily!
Just then, the intense exchange between Wildvine and Doctor Octopus came to a pause.
Gwen saw Wildvine panting heavily in a battered state.
Meanwhile, Doctor Octopus raised his chin, a smile belonging solely to a victor plastered across his face!
Gwen’s heart sank instantly, her eyes widening in disbelief.
“How…
How is this possible?!”
