The massive building stood in the prime location of the imperial capital, its architectural style blending European vintage charm with modern sophistication—one of the most exclusive luxury private clubs in the nation.

A luxurious vehicle pulled into the spacious courtyard.

The car door opened, and Fu Chenyan, fresh from the wedding, stepped out. His slender fingers fastened a suit button before he turned to open the other door.

“We’re here.”

Sang Ran was helped out, dressed in a pristine white wedding gown that trailed far behind her. Two maids immediately stepped forward to hold up the hem.

Sang Ran lifted her head and looked around—it was a grand estate, not much different from her own home.

“What are you looking at?”

“That sculpture isn’t pretty, there are too few flowers here, the floor color isn’t nice either, and why isn’t that building pink?”

Her soft, gentle voice drifted away with the wind.

Fu Chenyan cast a dark glance sideways. “So picky.”

Sang Ran flinched at his harsh tone and stopped in her tracks, murmuring quietly, “I… I was just making a suggestion. You don’t have to change it. Once Grandpa Fu gets better, I’ll go home.”

Fu Chenyan looked at the timid young girl—it seemed a single word could make her cry.

He furrowed his brow and said, “I’ll give you 20% of the Fu Group’s shares as divorce compensation. I won’t short you a single thing written in the contract.”

Sang Ran pouted her pink lips. She didn’t care about that at all. Grandpa Fu had helped their family before, and her father had said they must be people who repay kindness.

It was fine—she just needed to stay here for a year, and then she could go home.

Sang Ran comforted herself inwardly.

“Let’s go.”

Fu Chenyan was tall with long legs, walking with a commanding stride. Before long, Sang Ran was left trailing behind him.

“Wait for me.”

Sang Ran lifted her gown and quickened her pace, but accidentally stepped on the long train of her dress and stumbled forward.

She squeezed her eyes shut in fright. After a long moment, the pain she expected never came—instead, she crashed headfirst into Fu Chenyan’s chest, a faint, clean scent washing over her.

His chest was as hard as a wall. Sang Ran felt stars spinning above her head. She raised a hand to rub her forehead, clearly dazed from the impact.

Fu Chenyan: “Clumsy.”

Sang Ran sniffled in grievance. The pain in her forehead still lingered, and since she couldn’t bear even the slightest discomfort, tears threatened to spill again.

“Don’t cry.”

His voice was cold, carrying a hint of danger. His sharp brows furrowed slightly, and his dark pupils held no emotion whatsoever.

Sang Ran sobbed softly, rubbing her eyes in hurt.

Her eyes were red, like a bullied little rabbit, her face fair and flushed—so endearing that one couldn’t help but want to cherish her.

Fu Chenyan had never seen such a delicate, tearful doll before. He coldly grabbed her wrist and led her into the living room.

“Fifth Master, Madam.”

The maids stood respectfully to the side, sizing up their new mistress.

Just as the rumors said—timid and prone to tears.

“Madam?”

Sang Ran’s dark eyes were filled with confusion, utterly unfamiliar with the term.

Fu Chenyan led her to a side bedroom on the second floor and opened the door. “From now on, you’ll stay here.”

The room was minimalist and upscale, decorated in a muted neutral palette. The bed was a rigid square, covered with gray bedding.

Sang Ran pointed at the large white bed in the middle, her soft, gentle voice rising again. “I… I want a pink bed, and I want to hold my pink bunny, or else… or else I can’t fall asleep.”

Fu Chenyan: “…”

“Where am I supposed to find you a pink bed and a pink bunny right now? Sleep here tonight, and I’ll get them tomorrow.”

His voice remained icy, with no trace of emotion.

Sang Ran nodded obediently. “Okay, thank you.”

Just as Fu Chenyan turned to leave, Sang Ran grabbed the hem of his jacket with both hands.

“Hm?”

Sang Ran said quietly, “I’m hungry.”

“So picky.”

And so, Sang Ran was brought by Fu Chenyan to the dining area downstairs.

“What do you like to eat?”

Sang Ran: “Cupcakes, chips, spicy strips, lollipops…”

Fu Chenyan: “…”

“None of that.”

Sang Ran lowered her head, pouted, and muttered softly, “Then I’ll just eat a meal.”

Before long, Sang Ran was presented with a pink cupcake.

And somehow, the kitchen even knew her favorite flavor was pink strawberry cake.

Unlike that wicked thing Fu Chenyan, who only knew how to bully her.

“I’m going to the study for a meeting. After you finish eating, go to your room, wash up, and rest.”

Sang Ran looked up, her dark eyes clear and bright, cheeks puffed full of food, with a smear of pink cream still on her lips.

Fu Chenyan looked at the girl before him, momentarily stunned for two seconds. Then, he raised a finger and gently wiped the cream from the corner of Sang Ran’s mouth.

“Clumsy.”

Sang Ran decided to ignore this man entirely. Aside from calling her clumsy and picky, he hadn’t said two kind words to her.

He was gloomy and brooding, like someone owed him money.

Sang Ran dared not voice her frustration, so she timidly lowered her head and continued eating her cake.

Fu Chenyan stood up and left the dining area.

The study was spacious, with a simple desk. On the left side were documents and a pen holder, and a computer sat in the middle.

Fu Chenyan turned on the camera. His cold, dark eyes held no emotion whatsoever, though a small red flower now adorned his suit. He remained as indifferent as ever.

“Reschedule all of today’s meetings.”

The executives on the screen exchanged bewildered glances. Wasn’t today the CEO’s wedding day? And on his wedding day, he still wanted them to work overtime for a meeting?

As expected of President Fu!

Fu Chenyan continued, “How’s the revision of last time’s proposal coming along? Present it again.”

He leaned slightly back in his chair, his gaze sweeping over the screen, fingers tapping lightly on the desk, exuding an overwhelming sense of pressure.

“President Fu… I’ve already revised my proposal.”

One of the executives began reporting on his work. The room fell into complete silence—not a single sound. Even through the screen, Fu Chenyan’s presence was palpable, and the executive’s palms were already slick with cold sweat.

The air pressure in the room dropped low. Fu Chenyan furrowed his brows, seemingly dissatisfied, and was about to say something.

Just then, a soft knock sounded at the door, and a girl’s gentle, sweet voice echoed through the room.

“Honey.”
