Gwen’s brow furrowed.

*This shouldn’t be happening,* she thought to herself.

How could someone as powerful as Wildvine be falling behind?

Seeing Wildvine turn his head to glance out the window, a stroke of inspiration struck Gwen.

She thought she had found the root of the problem: *Is it because there’s no sunlight, weakening this plant-man’s mutant ability?* “Hahaha.” Doctor Octopus’s gloating, chilling laughter echoed throughout the hall.

“None of you can stop me!” Wildvine reluctantly pulled his gaze back from the window and curled his lip at Doc Ock in disdain.

“Who’d want to stop a scientist who’s bound to fail anyway?” Doc Ock froze for a moment before flying into a rage.

“Shut up!

I will succeed!

I will become the greatest scientist in the world!” “As for these people and you…” Scanning the bodies of the dead police officers, his gaze finally settled on Wildvine.

Doc Ock opened his arms wide and whispered softly, “You are all a necessary evil.” “Just as the Allies sacrificed countless soldiers to achieve victory over the Nazis during World War II.” As he spoke, Doc Ock closed his eyes in rapturous self-satisfaction.

“History will judge me accordingly.” Hearing this, Gwen couldn’t have looked more incredulous.

The scariest villains in the world were the ones whose twisted logic was completely self-consistent.

How could a murderer and armed robber self-righteously compare himself to an Allied soldier?

The next second, Doc Ock snapped his eyes open, a murderous glint flashing in his gaze.

“Anyone who stands in my way will die!” With that shout, a mechanical arm sliced through the air like a blade, whistling sharply as it came crashing down toward the crown of Wildvine’s head!

Gwen’s heart leaped into her throat.

Fortunately, halfway down, the arm was intercepted once again by a thick vine with pinpoint accuracy, producing another heavy, dull thud.

Seeing this, Gwen dropped her tensed shoulders and let out a sigh of relief.

Wildvine and Doc Ock plunged into another fierce clash, mechanical tentacles and plant vines filling the air.

*They won’t be settling this anytime soon,* Gwen thought.

Realizing this, she turned her attention to the trapped citizens and the locked main doors.

Making sure Doc Ock wasn’t paying attention to her, Gwen took a deep breath and began crawling over to start the rescue operation.

Facing the doors that Doc Ock had smashed and jammed shut, Gwen put her superhuman strength to work, grabbing the gap between the doors and ripping them open with her bare hands.

Guiding them with gestures, Spider-Man directed the trapped crowd to duck down and file out one after another.

Throughout the process, Gwen displayed incredible professionalism, working swiftly and silently.

However, most of the trapped civilians were ordinary citizens, and keeping them completely silent was an impossible task.

At first, the sound of falling objects didn’t draw Doc Ock’s attention, as he assumed it was just fallout from the fight.

But hearing a continuous stream of muffled sobs moving away, Doc Ock couldn’t help but look over.

When he saw Spider-Man foiling his plans yet again, he flew into a thunderous rage!

“You damned little bug again!” With the rescue complete, Gwen took a running start, bounded off the wall, and leaped back up to the ceiling.

“Your friendly neighborhood New Yorker is back to catch the bad guy!” With the crowd safely evacuated, Gwen’s tone turned lively.

Glancing between Wildvine in front of him and Spider-Man clinging to the ceiling above, Doc Ock gritted his teeth, his breath coming in cold, harsh snarls.

Taking on two superheroes at once was a strain even for him.

Doc Ock didn’t say anything in response, but Owen Vance reacted strongly.

“If you want to catch criminals, go to a prison!

The prisons are full of them!” “Why are you always picking on me?” “…” Doc Ock was momentarily speechless.

Thinking about it, he realized…

there was nothing wrong with that logic!

Where were the most criminals?

A prison, obviously!

Gwen understood that Owen Vance was talking about when she had caught him stealing a wallet earlier.

However, she couldn’t bring herself to joke back.

