A gloomy Friday.
The classroom was dimly lit, giving off a stifling and oppressive feeling.
Outside the window, branches and leaves were weighed down, unable to stand straight. The rain cast a melancholic atmosphere over the entire city, with ripples continuously forming on the water’s surface, blurring the reflection of the dormitory building in the accumulated water.
The rain was heavy, falling with a crisp sound as it hit the ground.
It also unsettled Yun Hui’s heartstrings.
She gazed at the pouring rain outside, her face clouded with worry.
Friday afternoons already had few classes scheduled, and theirs was a makeup class adjusted to Friday.
She didn’t know what to do. One of her roommates was out on a date, and the other was participating in a competition.
No one was available to pick her up… She had forgotten her umbrella.
Ding, ding, ding!
The class bell rang, and the lecture hall instantly grew noisy.
Yun Hui hurriedly packed her backpack—she wanted to rush to the ground floor of the teaching building, hoping she might be able to share an umbrella with someone.
She had to be quick!
This was the first time Yun Hui had ever rushed to pack her things. Usually, she did everything at a leisurely pace.
By the time she reached the ground floor, there was no one left.
Umbrellas of all kinds moved along the paths, none of them with any extra space. Most were already crowded with several people.
Yun Hui looked around helplessly—there wasn’t a single person nearby.
Why had everyone left so quickly today? It seemed… she would have to brave the rain.
Just as she was about to step out, the sound of a couple whispering sweet nothings echoed from the stairwell.
“It’s raining, remember to use your umbrella,” the female student said to her partner.
After a few more affectionate words, the two prepared to open their umbrella and leave.
Yun Hui was about to ask if they could take her along.
But they were a couple… Would she be intruding if she joined them…
Or were they heading off campus? That would be the opposite direction from the dormitory…
Yun Hui! You can’t get soaked! Just go for it!
She lowered her head and walked toward the two: “Could you take me along?”
Mustering her courage, she spoke, but there was no response.
Yun Hui looked up in disappointment—the two had already moved some distance away.
…
How embarrassing!
At that moment, Yun Hui still held onto a sliver of hope, thinking: What if Senior Yin suddenly appeared, holding an umbrella to take her back?
That way, she would have an excuse to invite her back to the dormitory for something to eat. She had a small box of delicious little cakes in her cabinet, and they were really tasty!
But they were expensive, so she could only share them with someone worth sharing with.
Yun Hui waited expectantly for a long time, but the Senior Yin she longed for never appeared.
Alright… that kind of thing only happens in novels. How could it happen in real life?
She comforted herself.
The rain was truly heavy. The ripples in the puddles were like frantic drumbeats, as large raindrops continued to fall.
She lifted her crossbody bag over her head.
Counting silently… three… two… one!
Go!
She took off, charging into the rain.
The rain was much heavier than she had anticipated. The moment she stepped into it, her clothes were completely soaked, and even the bag over her head was drenched without exception.
Fortunately, she preferred wearing long boots. The leather exterior at least prevented more rainwater from seeping into her feet.
She ran across the square, heading toward the dormitory building.
Many people couldn’t help but wonder as they saw Yun Hui running in the rain.
They’re all college students—why is she pushing herself so hard? Doesn’t she care about her health?
Yun Hui’s face alternated between pale and flushed, like a flickering light at night, constantly shifting.
So many people were watching!
As she ran past the office building, the sound of a door closing echoed behind her.
Her boots splashed heavily through the puddles, sending up spray with each step.
She was running too fast, gasping for breath, and could only bend over, standing still to recover.
Raindrops as large as peanuts pelted her body, her hair plastered wetly against her shoulders. After a brief adjustment, she was about to start running again.
Suddenly…
A wave of warmth enveloped her entire body as she was pulled into a warm embrace.
The rain no longer pattered down; droplets tapped gently against an umbrella, creating a peaceful, serene atmosphere.
“Couldn’t you ask a classmate for help?” It was Yin Han Sou’s voice.
She was like a ray of Redemption, piercing through this gloomy rainy day.
So bright, so heartwarming.
Yun Hui’s lashes fluttered lightly. “Se… Senior?”
Yin Han Sou held Yun Hui with her left arm while supporting the umbrella with her right.
“Who else could it be? A senior guy?”
Yun Hui nestled obediently against Yin Han Sou’s chest. “Senior, take me back to the dorm, and I’ll treat you to something delicious!”
Yin Han Sou closed her eyes, her cool breath lingering over Yun Hui’s head. “You dare run out in the rain even during your period? Do you not want to make it through this weekend?”
“No… I…” Yun Hui leaned against her chest, her mind racing to find an excuse. “I don’t have many friends…”
Yin Han Sou paused, glancing down at the girl in her arms.
Her innocent gaze wandered over Yin Han Sou’s face, as if unintentional… or perhaps long-planned. Her damp hair clung tightly to her temples, making Yun Hui appear soft and alluring.
What was this?
Was she trying to seduce her?
They stared at each other for a long time, neither breaking eye contact, like a leopard poised to attack and a sika deer locking eyes with its predator.
