Claudia Ross was so focused on her own path that she paid no attention to her surroundings.

Mark Reed, keenly observant from inside the car, sensed something amiss and leapt out, sprinting towards Claudia.

By the time he reached Claudia, the man carrying the bucket was also in front of her, viciously splashing the contents of the bucket out.Full novel: Reborn of the Billionaire’s Wife — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

In what seemed like slow motion yet happened so fast, Mark turned and embraced Claudia, using his own back as a shield.

The thick liquid splashed onto him, emitting a pungent smell of paint.

After dousing the paint, the man dropped the bucket and ran off.

Safe in Mark’s arms, Claudia was unaware of what had just occurred.

She was even a little annoyed at Mark for abruptly hugging her.

After forcefully pushing Mark away, Claudia finally saw that he was covered in paint everywhere except the front of his body, which had been protecting her.

Mark looked disheveled with paint all over him, while Claudia only had a few droplets on her.

She was stunned, “What happened?”

“Someone just tried to splash you with paint,” Mark said with furrowed brows, unbuttoning his shirt as he asked, “Did you offend someone?”

“I shouldn’t have…”

Claudia shook her head, unable to recall offending anyone.

“That’s good, just be more careful in the future.” Mark tossed his paint-stained suit jacket into a trash bin.

“Thankfully, it didn’t get on you.

This low-quality paint is very toxic and can seep through the skin, which is bad for the baby.”

Claudia’s eyes widened in shock.

Could someone be trying to harm the baby in her womb…

The thought made her legs go weak.

Wyatt Perry, even if he knew she was pregnant, wouldn’t resort to such a despicable method to force her to abort the child.

It could only be… Katie Poole.

Besides Katie, she really couldn’t think of anyone else.

The child in her womb was a significant threat to Katie.

Seeing Claudia’s pale face and her apparent immense shock, Mark comforted her, “It’s okay, the baby is fine.”

The baby…

Claudia trembled as if electrocuted, clutching her belly and wailing, “My stomach hurts…

it hurts so much…

hurry… take me to the hospital…

”

Mark, covered in paint, didn’t bother to wipe it off.

He urgently helped Claudia into the car and drove to the hospital.

Once in the car, Claudia spoke seriously, “Mr.

Reed, please help me…”

“Okay, how can I help?

Whatever I can do, I will do my utmost.”

With a low, pleading voice, Claudia begged, “Save my children, please save them.”

…

Rushing like lightning to the hospital, Mark carried Claudia out of the car and ran straight for the emergency room.

As he ran, he shouted loudly, “Doctor, come quickly, there’s a pregnant woman who’s miscarrying, she’s lost a lot of blood, please hurry, save her!”

Claudia looked deathly pale and weak in his arms, barely hanging on to life.

The doctors immediately arranged for surgery, and Claudia was wheeled into the operating room.

Before entering the surgery room, she grasped Mark’s hand tight, “You must save my child.”

Mark patted her hand, “Rest assured, I have everything under control.”

“Thank you,” Claudia said, finally closing her eyes in relief.

There was a man standing in a corner, watching Claudia being pushed into the operating room.

He sneaked into the safety passage to make a call.

“The deed is done, she’s in the hospital undergoing surgery, lost a lot of blood, the child definitely can’t be saved, I’ll come by later to confirm.”

The man left after making the call.

Mark walked to the spot where the man had made the call and let out a cold laugh.
