Amid Nova’s distorted hatred, in a place very far away and far ahead of his time…
A certain spider was inside a castle as ancient as the memories being lived through at that very moment.
Her expression was tense, and all of her eyes remained unblinking, completely focused on the light coming from the soul of a certain young man.
Her legs moved at terrifying speeds, and one of her hands had finished receiving that flow of light.
Now, resting in her hand was a certain small wolf with a New Moon on his forehead, restless and suffering from several muscular spasms.
He was small and the same color characteristic of spider webs.
Obviously, that spider was the Weaver.
One of her eyes spared a moment to examine the place where a certain spider-wolf had been.
Now, in its place, there was only a single enormous spider, its legs collapsed, dead.
That same eye turned toward the young man upon whom her other limbs were working.
His body was no longer the same.
He had grown several good centimeters.
His lean muscles were now more pronounced, outlining the half-torn shirt he wore.
But what was most frightening were the ivory-white fur covering his entire body.
Ears and a tail.
Along with a small moon on his forehead.
His eyes were open and vacant, as if he were in a deep state of shock.
Before, they had carried faint shades of blue, but now those blue eyes were slowly fading into shades of silver.
The same silver as the New Moon’s.
“He’s losing himself!
It was expected, given how little time we have.
I need to finish this within a few minutes, or the sun will arrive and everything will be over.” The Weaver’s black lips moved, and her voice revealed clear traces of nervousness.
“I need to find a way to remind him of who he is…
But how?
He doesn’t seem to have anything unique.
All he is is a blank canvas, and that’s why he’s perfect!” All of the Weaver’s limbs began rummaging through Kair’s soul.
With every passing second, the form of the New Moon became more translucent, and Kair increasingly resembled a humanoid version of the wolf.
“Something…
Anything!
Time is running out!
They’ll both succumb to madness if this continues!” The Weaver’s voice began to rise in desperation as she moved her limbs even faster.
The Elite creatures still standing at the door began to move anxiously, and throughout the castle, the smaller spiders scurried about, sensing their mistress’s nervousness.
Inside Kair’s soul…
A powerful voice, carrying an oppressive heat, echoed across the mountain peaks.
“Full Moon!
Submit!
The Solar Kingdom will be sovereign!
Your packs may live among ours and, who knows, in time, our lineages may merge!
We can create a better new tomorrow!” At the end of the speech, the thousands of black wolves howled like a distorted, bestial chorus.
Satisfaction formed across the great black wolf’s muzzle, but it was soon shattered by the resolute white wolf’s words.
“You speak of a better tomorrow, yet you bring war beneath your muzzle.
You speak of merging our lineages, yet you order us to submit.
You do not desire the union of the Eternal Moonlight Kingdom and the Solar Kingdom.
You desire domination!
And that, Sun, I will not tolerate!” With a growl followed by a howl, the world around the two wolves became painted in shades of gray, and below, amidst the mist…
Thousands of white wolves with silver eyes emerged.
They all climbed the mountain peaks with deep hatred in their hearts, surrounding the thousands of black wolves.
Nova knew.
Full Moon had laid a trap to separate the wolves of the Solar Kingdom.
Even with this trap, there are too many of them.
And that oppressive energy coming from the golden sky…
Why do I know we’ll fail?
Why do I know it won’t be enough?!
Nova’s mind began to feel heavy.
As if something ancient were taking hold of him.
Something filled with hatred and a viscous energy.
Something…
Mad?
His limbs moved without his will, and an insane rage consumed him completely.
His body moved like never before.
His steps touched the winds, leaving moonlight behind.
And then, the gray world expanded and consumed the entire reality of the wolves.
Pain echoed through Nova’s soul…
Or was he really Nova?
Something else began to possess him, emerging from the colors emanating from his forehead.
Blood?
This is the taste of blood…
It feels so warm.
It feels good…
The desire began to consume him.
And he saw a damned wolf directly beneath his paw.
Its head was mangled, and its body was covered in tears.
Breathing heavily, Nova felt the satisfaction of finally killing a Solar Wolf.
“How long has it been since I felt this!
The blood of these bastards!
Yes!
I’ll devour every last one of them!” The voice echoed across an emerging battlefield, but it sounded strange…
Very similar to the tones of voice emitted by the maddened Elites during the Coming-of-Age Test.
Nova-Kair surveyed his surroundings.
Only a few seconds should have passed, but the world was already a mixture of embers and smoke.
Cascades of blood ran down the mountain peaks, and bodies fell by the hundreds.
And the sound of the world being torn apart was the symphony above their heads.
Neither Nova, nor Kair, dared to look up.
After a few more breaths, the mixture of human and wolf was lost within the massacre, as both became increasingly insane.
On the other side, sweat covered the Weaver’s entire body, and her nervous expression had intensified.
Which, strangely enough, only improved her appearance.
In her hand, the small New Moon was almost translucent, and nearly all of its characteristic flow of light had entered Kair’s soul.
The desperation in all of the Weaver’s eyes only intensified.
Until a strange light appeared for an instant.
A faint, almost transparent hue.
To anyone else, it would have gone unnoticed.
But to her?
Someone who had already lived for centuries long before becoming sealed there…
Nothing escaped the Weaver’s webs.
Within moments, the look of desperation transformed into astonishment and, finally…
Hope.
In one final burst of strength, she consumed the entire figure of the New Moon and began moving her limbs at such a speed that their images became distorted.
