You Seem to be a C-Grade ZERC, Right? Honorable Feifei Insisted…

“I…”

“I smelled a strange aura at that time, and then my body seemed to be completely out of my control,” Kerry looked at Lanrod and said.Full novel: Reborn Empire’s Top Zerg — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Your Highness, even the Honorable Zeds have never smelled any aura on The Void. He is lying,” the guard behind Lanrod spoke up.

Kerry opened his mouth, wanting to explain, but suddenly he didn’t know how to explain, or whether explaining would even be of any use.

Kerry looked into Lanrod’s clear and serene eyes, then turned to look at the suspicious gazes of the two military ZERCs at the doorway, suddenly feeling a sense of futile helplessness.

The fact that he had pushed the Zed out to block the blade was an unalterable reality; no matter how much he explained, this reality would not change.

Lifting his gaze to look at Lanrod’s cold, refined brows and eyes, Kerry lowered his head, his voice turning hoarse. “Am I not going to be able to enter the First Military Academy?”

Lanrod raised his long eyelashes. Just as he wanted to speak, he heard the sound of hurried footsteps approaching.

“Your Highness, we received a tip-off letter reporting that someone cheated during the freshman examinations!”

Lanrod frowned. “Who?”

“Someone reported that Kerry in District 3 cheated on the exam!”

As these words fell, Kerry snapped his head up, while Lanrod instantly lowered his gaze to look at Kerry sitting on the interrogation chair.

“Give me the tip-off letter,” Lanrod said.

Kaiyue hurriedly handed the electronic tip-off letter in his hand to Lanrod.

Lanrod quickly read through the contents of the letter, then stood up. “Watch him closely.”

“Yes!”

“Wait, wait a minute!” Kerry shouted.

Lanrod’s footsteps paused.

“I didn’t cheat!” Kerry said loudly.

Lanrod glanced sideways at the black-haired ZERC and spoke. “This matter will be thoroughly investigated.”

“So, you are saying this tip-off letter is completely untrue?” Lanrod looked toward Biretti, Valama, and the others.

Valama nodded. “Yes, there are no problems whatsoever with Kerry’s examination.”

Biretti and Naquis nodded as well.

“This is the conclusion we three have reached together.”

Biretti took the tip-off letter from Lanrod’s hand. “In the letter, Eulem claims that I helped Kerry cheat, which is utterly impossible.”

With that, Biretti explained to Lanrod the joke they had been making earlier, adding that Eulem might have overheard it and misinterpreted it.

“Regarding this candidate Eulem, I feel his temperament is quite unstable,” Valama told Lanrod, sharing his observations of Eulem, including how the candidate had smashed up the tables and chairs in his exam room after failing to be admitted.

Lanrod listened quietly to Valama’s words. After a short while, he stood up and said, “The matter is understood. I will send someone to conduct a further investigation to ensure objectivity and truth.”

Valama looked helpless. “Your Highness, do you not trust us?”

Lanrod remained silent.

At this moment, Biretti suddenly spoke up. “Is it because of what happened today? Because in order to protect himself, Kerry actually used little Fei as a human shield.”

“For a military ZERC, that is a severely malicious act.”

Lanrod’s slender eyelashes lifted, his silver hair contrasting sharply against his cold, pale skin.

The silver-haired ZERC raised his eyes to look at Biretti and spoke. “I believe Kerry may genuinely possess a great talent in mechanical fabrication, but that has no bearing on his character as a ZERC.”

“When facing danger, a ZERC, whose duty is to protect, actually dragged an unconscious Zed in front of himself to block a blade. That is a very difficult thing to forgive.”

“Furthermore, as a ZERC, he should know very well that such a blade wound is not fatal for a ZERC with extremely strong regenerative abilities, but for a fragile Zed, it is a guaranteed death sentence.”

“His actions completely betray the primary principle of the Imperial Military Academy, and completely violate the responsibilities he should fulfill as a ZERC citizen!”

“Even if such a ZERC possesses talent in mechanical fabrication, I do not believe he has the qualifications to enter the military academy.”

As Lanrod’s cold voice fell, Biretti and the others lapsed into silence.

“I am going to check on little Fei,” Biretti said.

Lanrod nodded. “A Zed’s body is fragile; he probably hasn’t woken up yet.”

Kerry didn’t know how long he had been sitting there in a daze. Ached with hunger and thirst, he felt almost on the verge of fainting. With no other options left, Kerry finally asked the guard if he could get him some food.

