Сhаpter 24: Wаiting fоr Му Еx-Girlfriend
In the Рilаtes studio, Yin Еn Yu’s long hair wаs tiеd uр high, аnd hеr fоrm-fitting workоut сlоthеs acсentuated her grасeful аnd сарtivаting figure.
Тhе sрaciоus rоom hеld only her, Wаn Tаng, and two onе-on-оne рrivаte instructоrs.
“I just saw He Yu Zhоu’s саr dоwnstairs. Did he bring уоu hеrе?” Wan Tаng sat uрright on her уoga mаt, stretching hеr shoulders.
Yin En Yu hummеd sоftlу in resроnse, bending her bоdy gеntlу to the sidе.
“Doesn’t hе havе tо wоrk todаy?” Wan Тang chаttеd idlу. “Before you returned tо thе country, I’d onlу sеe He Yu Zhоu а few times a year.”
“You’ve only been back for a short while, and I’ve already run into him three times.”
Once on the road to the airport, once in the corridor of the grand theater, and just now downstairs.
Yin En Yu switched to stretching the other side. “He seems quite busy. He had just finished a meeting when he dropped me off.”
Hearing this, Wan Tang abandoned her stretching and turned toward her, curiosity piqued. “Are you two getting along well?”
Yin En Yu nodded. “It seems pretty good.”
“I’ve never seen such a harmonious ex-relationship before,” Wan Tang remarked with a sigh. “It’s almost like you’re in the ambiguous stage.”
Yet they understood each other even better than during that ambiguous phase.
From what she knew about ex-relationships, they either avoided each other entirely or were outright hostile.
None were like theirs.
“You broke up with him, and when you met again, He Yu Zhou wasn’t angry at all?” Wan Tang pressed curiously.
The moment the name He Yu Zhou was mentioned, the first thing that came to mind was—someone not to be trifled with.
He acted recklessly, never letting a grievance go unavenged, and never considered the consequences. He lived solely by his own rules, and in his world, the only law was himself.
But who would have thought that when it came to Yin En Yu, he would have no bottom line.
Yin En Yu’s lips moved slightly. “He must be angry.”
If he weren’t angry, there would only be one reason—he no longer loved her.
Based on what she currently understood, Wan Tang analyzed, “But when you two meet, there’s no tension or hostility.”
“He Yu Zhou hasn’t said a single harsh word to you, has he?”
Yin En Yu stopped her movements, bending her legs. “He wouldn’t hurt me with words.”
It’s often said that those who know you best know how to hurt you the deepest. But He Yu Zhou wouldn’t do that. He disdained using such despicable means, turning his understanding of her into a sharp blade to stab her with.
He knew that words, to her, were more hurtful than anything else—the sharpest weapon.
They would embed themselves deeply in her heart like shards of glass, impossible to erase.
A wound that could never be healed, no matter how much time passed.
Wan Tang offered an impartial evaluation: “He Yu Zhou is really quite remarkable.”
Back when she first learned they were together, she had worried that He Yu Zhou’s arrogant and reckless nature might lead him to bully Yin En Yu.
Besides, He Yu Zhou had the face of a top-tier playboy, making her think he must have been quite the player in relationships.
But the reality was that he was absolutely loyal and devoted to his partner.
They were each other’s first love.
Yin En Yu’s tone was unusually firm. “Yes, he’s very good.”
No matter how much time passed, no matter how many times she was asked, this answer remained unchanged.
It’s just… she wasn’t that good.
The two practiced Pilates for nearly an hour, changed clothes, and then went to the top floor for a full-body skincare treatment.By the time they emerged, the sky outside had already darkened.
“Someone’s here to pick you up~” Wan Tang nudged the person beside her upon seeing the figure by the roadside, teasing her playfully.
Yin En Yu looked up at the sound, puzzled, and then her pupils slightly widened, her heart filled with surprise.
He stood in the dim evening light, his silhouette hidden in the dusky glow, his features appearing hazy and indistinct.
But Yin En Yu recognized him at a glance.
“What are you doing here?”
Even she hadn’t noticed that her steps quickened involuntarily, her voice tinged with a hint of delight.
He Yu Zhou leaned against the car door with his arms crossed, putting on airs. “I just happened to pass by here on my way home from work.”
“Really, just passing by?” Yin En Yu called him out. “Then who are you waiting for here?”
He Yu Zhou dropped the act. “My ex-girlfriend.”
“Get in, I’ll take you home.” He stepped aside and opened the car door.
Wan Tang chuckled from behind. While others came to pick up their girlfriends or suitors, for He Yu Zhou, it was his ex-girlfriend—and he did it with an air of righteous confidence.
She decided not to disturb the two of them any further and made a timely exit. “En En, I’ll head off now. My driver is here to pick me up.”
Before leaving, she added, “Mr. He, please make sure to take my En En home safely.”
He Yu Zhou nodded. “Of course.”
The Pagani weaved through the streets as the evening breeze slipped through the gaps in the windows, gently brushing against Yin En Yu’s hair.
“How did you know I hadn’t left yet?”
He Yu Zhou kept her guessing. “I have my ways, of course.”
If he wanted to know something, there was nothing he couldn’t find out.
“Have you eaten?”
“Yes.”
The place where she did her skincare treatments had prepared dinner for them.
Suddenly, Yin En Yu remembered something. “You still haven’t given me back my bag.”
She had completely forgotten about it when she left his company that afternoon.
He Yu Zhou remained unfazed. “Come by my company to pick it up whenever you have time.”
Yin En Yu glanced at him, sensing he was setting a trap for her.
“I don’t have time lately. I’ll send my driver to get it.”
“Then I’ll deliver it to you myself when I have time, you busy person,” He Yu Zhou said lazily.
“Fine.” Yin En Yu left it at that. After all, she wasn’t short of a bag.
After dropping her off at her doorstep, He Yu Zhou said, “Give my regards to your parents.”
“Alright.” Yin En Yu turned slightly. “How are Uncle He and Auntie An doing?”
“Better than me.” He Yu Zhou rolled down the car window, resting his head on one hand. “Auntie An even attended your solo concert when you returned to the country.”
Yin En Yu was startled. “Why didn’t anyone tell me?”
If she had known, she would have gone out to meet Auntie An and treated her to a meal. Auntie An was open-minded and kind, and she had always been good to her.
“Maybe she was afraid you’d feel awkward?” He Yu Zhou’s tone was teasing. “You couldn’t even stand the sight of your ex-boyfriend, let alone his mother.”
“That’s not true.” Yin En Yu denied it outright.
She had kept her distance because she thought he had a girlfriend. But once she found out he wasn’t in a relationship, she no longer deliberately maintained that distance.
He Yu Zhou raised an eyebrow playfully. “So, you wanted to see me?”
Yin En Yu’s soft lips trembled slightly. “Not exactly…”
He Yu Zhou knew exactly what she was about to say. Not wanting to upset himself, he quickly cut her off and urged her, “Get out of the car.””Oh.” Yin En Yu pursed her lips, inwardly grumbling: asking her again, yet not letting her speak after asking.