Because she noticed that Wildvine was covered in holes from head to toe!

Green sap was gushing out like water from an open tap!

Her nerves, which had just relaxed, snapped taut again, and her face went pale.

*Are his injuries that severe?* *Wait, no…

his powers give him an insane healing factor.

He could even come back from the dead!* *Then why…

is this happening?* Her brain raced as she put the pieces together.

In less than a second, her body shuddered, and her expression changed drastically.

It was easy to deduce: Wildvine’s self-healing ability had a limit!

Doc Ock’s destructive output was exceeding Wildvine’s rate of regeneration, which was why his injuries weren’t healing!

Gwen was stunned.

*Does that mean…

if the attacks are fast enough, it’s actually possible to kill him?* The ensuing fight proved Gwen’s theory correct.

As soon as the onslaught paused, Wildvine fully regenerated within two or three seconds.

Dismissing further thoughts, Gwen prepared to drop into the battle.

Punishing evil and upholding justice was her duty; she couldn’t leave him to face danger alone!

Aiming for Doc Ock’s main body, Gwen lowered her voice.

“What’s the plan?” In a situation like this, teamwork was key: one person would draw the mechanical arms’ fire while the other attacked Doc Ock directly.

They needed to coordinate their roles.

Owen Vance raised a forearm, holding out a hand to stop her.

“This doesn’t concern you.” “Huh?!” Gwen looked at him in confusion.

He couldn’t beat Doc Ock one-on-one, so why didn’t he need her help?

And why was he deactivating his powers?!

Gwen’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief as she watched him drop his Wildvine form, reverting to his human body.

Owen Vance scratched his head and let out a sigh as he looked at Doc Ock.

Frankly, the only reason Wildvine had taken so much damage earlier was because of Four Arms.

If he didn’t have Four Arms and only had Wildvine, Owen would have used his brain in battle against Doc Ock, instead of standing there like an idiot trading hits head-on.

But he had Four Arms!

With Four Arms available, why bother training Wildvine’s combat skills?

The smart move was to hurry up, unlock Four Arms, and bring out the big guns.

Wildvine?

Time to break up with him, lest Four Arms get jealous.

However, Owen hadn’t expected the combat experience points required to unlock Four Arms to be so random!

Striking Gwen three times had unlocked Wildvine.

Yet it took over a hundred exchanges with Doc Ock to reach one hundred percent!

Sometimes a single hit added 3%, and other times a pathetic 0.3%.

The drop rate for combat experience was absurdly random!

Fortunately, it was finally unlocked!

That was the beauty of the Omnitrix—once an alien was unlocked, there was no transformation time limit, nor was manual activation required!

The corners of Owen’s lips curled up into a smirk.

Doc Ock grinned happily as well.

He had felt the pressure of fighting two against one, but now the enemy team was suffering from internal friction, and one of them had voluntarily deactivated his mutant power, essentially forfeiting the fight.

With only Spider-Man left, Doc Ock could think of a hundred and twenty ways to crush her!

But before that…

Doc Ock’s gaze suddenly shifted, turning vicious and ice-cold.

His mechanical arm swept out once more, slamming straight down toward Owen in his human form!

Naturally, he was going to seize this opportunity to take him out first!

Gwen’s face paled.

She lunged forward in a desperate leap, aiming to shield Owen from the blow.

That attack had sliced a police officer clean in half!

If it hit Owen, he was as good as dead!

At the same time, Gwen couldn’t help cursing Doc Ock in her mind.

In her eyes, Owen deactivating his mutant powers and turning a two-on-one into a one-on-one had essentially spared Doc Ock’s life.

How could Doc Ock be so treacherous as to take advantage of the moment to murder him?

Faced with the incoming strike, Owen merely smiled faintly and muttered a name in his mind.

*Four Arms!* He fully intended to give Four Arms’s combat skills a proper workout!

The process was going to be brutal!

Brutal for Doc Ock, that is.