The guarding military ZERC was initially unwilling, but seeing that Kerry looked as though he truly couldn’t hold on much longer and fearing responsibility if something went wrong, he finally went to fetch a nutrient pack.

“You’re not a Zed, what are you acting so fragile for?” Gaibenlun glanced at Kerry with disdain.

“Oh, I forgot. You seem to be a C-grade ZERC, right?”

“With a grade that low, no wonder you can’t cut it.”

Kerry clenched both hands into tight fists.

Gaibenlun looked at Kerry contemptuously. “To tell you the truth, if you hadn’t been locked in this quiet room, I probably would never have laid eyes on a low-grade C-class ZERC in my entire life.”

Kerry’s gaze shifted, his heart a mixture of grievance and anger. He wanted to open his mouth to retort, but forced himself to hold back.

Given the current situation, Kerry did not want to stir up further trouble.

“With a grade as low as C, no wonder you have to resort to cheating.” Gaibenlun crossed his arms, looking at Kerry as if he were observing a clown.

Filled with a mix of grievance and raging fire, Kerry felt the skin around his eyes turn flushed with red. He could no longer hold it back.

“I didn’t cheat!”

Gaibenlun gave a mocking chuckle. “Even if you pull every dirty trick in the book to crawl into the First Military Academy, no Honorable Zed is ever going to like you.”

With red-rimmed eyes and a look of biting sarcasm, Kerry retorted, “Does a military ZERC like you only know how to use grades to bully others?”

Gaibenlun narrowed his eyes. “You cheap C-grade trash, you think you’re qualified to talk to me like that?”

Kerry glared angrily at Gaibenlun, while Gaibenlun showed no fear at all. “If fighting weren’t prohibited here, I’d really love to slap you across the face.”

The arrogant military ZERC looked down on Kerry from a high vantage point, sneering. “Stay right here obediently and wait for your judgment!”

The air pressure in the room was extremely low. Shakani’s face was livid; he never would have imagined that Kerry could actually pass the First Military Academy examinations!

“That good-for-nothing C-grade ZERC passed the First Military Academy exams?! Are you shitting me?” Shakani snarled resentfully at Enlidi. “What right does that good-for-nothing have to pass the First Military Academy’s exams?!”

Enlidi pressed his lips together, his expression tinged with jealousy as he raised his eyes.

“Didn’t Eulem say he cheated? Let’s report him, let’s report him as a group!”

Shakani’s eyes were bloodshot. “That’s right, report him! If Eulem’s report doesn’t work, we’ll go make a collective report! Anyway, I refuse to believe a low-grade C-class ZERC like Kerry could get into the First Military Academy!”

Although Shakani hadn’t applied to the First Military Academy himself, he couldn’t stand the sight of Kerry getting in either.

Overwhelming jealousy and rage swallowed him whole like a towering tidal wave.

“Eulem has already reported him. If his report really fails, then we’ll all go together. We have to report Kerry.” Enlidi’s eyes also carried undisguised jealousy.

As a B-grade ZERC, he hadn’t applied to the First Military Academy either. Was it because he didn’t want to? Of course not.

It was because he felt he stood no chance of passing.

Yet despite that, Kerry had passed, and Kerry was merely a C-grade ZERC, a C-grade ZERC!

By what right! By what right!

Wisps of silver hair scattered across a delicate white neck, and his cold, refined eyes held a tinge of misty cyan-gray.

Lanrod observed the final form of the alien creature. His slender fingers, encased in snow-white gloves, touched the space just above the alien’s brow through the air. In an instant, the alien creature dissolved into a thin mist.

“Your Highness, how is the situation?” Xilun asked.

Lanrod lowered his gaze. “It shouldn’t be this weak.”

This time, the power of The Void had been immense, and an alien creature born through The Void should not have been this fragile.

At that moment, the sound of footsteps arrived, and Valama saluted Lanrod.

“Your Highness, Honorable Feifei has woken up.”

Lanrod raised his eyes. “Is his physical condition alright?”

Valama replied, “Thanks to the timely rescue, everything is currently going smoothly.”

Lanrod nodded slightly.

“Your Highness, there is one more matter.” Valama hesitated.

“Speak.” Lanrod’s glacier-like eyes looked at Valama.

“Well, Honorable Feifei insists on seeing Kerry, and keeps begging to be allowed to see him,” Valama said.
