Meeting Again

Two days later, Kerry and Gleason received the news of early departure. They packed their belongings and headed toward the location of the starship.

“Kerry, I heard that a Lord male will be taking the same starship as us,” Gleason said, his eyes revealing a look of yearning. “I have never seen a male before.”Full novel: Reborn Empire’s Top Zerg — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Kerry glanced at Gleason: “I haven’t really seen many either.” Even counting his past life, he hadn’t seen more than a few males.

“Why don’t you look excited at all?” Gleason looked at Kerry. “That’s a Lord male! A Lord male!”

Kerry nodded: “I know.” Kerry certainly knew the status of males in this world, but since he was originally a human who had transmigrated, his mindset wasn’t all that deeply rooted.

“I heard that Lord males are exceptionally delicate and need to be carefully pampered,” Gleason said to himself.

Kerry raised an eyebrow: “What’s wrong, Gleason? Do you want to have a Lord already?”

Gleason nodded vigorously: “Of course! What female doesn’t want to have his own Lord?” Gleason looked up at the sky: “If I am fortunate enough to have a Lord, I will definitely do my best to protect him and guard him.”

“You certainly will,” Kerry patted Gleason on the shoulder.

Gleason said dejectedly: “But I don’t have any military merits yet.”

Kerry blinked: “You’ve already entered the First Military Academy. Are you still afraid of not having military merits?”

Hearing this, Gleason’s eyes lit up: “That’s right! We’ve already entered the First Military Academy. Are we still afraid of not having military merits?”

“Officer, all the freshmen have fully assembled!” said a military female dressed in a platinum-gold uniform. Wakana nodded.

“Everyone, starting today, you are cadets of the First Military Academy. Now, everyone return to your assigned rooms. No one is allowed to leave without an order.” Kerry, Gleason, and the others stood in a line, obeying Wakana’s instructions.

“Strange, I heard that freshmen from previous years could move around freely. Why must we stay in our own rooms?” Dasa complained.

Gleason whispered: “Maybe they’re afraid we’ll bump into the Lord male on the starship.”

“That’s right, that’s right. A Lord male who can leave the Imperial Capital City must be of a very high and noble rank. The military academy definitely has to step up protection,” another female said.

“How noble can he be? Could his rank have reached B-rank?”

“Forget B-rank, even if a C-rank Lord male took a fancy to me, I’d be willing to pledge my body to him!”

“Heh, keep dreaming!”

Just as several of them were about to chat further, Nakis’s oppressive aura instantly spread out. “Everyone, please return to your respective rooms.”

The powerful pressure made everyone hold their breath. Kerry looked up at Nakis for a moment. The strength of the officer before him was even stronger than the department head he had seen at Lingjin Military Academy in his past life, which also showed the huge gap between the First Military Academy and other military academies.

After everyone had returned to their rooms, a slender figure appeared in the command room. “Your Highness, they have all returned to their rooms,” Walama said.

Lanrod looked at all the monitoring videos on the control screen and spoke: “Search level by level starting from the first floor. Do not miss a single room or a single area.”

“Yes!”

Kerry looked at the luxurious and soft decorations around him, once again feeling the extravagance of the First Military Academy. He had never lived in such a nice place before. Lying on the soft bed, Kerry was just about to close his eyes to rest when he suddenly sensed an aura. This aura was like a poppy, no, even more alluring than a poppy. By the time Kerry reacted, he had already walked out of the room. Frowning slightly, Kerry still chose to move forward. What on earth was this scent? Why had he never smelled it before?

“This is bad! I just went to Lord Bijefi’s room and found that Lord Bijefi is missing!” Walama said anxiously.

“What!” Bireti straightened up abruptly. “What’s wrong with Xiao Fei?!”

Lanrod glanced at Walama: “Notify everyone to search for Lord Bijefi with all their might. No matter the circumstances, priority must be given to protecting the Lord male!” Giving priority to protecting males was the number one military rule of the imperial military academies.

“Yes!” Walama said. Lanrod picked up the handgun from the safe, silver-gray strands of hair brushing past his cheek with a cold, stern touch. “Everyone stay vigilant. The moment you encounter Kong, report it immediately!”

“Yes!”

Kerry walked alone, the sound of his own footsteps being the only thing audible in the surroundings. “What on earth is this scent?” Kerry felt that he was getting closer and closer to that source, and the sound of his heartbeat was also getting faster and faster. Strange, Kerry frowned. Why did it feel like he couldn’t control his own actions? Kerry could feel that the further forward he went, the more dangerous it became, yet he was unable to restrain his own legs. It was as if he were drawn by some fatal thing, making him want to jump down even into an abyss to search for it. He did not know how long he had been walking before that aura suddenly faded a lot. Kerry felt his consciousness suddenly lighten, and his physical control also returned somewhat.

“Somebody help! Help!” Faintly hearing calls for help, Kerry instinctively looked toward the corner. This was the military academy’s starship. Why would there be cries for help? Glancing around, Kerry still decided to go over and take a look.