Both were guessing the other’s next move.
Unable to hold back, Yin Han Sou made the first move.
“What did you call me?” Yin Han Sou pinched Yun Hui’s waist, moving her fingers back and forth. “If it’s not what I want to hear—I’ll throw you out. This is a single-person umbrella, after all.”
Yun Hui lowered her face, burying it in Yin Han Sou’s chest, her cheeks flushed as she mumbled softly, “Sister~”
Her little prey didn’t evade but stood right there, letting herself be caught.
Quite obedient.
Yin Han Sou was pleased. She had originally intended to take Yun Hui back to the dorm, but now—she changed her mind on the spot.
Sometimes fate works in such mysterious ways.
Today was the only time she had come to campus in days to handle some documents, and she hadn’t expected to run into this careless little thing again.
She couldn’t let this one slip away. If she wouldn’t behave, she’d make her behave just this once.
Yin Han Sou turned in a different direction. “Come home with me.”
“Huh?” Yun Hui looked utterly confused.
“I rented an apartment off-campus. It’s just sitting empty anyway, so you can stay there for a few days. Can you really take care of yourself alone?”
Actually, she had bought it and barely even lived there.
Yun Hui shook her head, her expression serious. “But I have delicious little cakes in my dorm that I wanted to give you, Senior. How about we…”
Yin Han Sou kept her eyes forward, gently pressing her left index finger to Yun Hui’s lips. “Don’t talk too much.”
“Oh…”
Yun Hui felt as if she were a lamb walking into a tiger’s den…
It seemed like she had fallen into a trap!
Yin Han Sou held Yun Hui even tighter, feeling the softness of her body as if trying to merge her into herself.
“I’m all wet, don’t get too close.” Yun Hui looked up at Yin Han Sou.
“I said, don’t talk too much. If you want to attract attention, you can speak louder.”
No!
Yin Han Sou gently pressed her thumb and index finger against Yun Hui’s lips, rubbing them back and forth. “I don’t like—disobedient children.”
Yun Hui nestled cozily in Yin Han Sou’s arms, squirming slightly. “You’re only a few years older than me, how come I’m the child here?”
Yin Han Sou chuckled softly.
It’s more than just a few years older.
As she smiled, the driver she had contacted called.
“Yun Hui, help me get the phone from my left pocket.”
Yun Hui reached into the left pocket and pulled out a phone, her voice soft. “Driver Xiao Chen.”
Yin Han Sou glanced at it briefly before looking ahead again. “Answer it for me.”
“Oh…”
Yun Hui tapped to answer and held it up to Yin Han Sou’s ear.
Yin Han Sou stopped and fixed her gaze directly on Yun Hui’s face. “I said answer it for me, not hold it for me.”
Yun Hui blushed and lowered her head, placing the phone to her own ear instead.
“Hello~ I’m Senior Yin’s junior.”
“Senior Yin? You mean Yin… oh, oh, Senior Yin! Where are you? I’ll come pick you up.”
The driver broke into a cold sweat… almost slipped up there. My job almost went poof! Who understands the struggle!
Yin Han Sou raised an eyebrow. She knew she hadn’t chosen the wrong person—Xiao Chen’s emotional intelligence was unusually high.
“We’re at the north gate of the school. Uncle, could you come pick us up?”
Yin Han Sou chuckled softly. Her observational skills were truly lacking.
The person on the other end wasn’t much older than her at all, yet she called him “uncle.”
By that logic, she herself should be an “auntie” then.
“Uh… I’ll be right there.”
Xiao Chen, who was driving, nearly choked.
Did his voice really sound that old?!
The two stood waiting at the gate. Before long, a white SUV slowly drove past the school entrance and stopped in front of them.
Yin Han Sou raised an eyebrow. This Xiao Chen knew the rules—slowing down deliberately when passing the school gate so the wheels wouldn’t splash water on anyone.
Attention to detail. Promising future.
Driver Xiao Chen glanced at Yin Han Sou.
Yin Han Sou flicked her eyes to the left, signaling him to let Yun Hui in first.
Xiao Chen nodded and opened the car door for Yun Hui.
Yun Hui didn’t catch the exchange of glances between the two and simply climbed into the open door.
Thud…
The door closed.
The two didn’t get in the car immediately but headed toward the trunk instead.
Yun Hui widened her eyes, trying to look back—but she couldn’t see anything.
Her mind started racing again, conjuring up all sorts of random thoughts.
After a moment, Yin Han Sou opened the car door and handed Yun Hui a towel. “Dry your hair first so you don’t catch a cold.”
“Thank you.”
Yun Hui lowered her head, taking the towel from Yin Han Sou and gently patting her damp hair.
Yin Han Sou opened the car door and got in. “Xiao Chen, back to the school district apartment.”
That fresh, invigorating scent wafted into Yun Hui’s nostrils.
“Okay, Yin… class… mate.”
Yin Han Sou didn’t mind the address, but Xiao Chen stumbled over the words—”Yin classmate” felt like a tongue twister, impossible to say smoothly in one breath.