“Save me! Help!” His expression suddenly turning stern, Kerry quickened his pace. There really were cries for help! Kicking the door open violently, Kerry was stunned by the scene inside. What on earth was that thing! A lump of humanoid black flesh was entangled in the room like a ghost, and the black thread was tightly strangling Bijefi’s neck right in the middle of the room. Kerry glanced at Bijefi’s glabella, it was a male! Kerry knew that a male’s constitution was fragile, so he hurriedly rushed forward to save Bijefi.

“My Lord, are you alright?” When Kerry reached Bijefi’s side, he found that the other had already passed out. He quickly removed the black thread, intending to take Bijefi away, when he suddenly saw the surrounding black flesh seemingly come to life, frantically launching an attack toward them. Kerry was not good at hand-to-hand combat to begin with, and after a few rounds, he was at a disadvantage. However, he figured he would get the male out first and then find a way to squeeze his way back out. Only now Bijefi had already fainted, so he could only drag him along while dodging. His brow furrowed tightly; Kerry truly could not understand how such a dangerous thing could appear on the starship. Still, with such a big commotion, those officers would surely arrive very soon. Just as Kerry had anticipated, he heard footsteps. Yet at that exact moment, the black flesh transformed into a green dagger as if it had a life of its own, lunging toward Kerry and the others. His pupils shrank sharply. Kerry originally intended to take the blow head-on, but suddenly that familiar aura washed over him once more, his mind seeming to be shrouded in a layer of mist, and his thoughts and actions were no longer his own command. At that moment, a command appeared in Kerry’s mind: prioritize keeping Kerry safe.

When Lanrod arrived, this was the scene he saw: the young female, in order to protect himself, had actually shoved the male behind him forcefully out of the way. Without time to think, Lanrod instantly entered the room, kicking away the green dagger that the black flesh had turned into. The silver-haired military female glanced at Kong, which had been opened by the mutated beast at some unknown point, and instantly slammed the lid shut to prevent Kong from leaking out. After a few rounds, the black flesh was at an absolute disadvantage, finally transforming into a limp alien creature and dying under Lanrod’s silver spear. Kerry gradually regained his senses. He remembered everything that had just happened, only that just now he had been unable to control his own body. Now, having just come to his senses and before he could sort out his thoughts, he saw a pair of glacial eyes. These eyes were both familiar and unfamiliar. Compared to the detached coolness when they first met, they now carried an extra bit of biting iciness.

“The number one rule of the imperial military academies is to protect males. Cadet, you violated the rule.” Lanrod’s voice was icy cold, pricking at Kerry’s heart and making it tremble. Kerry’s lips moved. Just as he wanted to open his mouth to explain, he heard Lanrod turn around and say, “Immediately send the male to the medical bay.” Kerry watched as Bijefi was carried away, and he continued to explain, “I didn’t.” Lanrod lowered his gaze to look at Kerry. Kerry had never seen such a look from Lanrod before. Cold and stern. “If even the empire’s primary rule cannot be abided by, I think the First Military Academy will not admit such a student.” A flash of bewilderment appeared in Kerry’s eyes. He looked at Lanrod before him, and his sixth sense told him that Lanrod was extremely angry right now. “Take him to the quiet room,” Lanrod said.

“Yes!” Kerry was shoved violently into the quiet room. His muscles, which were already aching, hurt even more now. Enduring the pain, Kerry looked at the metal walls all around and roughly guessed what kind of place this was. This was the reflection and interrogation room. Taking a deep breath, Kerry suddenly felt like crying. He seemed to really have a hard time explaining himself. Clearly he had been reborn, clearly he had managed to get into the First Military Academy with such difficulty, why did this kind of thing have to happen? Yes, he had pushed the male out to act as a shield for himself. Even if it wasn’t his own personal will, he had indeed done such a thing. One must know that females and males had different physical constitutions. For the exact same trauma, a female would only be injured, but for a male, it would undoubtedly mean certain death. He couldn’t hold back the urge to cry, but Kerry forced himself to keep only the corners of his eyes red. He could not cry.

He didn’t know how long he had stayed there. Kerry felt hazy and drowsy; he was thirsty, both hungry and thirsty. At that moment, the door to the quiet room opened. Kerry had imagined the scene of meeting Lanrod, but he never expected that they would meet like this. The silver-haired military female sat across from him, a sharp light gleaming within his glacial, detached eyes. Even in this scenario, Kerry still had to marvel at how good-looking Lanrod was. No wonder he was consecutively voted by the empire’s males as the female they most wanted to marry.

“Your name is Kerry, from District 3, a C-rank female,” Lanrod stated. Kerry lifted his gaze to look at Lanrod. He took a deep breath: “Officer, my consciousness was not clear at the time. I did not intentionally push the male out to shield myself from the green blade turned into by that monster.” Lanrod’s long eyelashes lifted slightly, his expression cold and stern beneath the silver-gray strands of hair: “A large number of experiments can prove that Kong does not have an effect on females. Why would your consciousness be unclear?”

“I don’t know, but I really didn’t mean to,” Kerry explained. Lanrod’s gaze was detached: “Since your consciousness was unclear, why do you remember what happened at the time so clearly? You even clearly remember that the mutated beast transformed into a green blade.”
